LOOKING FOR A POLARIS SPORTSMAN 500cc AND UP
burmjohn replied to skyzmine's topic in Hunting Items For Sale and Trade
make sure you keep an eye on craigslist. Both my brother and I got ours off craigslist. He got a 2004 Polaris 500 with ~190 miles in perfect garaged condition. I got a 2005 kawasaki brute force 750 that wasnt garaged unfortunately but only had 150 miles on it. After a few hours of elbow grease and fluid and plug changes, its like it rolled off the showroom. Both were had for right around the $3000 range. Not bad for these since they go for ridiculous rates from the dealers. -

I might have to get a PH Tester like that, seems nice if its accurate. We sent it off for testing and the levels were low - 4.1 from a combined test. (see attached) -
I'll have to check Gander next weekend when I pass Middletown.

Looking for a good affordable safe, that is fireproof. I'd like to put one in my garage, I have a somewhat climate controlled 1 car garage. I was lucky enough where the slumlord that owned my house before me had made the garage an apartment, so I have baseboard heating in there for the winter that I keep at about 45 degree's (so pipes dont freeze, and so its not to cold in there) I have limited room, so I was thinking of maybe of a 5 gun rifle safe with room for a shelf or two for important papers / stuff and ammo. I'd like to be able to bolt it down to the cement floor if possible so its impossible to move. Any suggestions? The safe's I have seen @ dicks and other places seem so so.

I gave the old man a can of tick spray as part of a fathers day gift basket (among a bunch of other crap). I picked it up @ target. It was tick and mosquito spray. P.S. what I used for the basket was one of those tool bags that attach to a 5 Gallon bucket you can buy at Lowes. Lowes had this tool bag bucket thing in camo for like 75% off, I bought 5 of them heh. I kept 2 for myself, because those 5 gallon buckets with the tool bag things are freaking awesome. They hold a ton of crap in the bucket and you get a ton of little pockets to put stuff in.

To be honest, I am in shock its doing as well at it is. The PH level was a mess, and the lime takes a while to kick in, and will prob need multiple applications. The Lime was put down 1 day before planting (the 15th), its powdered lime, but still, doesn't it take a few months to really lower the PH? Curious to see what the PH is later on in the year about 2 months from now, I'll take a sample and get it checked. -
Whats the best thing to use on bare skin, maybe to complement clothing treatment with this stuff? (Like your arms and head / neck)

Trying not to go to far off topic, but just so everyone knows... The only thing I have moderated on this site was a few curse words, I replaced them with **** and moved a few posts to different categories because of mistakes. Regardless, lets keep this on topic P.S. this site is small but mighty (and growing fast!) Heh , she is only 2 months young believe it or not.

Sits - To be honest, I see the complete opposite. I see more people bringing kids into the sport. As of this year I finally have my own land with my father (who hasnt hunted in 40 years), now my brother (22) is going to hunt for the first time pretty much. I have a cousin, 18 who is now going to have a place to hunt. I boarder a property with people I met for the first time in January where 1/2 their crew are under 21, because its fathers and sons. I was brought into the sport through a "uncle" like person, and hunted on their property since I was 15 and that person introduced god knows how many people to the sport. My buddy who takes his son with him every time they go hunting. And there is no reason why hunters can't bitch about other hunters. Its just venting who gives a crap. and 99% of the stuff said in that thread would and or does irritate me. My wife irritates me from time to time too.

Not sure if there is buckwheat in there, he saved a piece of the bag where it lists the seeds. I'll ask him later. -
Well money could be anything, it could mean meals for the week etc. Although I did not pay my uncle I always brought up trays of stuff for the week (Cutlets, Ziti), bread, cold cuts. And was there to build stands, maintain property, etc.
