  1. Not true. There are reciprocity for NON-residents and Residents. My PA License is good for a lot of other states as a non-resident.
  2. Some more info here about the lawsuit that a few that got denied of a carry because they did not demonstrate good cause for one. "SAF SUES IN NEW YORK TO VOID 'GOOD CAUSE' CARRY PERMIT REQUIREMENT " - http://saf.org/viewpr-new.asp?id=331
  3. I created a new pistol permit thread here to discuss the current process / law : http://huntingny.com/forums/index.php/topic,839.new.html#new
  4. I started this thread because there was another where people were talking about NY state Pistol laws. Anyways, what bothers me is how some counties have their own restrictions / rules / licensing then other counties. In addition, why is it difficult to get a concealed carry? Nassau / Suffolk the fee's are out of hand, the waiting time is nuts, and you must renew every 5 years bringing every pistol as well. What are your thoughts? What exactly constitutes an acceptable "need" to have a concealed carry? Its not clear anywhere that I have read. As I have stated in other threads I find it hard to swallow the fact I have a out of state PA concealed carry pistol permit and have more rights there then in my own home state. And that license gave me reciprocal rights to many other states as well.
  5. I got my PA License two weeks ago. It bothers me that I can get a conceal carry there with no problem and not here in NY because you have to show sufficient need. And besides, in Nassau / Suffolk / Westchester your permit is only good for 5 years and not for life, the fee's are outrageous as well. Maybe these new lawsuits will change this.
  6. This is only my third time getting NY Outdoor News in the mail... Its pretty good, besides the DMP article Doc mentioned there is a pretty good scent article... It covers some of the rituals this guy goes through and why scent control is so important. Especially during bow season, where getting a deer in close important for a successful hunt.
  7. I'd be nervous carrying any decoy in the woods...
  8. My dad and brother are up there today actually. So might have some pics later in the week, at least trail cam pics.
  9. Amazing footage... I really need to turn on the video option. It must hammer the batteries though.
  10. Geno - Patriot is having a 50% off sale on anything in stock with free in home delivery. https://patriotsafe.com/ I'm working up a quote now with them and see if its makes sense. I'd like a 10 gun safe w/1hr fire rating.
  11. Yes we have been getting rain, not a crazy amount but enough to have the plot grow pretty nicely. I just hope the roots get deep enough where they can grab some moisture for the small dry spells we might have in august.
  12. eddie, thats a good idea. In the past we put band iron around the base, but I might try your idea of the 2x6's. Did you put them above and below the base then put one over it? Figured that might work to trap the wood in place secure, but let it slide.
  13. And look what all that schooling did.. Wew thank god they went to school I'm kidding kidding!!!
  14. Along next to Cheney, Bush, and others that had a student deferment for Nam.
  15. I noticed that with the trail cams... Its so odd the patterns. One week you get them every day on the cams at the same time, the next week all of a sudden its every other day. Then the next week its every 3 days, then the week after its back to every day again or even multiple times per day. They change their routes more then you think regardless of season.
  16. Lowes unfortunately is my second home. I was there today actually, to get carpenter ant spray. The neighbors tree was rotted and filled with them, they cut it down today only after I sent 2 certified letters to her and also to the town. Thats a whole other story of fun I'll share when I have time.
