  1. Oh just hanging out with Lee and Tiffany.. Well mainly Tiffany...
  2. Had a close encounter with a buck this weekend but only saw him briefly through the trees and he got behind a spruce and walked directly away. Had a wrong wind direction. When I checked my cam after the hunt i found are a few photos of this big boy. Definitely on the hit list. Then this little guy came around too
  3. Built in tree stands are always more comfortable when there is a nice rolling office chair to sit in, snacks, and not have to worry about falling out when you fall asleep. HAHA! This is my Northern Zone Stand at the bottom of a hardwood ridge leading into the swamp.
  4. I had 2 small twin spike horns this weekend still with fuzzy antlers
  5. My wife too said see you in December. I kindly reminded her that coyote season ends at the end of March. She said see you in April, I reminded her fishing begins April 1st. Finally I got the last word!!! HAHA
  6. I think he might be more than 2. This guy I think is 2 and his offspring. He gets a pass to walk from me.
  7. This Freak showed up on camera. Looks like he actually posed for us. Buck #2 on Hit List...
  8. Yea 168 pics last check after 2 weeks but nice to scroll through and go weeds, weeds, weeds, wee RACK!!!
  9. Got a picture of this guy 10 yards from the base of tree stand. Come on OCTOBER!
  10. That was one of the benefits of going to the Ranger School was we could hunt the Dubuar forest. Killed a few snowshoes, partridge, and had close encounters with coyotes there. Good spot for deer too when you had to much work to drive home for the weekend and hunt.
  11. +1 For Gamehide! Love the Stuff!
  12. First Let me start by setting up my stand scenario. I am in a larch tree in the middle of this hidden field at the bottom of a hill that leads to the hay field but before it gets to the swamp. First photo is the trail I created leading to the swamp off to my right, 2nd photo is the cross roads I created connecting the hayfield to the swamp and 2 old logging roads, and the 3rd is the trail off to my left leading to an old logging road coming out of the woods. In the cross roads picture if you look close at the tree to the right you can see my camera. there are also a couple of apple trees in that upper quadrant along the woods. In the photo off to my left are 2 small pin cherry trees with a couple of apple ones behind it. Here are the pictures I have gotten so far...
  13. Plus if you sign up for Herb's "price fighter" card for every $500 you spend they send you a $10 gift card. So you could have one in the mail to you shortly after. I have gotten quite a few of these... But don't tell the wife!!
  14. Wait a couple of weeks Herb Philipsons will be out there opening their new store in Newark. They have this same rifle for 499.99.
  15. Yea that is a bobcat. I was thinking it was a big boy too but was trying to convince myself he was ON the log not next to it? I originally thought it was just another deer butt until I zoomed in and saw the spots. Maybe he will be mounted after this season since they have opened a season now in 6S.
  16. This is a road that was dammed up years ago by the beaver and since has been trapped and removed. I only had the camera here to see what was making the slide over the bank figured it was an otter. That may have been what was in the other pictures but too quick to be captured. I have since moved this camera to my stand where I did just that. Spent all evening Friday weedwhacking a path across a small hidden field from one side of a logging road to the other and then a T up to the hayfield before loosing the nut to my trimmer. Still need to trim down to the swamp to create a 4 corner affect and bring them within 20yrds of the base of my stand. Hopefully the next set of pictures will show this scenerio a little better.
  17. After my last episode with the brand new camera and not thinking it was working, I checked it on the 12th and it had 26 pictures. Most of which were of nothing as far as I could see. However these are a couple that did have animals in them.
  18. Whats the big deal and all the crying about wearing backtags? I hunt North, South, rabbits, coyotes, waterfowl etc and my light wt gear, insulated gear, backpack, game vest, snow camo, and max-4 gear all have their own back tags on them. Finally the state gives something away FREE take advantage of it. The holders are only $1.99 max and you pay for them once unless you loose them. I buy my license and go back the next week when its not so busy and get 6 extra back tags. When I first thought of this I called DEC to make sure it was ok and there is nothing against it even the Officer said "Hey they're free get all you need."
  19. He is actually lower than I was there is a small incline out of the pond, but yes the weeds are tall there. Here is a picture from a month ago these two bucks were in the grass in the center of the picture on the other side of the pond when I first saw them.
  20. As I parked and began the walk down the hill past our cabin I looked and on the other side of our pond I see 2 small bucks getting drinks and then dissapear into the tall grass. I figure they are headed to the corn field that borders it so I wait... They never come out so I walk the road that also boarders the pond leading from the hay field I parked in to the corn field when I spot them still in the grass. I watch them for a bit when I look over my shoulder and see a racked buck cruising just inside the timber. I crouch down expecting to see him cross the road and head to the pond for a drink. When he doesn't I realize I better get doing what I came to do since time is running out and I had family things to attend. I managed to get a picture on my phone of one of the small bucks in the grass I assume they were twins both had about the same size antlers. So I arrive at my camera open it up and nothing on the screen. I was excitied that it took so many pictures it killed the batteries. I took the card out and put it in my Moultrie viewer and to my surprise "SD CARD EMPTY"! Of course i didn't bring any other batteries so I did the ol roll em around inside and got 1 bar on the screen put the card back in and left it. Finished up the day by moving a stand to a new location. Next time I'll have new batteries and move the camera to a different spot. Well atleast I know even though they are not shooter bucks to me there are bucks there.
  21. Funny I switched last year from a High Country Supreme to a Martin Bengal Pro. What a difference. I also changed out my entire set up going with carbon vs aluminum arrows, Schwacker vs Muzzy broadheads, Apache drop away vs Whisker biscuit, stayed with a truglo sight and now in the process of finding a different release. Haven't killed anything but I love the bow. I don't think you'll be dissapointed in choosing the prowler.
  22. Phade, if you put a nail in a tree at 4' it will always stay at 4'. When a tree grows it only grows outward hence the rings in a tree. The branches on top continue to thicken and grow creating the appearance of the tree growing upward. So someone climbed up there and strapped this sucker in there.
  23. I have 3 1100's and the magnum is my go to Turkey gun. It was given to me on my 16th Christmas from my grandparents. Has a 30in full choke barrel and works great! if you only have a mod barrel on there look at Hornady Heavy shot turkey loads. Saw them for about $15 for 10 at Bass Pro last week and they recomend mod or improved cyl for chokes and keep it to 30yrds or less. Good Luck and Good Hunting! KNOCK EM DOWN!
  24. I was in the Herb Philipsons in Rome this morning and they had quite a bit of stuff. 7.62x39, 223, 22 mag HP, hunting ammo, and even some 7.62x54R Softpoint ammo. Don't know if its there now or not may want to check if you have one close by and they sell 3 boxes per caliber except when they have bricks of 22 then its only 1 per customer.
