Corporations, sponsored tv shows, manufacturers and so on play into the desire for the upper hand, play the wind you will beat the scent everytime. Or if you want spend all your money on scent free clothes, cover scents, nose jammers ,lol drug dealers have been trying to fool a dogs nose for years... Btw it never works

Cannot agree with aqua750 more, people you are not hunting deer that have never seen or smelled a human, trust me... People over complicate things (ozonics, scent killer, scent lock ect...) back off the corporate kool-aid.

You do a DNA test? Lol

I am also amazed people would leave a high quality stand in the woods, considering it is not legal in areas like rocky point the DEC does take them down. Clearly states you are not to leave any personal property, that includes ladder stands and game cameras
-
7mm-08 will be his favorite deer rifle for many many years i guarantee it
-
either way i would never damage any persons personal property, i can just see an issue if you were to bring in a climber and the guy shows up and ruins your hunt by hopping in his ladder stand with the logic of "well i have had my stand here for a month"

On wildlife management areas, it is unlawful to: Camp without written permission Travel off-road by use of motorcycles, motor scooters, mopeds, trail bikes, snowmobiles or any other motorized vehicle, except as specifically allowed by a permit or posted notice Remove, cut or willfully damage or destroy living vegetation of any kind Construct or place a permanent structure, blind, stand or platform (includes placement of nails or other hardware into trees) Leave any personal property at the time of leaving the area Enter upon property posted with No Trespassing signs, except with written permission from DEC

the area was kept very clean, unlike last year under one guys hanging stand 2-3 empty cans of buck bomb, used hand warmers, snack bags ect... i picked it all up and tied it to his bow pull up rope, freakin slob...
-
I see this becoming more common, I scout around and find a good area that i would like to hunt and then notice someone has put a ladder tree stand up and wisely locks it to a tree, so my question is when you guys see this do you ever hunt out of the stand?
-
anybody have a coupon code they are not using? if so can you PM me.... thank you in advance

I always thought a recurve was MORE forgiving than a longbow.

Long island hunting areas on not very accommodating to climbers, not many select trees, that coupled with thieves its best to carry in a pop up or create a brush blind. I have a buddy that's taken over 100 deer with bow on the island, he has never once hunted out of a tree.

Yep same here i Use the Garmin e-trek nothing fancy, i turn it on before i leave the car, let it aquire sattelites shut it off and turn it back on when i need, it aquires my location in seconds
-
Yep if you look at my pic. you can see its on a birch tree, and it was raining slippery.....
-
Use a climber, leave nothing to chance bring it in and bring it out, or build brush blinds, anything else you are leaving to scumbags to take
-
so.... what happened? according to him what was the reason?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DVrETdPx-tQ Rather than explain how the straps work (fast forward if you wish)
-
I use the Third Hand Achery stabilizer straps, best thing ever secures top to bottom, makes it rock solid and you no longer need to strap it to the tree
-
any deer i have seen going over 200# came off the north fork, where was this deer taken?
-
just curious now looking at the bend (was it adjusted to large for the tree?) was the platform level or slightly angled down? this sometimes happens and you climb higher and the tree narrows, i always set my summit so the platform is angled up when it's first put on, as you climb up the tree it levels out from the way it is bent in the image, it looks like the platform was angled down and the weight applied pulled the V bar and bent it rather than applying the stress to the cable and upper bars Next time try starting with the platform a bit tighter (it will level out as you go up)

thats sucks... however i don't think you are supposed to keep stands out on county land, i could be wrong
