Well Done Geno.... Congrats you def. put in your time
-
I think certain areas of OTIS pike do not require check in, all of Rocky Point does
-
They take your hunting license and give you a window placecard, if it's afternoon you can use it for any open spot. You must return to the check station by dusk and get your hunting license back

Pick up a Hoyt alphamax and be done with it, still one of hoyts best hunting bows you can probably get a 2010 model for $300. Avoid Craigslist unless you really know your bows guys on there rip people off selling 20yr old bows for $300
-
Check out the classified section on archerytalk.com you can get last years top of the line bows for that amount of $$$ bows depreciate in value real fast literally 50% after a year, know what you want and what your draw length is and look on the AT forum
-
If you want to Otis morning you need to make a reservation the day before or a week before for the weekend, if you want to hunt in the afternoon just show up at the ridge check station there are usually spots open
-
you out on public or private Geno? I kicked up a beast the other day, too bad he was bedded 20yrds from my brush blind
-
was that a fully guided porcupine hunt? lol
-
Zero that you know of, can't tell you how many deer i would have never seen if it wasn't for a 1/10th of a second tail flicker
-
I wonder how many deer slip by when you guys are on your phones....

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO STAY IN YOUR NUMBERED AREA, what do you think the guys hunting rabbits/pheasant with dogs do? walk around in circles? you need to only stay in your area till 1hr after sunrise, you are then permitted to walk anywhere you want (as long as you do not cross the road), parking spots are intended to keep hunters spread out somewhat what is not permitted but happens during shotgun and is annoying is guys all pile in a truck and get dropped off on the side of the road to conduct a drive
-
You cannot cross the road, however you do not need to stay at one spot you can park in 14 and walk all the way north to 9 if you feel inclined, I believe the rules are you stay in your area till the first hour after sunrise
-
Gonna head out tomorrow early afternoon till dark, most likely head to rocky point I have the county pass as well, only issue is the county property I always see deer the last 1hr and only the last 1hr, always headed in the same direction

Agreed that is the biggest negative of buck bomb, people leave the cans around I personally pour some doe urine into a small pump spray bottle, i will use a pine cone and soak it with the spray and then put that pine cone at shoulder level when in stand i will also give a few spray pumps every hour or so to carry in the wind. when used in this manner i can have a small spray bottle last almost a year
-
NYS limits a hunter to 1.5 ounces of attractant, whats that can say?
-
buck bomb is technically illegal in NYS

First officially confirmed Coyote sighting by DEC on Long Island
Danny replied to JimmyDaSavage's topic in Region 1
?? 10 Miles? maybe 3 miles western sound 10 miles is probably it's widest maybe they just came over the throgs neck bridge -
I think you should either eat your deer or donate to the less fortunate, or if you must give it to your dog but to shoot a doe, to use as bait to kill a fox or coyote which neither of which you will eat is legal? yes ethical? not too sure about that need coyote bait? use some freezer burn steaks and chicken in your freezer you were probably gonna toss anyway. I see this as killing for the sake of killing.
-
I am a meat hunter no doubt, however i will not shoot small deer. to me its the same amount of butchering work for a 75 pound deer as a 130 lb doe i will shoot a 120 lb doe before i shoot a small buck, i passed a small 6 on saturday, if it was a mature doe an arrow would have flown. I either want a nice mature doe, or a mature buck.
-
don't just focus on mornings and evenings, been out 2 times this year and saw 7 deer total, the 6 pt I passed on was up and moving at 2:30 PM
