  1. i knocked on a lot of doors.. i got flat out no's . it gets discouraging.. my friend had better luck.. first 3 farms he knocked on he landed a place to hunt coyote's and predator and two places to deer hunt.. and one farmer also asked my boy if he'd like a phone call when he cuts all the grass so he can come and target shoot the woodchucks ... all i did was waste gas..
  2. nice. thats awesome john.. i always pass these online coupons around when i come across them.. glad to see this thread of the forum..
  3. Well. ere not actually out of the woods yet... the bill might have another shot.. we need to get busy and call call call the senators on the list i provided in the Legislation thread on the forum..... we need to stop this guys.. bloomberg cant always get his way just cause he feels like it.. . we as gun owners cant afford any more hands around our necks.... before you know it, it will be like great britan and guns will be outlaw'd ..... call the senators and tell them you are not in support of the bill and they should not be either.. . if you dont act , no one will act for you.
  4. hey Sbuff.. im not in the market for a new bow, but i think you should also put the draw lenght and weight on the advertisement as well.. might help ya a bit.
  5. ide like to give them a shot one day.. literally... lmao. when i was turkey hunting last month, i was getting real vocal with the call at one point and I think i heard a grouse making that kinda purring cluck noise.. .similar to a pigeon but louder i didnt see it i am just taking a guess it was a grouse....... .. there was also another song bird which i couldnt see that was also talking back to me everytime ide cluck and work the hen call... . the songbird kinda had a melody of a doorbell in the sense where it would pitch a noise working it up and slowly down ( you must think im nuts ) ... it was nice to hear, just wish i woulda seen it..
  6. hey Norhtern.. Im just curious.. and i hate to sound like a dumb ass but exactlyt how do you collect the urine from the deer ? does someone actually follow each deer around with a big bucket ? really how do ya ?
  7. we have a john deer tow behind for the lawnmower and it has a pin anchor for hitch attachment so i put the pin in the hitch on my quad and works great.. the john deere was about $100 bucks and it is also tiltable which is good if your working or dumping wood or dirt/ sand in a hurry...
  8. sportsmanguide is ghreat and even better if you belong to the club.. ive also used Zappos.com for boots and my hiking shoes from northface... free shipping both way and up to a year to return... . seriously, how can you compete ?? ive also used Joessportinggoods.com he was ok, cabelas has a great return policy though.. almost forgot to mention goinggear.com they have some good outdoors gear too.. great flashlights..
  9. I agree. the leupold scopes are definetly top of the line. I have my eye on a vx-3l for a new rifle i been thinking about ... but its really expensive.. nikon is a good company as well as zeiss and of course swarvoski.. but idk anyone who has enough $$ for a swarvoski.. one thing good about leupold is that its american made.. thats a hard to find quality in anything nowadays. i think they have a good waranty too. but i think my next optic will be a nikon or zeiss... well have to see.
  10. good.. it is a bullshit bill. it only affects people whom have theyre guns legally, not the criminals.. If You outlaw guns, then only Outlaws will have guns-
  11. got it .. its funny how this huy makes it look so easyy.. when we do it, it seems like an all day affair.. i guess the more you do it , the easier it gets... if i need to be better butcher, i better start shooting more deer
  12. i gave it about a minute to load and for some reason it wasnt loading, but i was able to hear music.. is this video on youtube ?
  13. ive never been hunting for grouse , but ive been pheasant hunting... is iit pretty much he same but instead of empty fields , they lay more in wooded area's right ?
  14. lmao. i shoulda clicked your lattached link b4 i typed my post.. i just read it ..lol
  15. i dont have a andriod based phone but a friend of mine just got the droid incredible for verizon.. its insane.. i have the LG Dare and i love it. my verizon cellphone works in allot of area's upstate , the rest of the fam has atnt and tmobile and they cant find service anywhere.. the droid platform is pretty sick.. i know i know , its not a iphone , and is can be called the "I phone bite off " but the apps are increrasing with the platform and it is really cool to use.. i personally was really hoping verizon would release the iphone but i guess the cloeses we will come to seeing that now will be next june with the end of the contract.. they dont as of yet make a iphone for cdma technology .. which is what verizon works off.. a friend tells me that you can hack the iphone to work with verizon if you currently have a verizon blackberry and use the sim card and some other program called jailbreak but the phone cant be insured and you void the waranty so if you lose it , your basically beat.. . the nex iphone is very cool though.. i perosnally dont trust myself with all that access to all those apps.. my phone bill would be outrageous.. primos makes a app for iphone .. it makes different animal sounds , grunts and bleets .. deer, turkey, and a few others , i cant remember.. i am due for an upgrade so i think next month , i am going to spring for the new droid incredible.. the version sprint has is called the EVO i think , not really sure of the name , but i also saw that one.. its like a minature plasma television in your pocket.. roughly 6 inch screen ... and it stands alons on a built in stand so you can stream video on theyre 4g network.. its awesome too.. ill let ya know in a few weeks if iget the droid.
