  1. well my group paid for one for a week and various groups are doing the same
  2. I was away for a while, but I remember reading this exact thread last year. The names were changed to protect the innocent.
  3. I think I read he got a 30-30. I have a 3000 savage I load for and I have no qualms with a 150 grain bullet and 40.4 grains of IMR 4895 to reach out 200 yards with great accuracy and effective killing. Most do not know this, but the 300 savage is what the 308 was designed after. A longer neck is about the only difference. It was the military cartridge before the 308 was designed. Ballistically very comparable to the 308 everyone touts. Do not knock one until you try one. But as I said he decided on a 30-30 but I love watching the pissing match

    5 more days

Due to reasons I do not carer to into, I am not archery hunting this year. However, I work this week then have two off to hunt the week of early muzzeloading and the first week of regular season here in the north. Good luck to all the front stuffers heading out.
  5. Did you or do you report the illegal activity? If not you are just as guilty. I know I know dec sucks never get anyone to show up etc etc.
  6. my group the northern new york freedom fighters have them in st lawrence county. 5 bucks each just what we pay for them. www.nnyfreedomfighters.us
  7. oops my bad I though ti said stand not blind.
  8. Great story but I would edit it just a bit. On page 39 of the regulation book it clearly states the youth must be on the ground and can not hunt from a stand. Great job though
  9. probably duck hunters here in the north
  10. Late to jump in, but I bought a savage axis in 7-08. I took the bushnel off that came with it and replaced it with a nikon buckmasters 3x9x40. 140 grain remington corelokt and 41 grains of varget and it shoots inch and a half groups at 100 yards. I personally am one who handloads to get the optimal out of a gun. Then when I get there, I find that gun boring and either trade it or i tends up sitting in the safe. Not this one, I really like the way it handles, shoots and feels o n my shoulder.
  11. and how many youth deer hunters have you run into?
  12. not one incident last year. let's hope for the same this year.
  13. I bought two extra batteries and I charge them and take them with me. I have never used any of the chargers you asked about.
  14. ok my 2 cents. You will not find a lot of difference between the 2. I personally would pick the 270. I am a fan of lighter bullets and frankly the deer bear or up to a moose will not know the difference. The bigger factor as in any caliber is shot placement. You can get a variety of bullets for the 270 also. I have loaded 100 grain varmint loads up to 150 grain deer/bear loads. My personal preference is the 130 grain, which is deadly on deer bear etc. Find a gun that fits you well, and that will make a big difference also. Good luck and safe hunting.

    7j

Does anyone know of any decent public land in 7j? I got a permit for there and am contemplating a trip there for a weekend. if not, I will put it up for a give away. I have been looking on thecmap and it does not look like a lot of public land
