and maybe if the people were obeying the law, there would have been no fatalities. I want to qualify, I did not post this about BO. I posted this to show the positive efforts of instructors.
-
yup I knew this is where it would go. OH well maybe

I know where this will end up but had to post it. Good job guys and gals DEC: 2011 TIES FOR SAFEST YEAR IN NEW YORK HUNTING HISTORY The 2011 hunting season tied 2009 for New York State’s safest year of hunting on record . “Hunting is a tradition in New York state that continues to be safely enjoyed by many” said DEC Commissioner Joe Martens. “New York has an extremely safety-conscious generation of hunters thanks largely to more than 60 years of dedicated efforts of 3,000 volunteer Sportsman Education Instructors. All first-time hunters are required to attend a comprehensive hunter safety course of a minimum of 10 hours taught by DEC’s highly-trained instructors. Their hard work is paying off.” In the 2011 hunting seasons, 26 personal injury hunting-related shooting incidents were reported, including four fatalities. All of the fatalities occurred during the regular deer season, one of which was self-inflicted. The number of hunters in New York State is declining, but the hunting incident rate (incidents per 100,000 hunters) is falling at a much faster rate. Since the 1960s, the number of hunters has declined about 20 percent, while the incident rate has declined more than 70 percent. The past five-year average is 5.3 incidents per 100,000 hunters, compared to 19 per 100,000 in the 1960s

he will keep comingback and bragging he got back in. again what a maroon
-
I would think it would help hunting in a couple years unless you want to blast all the fawns this coming fall.
-
I think as I understand it all you need is one component either powder ball or cap.
-
the best way for it to end is to just ignore his assanine comments and talk around him. When he gets no response to his stupidity, he will go away.
-
and an unpopular type kid. The kind you would expect to bring a gun to school and brag about it and claim he was bullied. It is truly a sad case. If he wasnt such a jerk, I would feel sorry for him.
-
He is about 14 and mad because mom has to walk the streets at night to get him dial up when he deserves high speed. Just a punk kid taking a shot at being cool is all. Unfortunately he is way way left of the bullseye. What is the world coming to? This

and you guys think I am bad geesh as bugs says what a maroon
-
and you are right the road blocks here suck every week. But they are catching illegal smokes and drugs. Maybe we can hunt together this fall if you dont shoot at me lol.
-
needed for both but can not use a revolver for special ml season is all.
-
yes in ny state it is. And to use it for muzzleloading season, it has to be a single shot that loads through the muzzle, not a black powder revolver.
-
Ty Ncountry for being a voice of reason. Unfortunately like me you will be labeled a north country hick who knows nothing about how the real world works. BTW when was the last time you got shot at? That is why I do not go to the southern tier
-
identify your target and well beyond simple as that.
-
it wasnt an approval it was a fact.
-
yeah we can continue to go back and forth about this forever. Myself am getting tired of you typing the same thing then me typing the same thing. What it will be, it will be. Just stating the reasons the governor vetoed it and my reasons for stating if mandatory it should be in all big game seasons. You can see it as you see it and I will do the same. And my last thought if people obeyed the laws, 90 percent of hunting accidents would go away. So enforce the laws make people follow them, and lives will be saved.

--LEGAL BULLETIN SERVICE------------------#1 RE: BLACK POWDER - MUZZLE-LOADING WEAPONS BAN PENAL LAW 265.01 (4), WHICH PROHIBITS A PERSON CONVICTED OF A FELONY OR SERIOUS OFFENSE FROM POSSESSING A RIFLE OR SHOTGUN HAS BEEN AMENDED TO INCLUDE WITHIN THE PROHIBITION AN ANTIQUE FIREARM, BLACK POWDER RIFLE, BLACK POWDER SHOTGUN, OR ANY MUZZLE-LOADING FIREARM. EFFECTIVE JANUARY 30TH, POSSESSION OF THESE WEAPONS BY A PERSON WHO IS CURRENTLY PROHIBITED, UNDER SUBDIVISION 4, FROM POSSESSING A RIFLE OR SHOTGUN, MAY BE ARRESTED FOR THE MISDEMEANOR CHARGE OF CRIMINAL POSSESSION OF A WEAPON IN THE FOURTH DEGREE. THIS AMENDMENT WAS PASSED IN RESPONSE TO THE SHOOTINGS OF TROOP B TROOPERS AMANDA REIF IN 2007 AND GEORGE STANNARD IN 2008. BOTH TROOPERS WERE SHOT WITH MUZZLE-LOADING WEAPONS BY ASSAILANTS WHO WERE OTHERWISE PROHIBITED FROM POSSESSING RIFLES OR SHOTGUNS AT THE TIME OF THE ASSAULTS

Where did I ever say to shoot at running game. There was once in this state BO passed the legislature and Governor Pataki vetoed it stating it was the states stance that it will condition people to look for only orange before shooting, and this was a major concern, which was agreed upon with the DEC. SInce it has not been brought up for a vote again in NY I would say that is the stance NY still has officially. Just my interpretation. Feel free to google it and see. Those words were in the Govornors response with his veto. Again I am not for mandatory blaze orange, but if it were to become an issue in the legislature again, I would support it for all seasons to include archery and muzzleloading, not just pick and choose which ones there will be less resistance. If as the biologists all say deer do not see it, it would make sense to me that all people be as safe as possible, not just a chosen few. Most shooting accidents take place at close distance which can be done with a bow as well as a muzzleloader.

2 daughters oldest is 23 has a bachelors in music and English education working on her masters. Her plan is to be a music teacher someday. She currently is making a boat load of money doing private music lessons and is a night manager at a local Wal-mart. Woodwinds are her specialty. My youngest will be 21 in April. She is currently in her last semester of nursing at the local college (suny canton)and will graduate in May. She plans to go on for her bachelors and plans to be a nurse practitioner. She currently works in a home for developmentally disabled persons as well as school. They will both have good careers to take care of me in my old age lol.

only the southern tier has to wear a tag. In the north where it is much calmer we dont have to. As far as the hours you may as well. 90 percent of hunters do so anyway
-
fair enough I guess. How about if I write them and ask and post the reply? Logically there must be a reason it has not passed here in NY and the one time it did, the governor vetoed it. Someone wants it to not be a law. Maybe the antis hoping we will all kill each other
-
it did take a bit to get used to but it works very well... They are actually doing cataract surgery now and doing it the same. They implant one lens for distance and one for up close. Ask about it next time you go.

yes we have heard all the newbie on here and all the influence we have on them over and over. I am sorry that you see my opinions as belittling BO. But I am entitled to my opinion about the true effectiveness of it. If that ruffles some feathers so be it. Again I have to ask if it is so effective why is it not mandatory and why is the DEC against it becoming mandatory? I again point out if the DEC was for it, it would have been law a while ago. Sya a lot about it I think. If that is belittling it, I guess I am belittling it.
