D loop no nock, if the D loop is tied properly it will not move
-
Jeez... how old are you guys, seriously
-
yes it can become lodged i have seen it happen, usually the result on a nock set to high, too much downward pressure will wedge the arrow shaft between the bristles, in addition on very cold morning i found the biscuit to make a slight brushy/hiss sound when drawing the arrow against the bristles even worse if the centwer of the arrow shaft has a applied manufactured label

have seasonal pass in your window, a copy of one with you in the woods park at an open spot, spots are 1 car per spot for the most part, walk in and hunt until Nov. 1st after Nov. 1st it's daily access permit required from check station

If you don't want to process one drop it off, I know a guy that does it for $50
-
Honestly I would never buy new. You can pick up a used elite hunter, Hoyt, Mathews all far superior to a pse brute on the classified section of archerytalk

funny story... a few years ago we are doing some work on cleaning up trails in the afternoon during bow season, as i am riding the quad back towards the house i see a gorgeous basket 6pt buck jump the logging road 20 yrds ahead of me, we go back to the house and have lunch i say to my buddy i'm gonna hunt the stand i hunted this morning (happens to be 200 yrds from where the buck was) I get up into the tree 2-3 hrs before dark, i get all settled in and 1 hr later I hear a subtle grunt, 20 seconds later another gentle grunt getting closer (adrenaline is pumping now), I see a leg move through the thick dwarf pine and hear another grunt.... finally I see a doe come out and immediately hear a grunt behind her... ohhhh boy here comes that 6 is all i kept thinking (this all transpiring in 5 minutes) again another grunt, me adrenaline shakes now i see the leg, hear grunt, see the shoulder, comes closer see the neck, steps closer is see the HEAD hey no horns it's a doe, wtf? then she proceeds to grunt, and continues to grunt every 20 seconds as she walks away.... bummer.... but kool to watch

I haven't personally had rattling work, My neighbor has had minimal success I have see grunting work without question in order for rattling to work i think you need: Low hunting pressure (if they hear every hunter rattling forget it) good buck to doe ratios good size mature bucks
-
Agreed, caught this on Monday night, we have more shore caught sharks this year than ever before Brown shark, measured 55" and approx. 50-60 pounds

true i forgot about Muzzleloader

in years past you could shoot a buck with a Bow tag a Regular season Tag you can have 4 1C DMP permits (each of which would be granted a either sex tag for a successful doe harvest) so to do the math (hypothetical) Bow Tag (Buck) Reg Season Tag (Buck) 1 DOE (DMP granted either sex tag) 1 Buck 1 DOE (DMP granted either sex tag) 1 Buck 1 DOE (DMP granted either sex tag) 1 Buck 1 DOE (DMP granted either sex tag) 1 Buck out of tags 6 bucks, 4 doe (however if you didn't shoot bucks you could take 50 does)

My personal opinion it will reduce the number of deer taken, many guys on long island "trophy hunt" and only shoot does to get the either sex tag, from the beginning of the season you can already have 4 doe tags for 1C, why would you need to exchange it for another doe tag? There are plenty of quality bucks on long island, and yes on Public Land (participation isn't what it was 15 yrs ago many of the XBox generation don't hunt) and many bucks are shot during the Jan shotgun season after they have shed, i've seen shed bucks that were 150lbs dressed out in Jan with bases the size of soda cans. I have a good buddy that hunts LI practically everyday and drops some very impressive deer, he even said this year he will shoot an 8pt and then wait for something really big. so that's it 2 deer for a guy that usually takes 3-4 bucks and 1-2 does a year. the way guys would take so many bucks in years past was 2 buck tags to start 3-4 doe tags shoot 2 bucks shoot a doe shoot another buck (burn tag) shoot a does shoot a buck (burn tag) shoot a doe shoot a buck (burn tag) so legally that was 5 bucks and 3 does ( 8 legal deer )

Long Island (non-hunting area)

That sucks big time. Yes the locals will pattern your coming and goings if you don't live up there, happened to my buddy many years ago, needless to say no guns ever stay up there any longer

63# currently next bow would be 50-60 and shoot it maxed out, bows perform best at the max weight

Danny replied to verminater71's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
apparently last line says you can keep it for 3 years with Valid hunting license, hmmm is that a money grab to (encourage even non hunter to buy a hunting license)? -
I agree about the extra year, we do have a surprising amount of 3-5 yr old deer on state land in LI, however many, many "shed" bucks are taken during the Jan. shotgun season
