The NRA also ran an article in their magazine several months back saying that it's not the government agencies responsible for the shortage, but the everyday consumer who's responsible for the shortage....people are buying up the ammo at an unprecedented rate.
-
The problem is, is that everyone is afraid of being the one who missed what they think is a "sign" that may lead to some perceived type of potentially violent behavior, and the result is these ridiculous knee jerk reactions......and make no mistake, we're going to see more and more of it coming from our schools and medical professionals who are afraid to take something for more than what it is......it's only going to get worse.

There is no shortage of gun owners who are clueless about the Safe Act...which leads me to believe there will not be that many people thinking about it when they go to vote this November.

When I took my handgun safety course the instructor told us that you can not shoot an intruder in your home unless they are using deadly force against you.
if they were already using it against you, it's probably too late to help yourself............ I have to disagree with that, now chasing someone down the street and shooting him in the back in someone else's yard may get you in a bit of trouble, but inside your own home? I would think not.
-
looks like he shot one of them in the back in a neighbors yard, whatever they presented to the Grand Jury was obviously enough to get an indictment.
-
What part of NYS are you from?
eastern L.I.
-
the "burgler" holding the gun wasn't the one shot and killed it was someone else accompanying the "burgler" who was outside of that confrontation...........there's more we're not hearing or seeing.
-
a three second clip offered up by the shooters family....I'll pass on making a judgement based on that.

Beautiful rifle, JB...Very classy...
Don't sell it to a gunshop...They will only pay perhaps half of what it is worth.
I'd put a proper scope on it ( like a Leupold fixed 6X) and go kill stuff with it.
If someone offers you more money for it than you think it's worth, use your own judgement.
As long as you take good care of it, it is never going to depreciate in value..It's value will only increase
yeah, I would never sell to a gunshop, was just hoping they would give me an idea of what its worth is....no such luck, I'm well aware of how they work....the scope that's on it is unique, although probably worth nothing (Bushnell), it has a dial on it that you can change from regular crosshairs to post and crosshair.

thanks, this seems to be what I have or at least an accurate picture, looks almost identical, but mine has open sights.

It's not a varmint and doesn't have a beaver tail forend.
You need to figure out if it's a number one or three.
definitely a No. 1, that's stamped on top of the receiver......I've brought it to a few gunshops, but don't really trust them, seems they get the impression I'm looking to dump it for a quick buck and kinda lowball me on it's value.
-
yeah, it really is a nice gun, and accurate as can be.....that's why I'm trying to find out what it's really worth to someone who appreciates what it is, I will only sell it for top dollar, I inherited it and it cost me nothing, that's why I'll hang onto it unless I get a good offer. It was used once for hunting in Africa by a relative who went on a Safari back in the late 60's, he bought that and a .300 Weatherby magnum just to go, the .243 was used for smaller game and the .300 for the bigger stuff.
-
That's not a lever action 243, is it?
X-Calibur Lighting Systems
no, single shot, I think it's considered a rolling block.

Is it a beavertail forend with a heavy barrel?
I believe so, it's not a light gun by any means......I'll try to post a picture.
-
no, forearm doesn't have that cutout in the front and the forearm is longer with the front sling swivel stud in it and the end of the barrel doesn't have the "bell" on the end.
-
Is it a full stock, International? Either one is a cool gun..........
not a full stock international, not sure what it would be considered....I have to do more research., I'm going to call Ruger next week and see what info they can give me.
-
it is, but only because someone expressed an interest, I wasn't actively selling it......... once I took it out of the cabinet and handled I pretty much decided I would only part with it for top dollar.
-
You can get a ton of info. from Gubroker but you must join. It is of course free and the resource is invaluable, IMO.
Once you join you can go to "completed auctions" and see WTH the scoop is.
Do you want to offer up what the gun is in question?
Ruger No. 1 in .243 that I would say is in 90% or better condition.....4 digit serial #, red butt pad and pre-warning.....I'm told those add value.
-
does anyone know of any reliable online resources for determining a guns value, or is getting a blue book of gun values my best bet?
-
nice collection....

Asked if he could outspend the National Rifle Association and other opponents of gun control measures, Bloomberg casually replied, “Oh sure.”

I think he may very well have more money to spend than the NRA........he's worth 33 Billion dollars.
