  1. I wonder when mine will come in the mail, last year was so late.
  2. I bought the solid ones that screw in, even bought the drill attachment. Figured those might be better then using wood nailed to a tree.. These are the ones I got... "The Grizzly is one of the largest tree steps available. Designed for the safety-minded hunter, the 6" length and 45° foot peg on this 40-pack of steps makes them easier to climb. No boot is too large for these steps. Strength-tested to 1,500 pounds. For additional safety climbing into your stand, they come complete with a handy 20-foot bow hoist rope with a sturdy clip and screw-in bow holder. Per 40-pack. "
  3. Ahh All American, we go there sometimes, that place is awesome. It was on America's top 10 burger places last year on a show on Food TV.
  4. I'm 100% for it if its supervised, meaning actually sitting with an adult in a blind / stand.
  5. Reminder - License and DMP's avail today, just did my DMP. I just applied for my DMP and got nothing.. Least I'll have some pref points for next year.
  6. I could have sworn antlers posted something here, and it disappeared, am I loosing it?
  7. Just curious, when you encounter a trespasser in the middle of the woods, ask for info... What do you do if they refuse? Its not like a trooper is going to find this guy or whatever if he decides to walk off / run away on you.
  8. I'm going to try to keep the post relevant, maybe move it over to the WMU 3 section.
  9. Rather then get all mixed up in that other AR thread. PLEASE only post if you hunt in these WMU's... I want to know the thoughts of people that are in the WMU's with AR. WMUs 3C, 3H, 3J & 3K. Is it working? What changed? Do you want to to stay or go away?
  10. Really? I just bought them thinking they were safer.
  11. Hah, thats crazy. I guess there are a lot of bear by us. None captured on the trail cam yet.
  12. That is why there are DMP's right? That's why the DEC changes the # of DMP's almost every year by WMU to control the herd.
  13. First off I am a Jets fan, have been since as long as I know what football was. Hard Knocks, its was great, loved it. I love having a coach that speaks his mind. Revis, what a mess, he should be in camp as he is obligated to do so. He is awesome, hands down the best def player we have. But, you have a contract to fulfill, suck it up, you'll get your day.
  14. Never had the opportunity to hunt a bear until this year, whats a mature bear? How do you tell? What weight / size is "mature" and how the heck do you know that from the ground looking at them? I just want to make sure before I got into this years hunting season as I have been told there are bear all over on our property. (No trail cam pics yet though, but neighbors say they are there) ???
  15. But again, how is one or two extra yearlings per square mile going to effect the herd? Its not, even at two or three extra, is that really going to soak up all that extra food where it would prevent another doe / buck to achieve pull potential? There are fields, food plots, and other sources of food around me. Even if there were no plots, I'm sure there is enough to support those additional few deer per sqr mile. Sure I'm all for letting them go to 2 and 3, but how can the state enforce that realistically? They can't, so this is the best alternative right now, allow those 1.5's to grow, get smarter, get bigger. It's not hurting anything, at least give it a go for a few years. From Pine bush where I hunted 15 years and now my current area Cochection, I've herd nothing but positive results. I have no sympathy for weekend hunters that can't get in the woods enough to get a buck, why? because I am one of them. I work to much, don't have a lot of time off, I make sure I spend a few vac days for hunting season. I'm not there every weekend as I'd like. But I much rather see some more mature deer in my area, take a doe here and there to fulfill my meat "wants" and see a more mature buck the following season for me and my fam. I can care less what I get, I don't hunt for the meat or for the rack. I hunt for the fun, the stories, the time with family and just to spend time outdoors. The bigger bucks, racks and maturity are a plus and one I am willing to wait and sacrifice for.
  16. Its not dead in my mind, family's mind, or any hunter I know personally. I bet as stated by Tony if a statewide poll was taken, there would be support. Here is a stat from DEC directly:
  17. What amazes me is these people that shoot unidentified targets. What the hell are they doing? Who does that? Not anyone I know for sure. I rarely if ever pickup my rifle or bow before I see it in plain sight or bino's. Especially since I'm in a AR zone and have our own QDM in place, I need to properly identify what i am shooting and if it meets my goals, my properties goals and the law. Its pretty disgusting actually.
  18. Umm, No. Its in a specific WMU Now. Even state wide, its not going to have some crazy impact to hurt an entire herd. An extra 10k or 20k of bucks is not going to effect an entire state one bit. I'd have to agree, whats 10k extra deer going to do when they give that out x3 in DMP's in some WMU's.

    Practice

I would if I could. I will on my hunting property next weekend tho
  20. Nice, I have not gone in a long time. Fishing the salt is a lot like having land Expensive, and nice to have a family member that has a boat (or land). I spent my summers going out of oceanside to the JB inlet for 10+ years when I was younger.
  21. Yes, in your WMU its a great VOLUNTARY thing to do.

I wish the archery shop by me had a 30 yrd range...
  23. So people actually go to your stand and hang out? Is it near the road / kids / or something?
  24. The thing is you dont have to target the 6 ptrs if you don't want to. Dont shoot anything then, but how will it hurt you by not shooting the spikes?