  16. i dont know if its gonna be that good this year.. i dont want to sound like the rotten apple but i think the massive amounts of snow that we had this year will have played a major role in the survival of deer and yearlings with the snow blocking all food sources for a few weeks... i had gone up in march, and there was still ample snow on the gound from the two big storms... thats a long time.. anyone else think the same ?
  17. Always have something orange on.. i even wrapped some orange trail tape around the tree i had on dep land...
  18. not exactly sure but i think its the second week of august. . i just bought mine this year and it will be the first time i will be recieving mine as well.. im not too sure as to what to do for the dmp..
  19. i didnt start using decoy's till about 3 years ago/ i always had birds getting hung up on me.. i was able to get a tom or jake into the area, but then wasnt able to get him into range. . then i went out and bought two styrofoam hen decoy's from gander.. they were the chaepest ones in the selection.. i dont even know who the company was that made them. all i can say is in the first two spring seasons, i shot two birds in two days.. i never really do much turkey in the fall , i havent even attempted to use the decoys in the fall but i doubt they will work as well. this spring, i wasnt as lucky.. i got squat.. i wasnt able to hunt my regular spot for turkey , hopefully , the birds arent educated about my decoy's maybe ill buy a new decoy , a tom , and put him out with the two hens next year and see what kind of trouble i can stir up..
  20. dave . thanks for the advice , i had never heard about using 1 SS per one focal length..and i think i am going to go with a monopod instead of a tripod.. i think most of my shots will probably be on the fly and a monopod will be easier to swing around on my journey's .. thakns again. ill be looking foward to seeint new photo's on the page.. tack care , mark
  21. Broccoli rabe with orecchetti and sausage.. mmmm....... lmao . its 5am.. now i have to turn the stove on..
  22. Dave , you have some incredible photo's here and on your blog. I love photography recently purchased my first DSLR. Im still learning about f-stop apeture and still learning how to use most of the custom modes on the camera itself. its a canon Rebel XS. I have a 18-55 lens with Image stabilization and a 75-300 telephoto lens. I been trying to get some good photo's but with the lens not set on a tripod, i keep getting blur. wildlife is tough on the fly if you cant get close. That 200-400 lens must have cost ya a fortune.. I am looking into buying a new lens. I'de like to go for a super wide angle lens or maybe a telephoto zoom. IDK.. money is a big issue with anything right now , so maybe ill wind up just getting a good prime lens for some wide angle shots or portraits. got any pointers or advice ??? awesome blog man..
  23. ya, we have a purple one in my back yard here.. in the past few years, i cut soooo many branches and passed them out to friends and now they have beautiful trees of theyre own.. i want to try to do it again upstate.. i think if i plant one a little later or closer to end of may and wrap it up really good earlier in october, or late september, it may have a chance.. ahhh.. well see. i think that would attract deer and lots lots of bear.. excellent food source from that tree alone
  24. it does get the blood flowing.. its a little harsh but once you get used to it, it becomes a refined taste, and at a certain point, you can actually distinguish differences in each batch and from different person who makes it.
  25. SUzuki 750 Kingquad. My bro oin laws have a 750 also and a yamaha grizzly 600. Love this thing. I just wish I had somewhere else to ride.. we only have a 5 acre open field. Only when I goto friends house in gilboa, he has some nice trails but that means a trailer ride for 25 miles.. cant just jump on.. I sometimes just ride in the street , and go around the mountain .. etc ..etc.. there is bearpen park not too far , but its risky, alot of locals ride there. the park officer kinda turns the blind eye, but trails are state land and you can get a ticket.. its only 10 minutes from me.. Wish i had places to ride.. sucks with out them I wish NY would mimic PA and allow some state trails for seasonal use. Its only fair.. I paid taxes and regestration fees out the ass and thats only to ride on YOUR OWN PROP. anyone know of any open trails ?
