  1. A gun that is too big and sits at home in the safe is NFG also.

that's exactly what I'm saying.....I'd rather have a small comfortable carry gun than one that is too big to carry that I can't get out quick enough if the need should arise....I'd much rather be able to pull a gun out of my front pocket than have to reach under my coat and and try to get it out of a holster.

  2. The ATV was registered and insured . This was in Yates County . I didn't see what was written on the ticket but the guy showed it to a couple others . He said he was told that the shoulder of the road was part of the highway . Something like , private property starts 30' from the center of the road .

Maybe the Deputy was having a bad day .

yeah, I would think the shoulder of a roadway is considered part of the public highway / roadway........the shoulders are maintained by the county, state and or town.

  3. Gun,holster, belt cover garment. It's a system with the right parts bigger guns can be carried.

Today there are plenty of compact and subcompact 9mm and .40 cal that I think would serve you better, many have been mentioned above. Karh, SW Shield ,baby Glocks, the Rugars ,there are more but trying to keep it simpler .

    Visit a gun shop.

Btw I have a LCP it ok for what it is, but I found the finger tip extension and Hogues Handall grip really makes a differance . I would not pick it as a first line defense against armed robbers though.

I have the LCP as well and it is a nice compact carry gun, but I think if you have to start adding stuff to it to make it bigger and more comfortable you should really look into a compact that is slightly bigger and more comfortable to shoot from the start......

  4. I think its pathetic that people on this site have so little to do with their time that they spend it like middle school students by posting sarcastic replies to people seeking genuine answers to questions. Are these adults?  I guess some are stuck in perpetual adolescence.

you're 100% right, this guy asked for us to name the animal and he got a bunch of childish answers..........I would name that animal Roscoe.

  5. I guess if you're the recipient of the healthcare that's getting subsidized by successful people it isn't a bad thing, if you're one of the others, who are doing the subsidizing it may not seem as good....much like if you still live with your parents and all you need to worry about is what you're going to do Saturday night and nothing else matters.

  6. these days, It really is a good idea to know exactly what your permit allows you.......also not a bad idea to familiarize yourself with the penal law on weapons possession, and the Safe Act........one small screw up that could result in having your pistol permit revoked, could also result in more extreme consequences.

  7. not to be a killjoy, but a simple "for hunting" is all you need to say....some people already have a negative view of hunters, saying something like that doesn't really help our cause.

  8. I'm pretty sure you're required to carry under the laws / restrictions placed on you by your issuing agency and can carry as such anywhere in NY except in NYC.......I think all handguns must be carried concealed in NY unless you're engaged in an activity that requires it to be exposed, such as hunting, target shooting or uniformed security work.......at least in Suffolk that's how it is and in Suffolk, it's darn near impossible to get a full unrestricted carry permit.....you're safest  bet would be to call ahead to anyplace you plan on travelling to and asking.

  9. This is what I did and strongly suggest it, as it may save you money buying another gun down the road.......I bought my daughter an adult sized 870 20 gauge, and bought a youth stock to put on it............after she outgrew the youth stock, I put the adult stock back on, problem solved and money saved.

  10. pretty much what we're looking at is a few second clip provided by the guys family..........there's gotta be quite a bit more video that we're not seeing, and there must have been something to convince the Grand Jury to hand down an indictment....if it was a legit burglary and shooting, I doubt we would see this happening.

  11. I am pretty sure that if its says US Property...aka US Govt....then possession of it is not a good thing

not a problem at all,  legally registered, traced back through history to see where they came from and the whole 9 yards.....so not a concern at all, actually if you check gun auction sites there's a lot of old guns with such stamps out there, this just seems to be a little on the rarer side and I've yet to get a good answer on it's value.....if you're wondering what traced means, I obtained that handgun and a few other undocumented relics from a deceased relatives estate, I turned them in to my local Police Dept, and they ran a trace through the ATF to determine if they were "clean", once they came back ok, I was able to register them and take legal possession, all legit.

  12. but seriously, what is the exact issue she has with guns? once you know that you can work on coming to an agreement on how to avoid what she's worried about.........second amendment probably won't work, I tried using my freedom of speech to say what I feel a few times at home and it didn't go well.

  13. of course we need to abide by the law.....should the day come when they start collecting law abiding citizens guns....god help them....they are going to seize all the registered guns first, they know where and who to go to. So that leaves us in theory ...that the unlawful and criminals are going to be only ones with the guns....so what happens when the bad guys know that they are the only ones with guns??...the good will suffer.

I have no desire to suffer

there are so may undocumented guns out there, meaning no one knows who owns what anymore, that it would make their heads spin if they ever tried tracing them all.........it's gonna be a very expensive, man power exhaustive endeavor should they ever decide to take it on.

  14. NYIndy, speaking of you won't let no one in your house. The Supreme Court just ruled if one person says not to a search and another person says yes, the LEO can enter your house. So everyone needs to be clear and inform all people in the house to always say no.

yup, if your wife is pissed off at you and the marriage is going south, all bets are off..............or at least have everyone on the same page if things are good.
