I drove up and down the road so many times that the people who live on it right I was road hunting.....I.was in my truck...I didn't want to take the quad without knowing the trail head first......... care to meet up one day up there? I'll give you Text or call before hand
  2. Cptjack I know big red kill and little red kill rd off of dimmick mountain rd but I dont know about the trails..... can you be a.bit more specific.... where do I find it
  3. Anyone else had similar situation this week??
  4. I.understand everyone's point. I'm just very frustrated. I had higher than normal expectations this year and it makes it worse, I hadn't even seen a doe in the woods. Within 100 yards from my stand is thick briars and cover and a running creek and to the other side is 3 nice rubs presumed from a nice 8ptr or two nice 6 ptrs ive seen... wide 6pointers too.... also plenty of cuts from a recent logging trail and acorns .....
  5. Hey all,.I was hunting up in 4R area and was quite disappointed this year. For the months scouting over the months leading up to season opener I thought I was in for a successful season. I was wrong. Three days before Saturday was the last image of a deer I had on my camera. I.thought the rut and cold would stir stir up daytime activity but I was wrong again. I did two 4 hour posts each day since Saturday, while hardly moving up in the tree and not to see other than a.few squirells. I'm very disjointed and discouraged. Im mindful and covering my scent, im hunting around food areas, and am careful and quiet while going in and out in the dark. What an I doing wrong cause I'm about to quit. I'm real discouraged and let down abd quite frustrated. I didn't even see a doe.
  6. Oh great, another guy in the woods...... lol joking congrats Buffy

Moved my rifles into my safe at my home upstate. No longer need this..... Made of lightweight oak. Gun ribs outlined in felt. Good condition. Well worth it. My cell if u cant reach me thru PM. 9172175698 Marco Asking $125. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  10. He looks good. Eating good and this time of year he is good that good winter fur keeping him warm. He would place in the contest.. prob about 3rd Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  11. I have a idea for any of us may hunt state land. I sometimes use topo maps and gps gpx. Files to scout a property... I'de like to see an exchange of maps section..... not looking for anyones honeyhole but.instead just some general poi, land boundaries, foot notes about the parcel or maybe better areas to park and optimal seasonal roads thru the parcel in case of run off washout or snow... most importantly, if anyone has emergency numbers or safety backup plans abd specific knowledge about certain land parcels that would be good too. ... j just a thought..... but especially for the dep lands, those are poorly posted and poorly surveyed... its sometimes impossible to know who's property your on sometimes, a premarked map or gpx file could help that problem... 12. I'm not so sure about that. It's possible for one specific zone they may make an exception but generally speaking, " Archery only and Shotgun only zones" are exactly as described...... ARCHERY AND SHOTGUN ONLY.... but always consult the DEC book and an officer to be safe..... and be sure of your target and what's behind it in those areas as well.... they are generally tight and close to houses or other private land hence, the initial use of archery / shotgun Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  13. Then no rifle period! But your alllwed to hunt same rules as always minus the rifle Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  14. You see allowed to use s rifle as long as the land is designated for rifle use and not a bow only zone... Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  15. Although it would be very convenient to hunt on Staten Island, I wasnt serious in hoping in them opening a deer season.... I've seen some great bucks around here and this one was a nice size, we saw him out there by the the Lowes..... there are some dense wooded area that would make decent area to hunt but still because of the population and living layout, its just not practicle. Same goes for the turkey. Monster gobblers.....but not practical. ... would be nice to experience the way some of our members live, in the sense that they see able to hunt within minutes of they're homes.... but I'm sure Bloomberg would have another dumb campaign over anything like this.... they are still nice to look at every once in a while when you see a true staten island giant.... last year I spotted what could have been a 180 inch 12ptr. Not too far from where this picture was taken My jaw hit the dashboard.... made my day thought... Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  16. This is a great buck from staten island... NYC baby.... wish they would let us draw a few tags here Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  17. Alg11 talk to me man.. my schedule is nuts but I'll get out with ya Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  18. Hey greenhunter.. never heard back from you on the above post.. are any of your trails still open? Need any work around the property? Ide help out if you let me ride a bit? Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  19. Newbreed no.worries man, I was still subscribed and was just cruising the road the other day when a trooper pulled me over... thankfully he just have me a warning but still, I have not many private areas to ride and it's becoming discouraging... I wish i had a local place to ride, the parks are nice but ours more of a weekend thing.. I just like to blaze a few trails mid day after lunch or before dark.... trying to find anyone in Roxbury margaretville area willing to do the same that knows a place to ride some good trails.... even bearpen mountain is off limits now from what I hear... orange co.

Hey all. I've hunted that area up orange turnpike and by Indian hill trail and all around the pond. There is unfortunately not much activity other than people walking they're dogs thru the woods dressed in LL Bean catalog clothing. I may give it another shot this year. Sterling forest I've never had much luck, I've coyote hunted turkey hunted and deer hunted , the only thing I ever brought home was ticks. Ticks all over my body, even later into deer season. If anyone hunts here I strongly suggest tick and bug repelant. The woman at the desk wherei got my permit mentioned it but I didn't believe they would be around after the first few freezes if the year. She also mentioned rattle.snakes and once again I didn't believe her. Once again, I was.wrong... You can even hear.them around.the power lines . Just be mindful, it is a antler restrictions area and you MUST bring the deer to the deer check station and submit samples. I'm not sure if they still have the deer pickup service. Anyone else have knowledge about this ? Sent from my PG41200 using Tapatalk 2
  21. Thanks for thee info fellas. The property has electric on it so I think I can convert a 110 line to the trailer. As for the truck, it's a 2006 4.8 keep grand cherokee.., they also make a 5.8 l hemi. had never noticed the Rv thread here so if anyone wants to move this feel free. In. not sure how big I want this camper to be I'm basically shopping on a budget. I would prefer a model with a full slide out instead of the pop out tent, like extensions used for bed area but I know that the slide out models cost more money.
  22. Give them a call. They will probably ask you top come down to a meeting and feel you out. at that point you'll meet many members and get your three letters right there... Sometimes they actually even waive. Just call and speak to a officer.
