  1. Happens 2 or three times a year. We have just learned to ignore it or he pulls out the entire story.I've heard it so many times I feel like I was there.

    that could be the reason they stopped doing them.........after hearing him tell the story they decided it wasn't worth it.

  3. When I bought my TC ML, I filled out a registration card and mailed it back to TC in order to be notified in case of a recall like this.  Did you do that?

    If I were you, if you don't have a backup, I'd just hunt with it then send it in after the season.  Just keep an extra eye on your safety.

    I registered it online with them, never notified...........yeah, it looks like the safety may move forward when closing the bolt, I have a habit of checking it a few times while hunting. I have a few backups, just haven't shot them this year. I'm gonna call them tomorrow and make sure the safety is physically moved forward or just fails internally just to make sure...........just a major inconvenience, since the scope has to be removed in order for it to be shipped back in the original box.

  4. It's amazing that even full time residents have major trespasser problems.............I hate to think what goes on at property that only has part time residents. There is no doubt that certain people know who's around and who's not, and take full advantage of it.

  5. That's a valid point jjb, but we really don't want to let it go too far.  We already can get summonses for moving violations captured by cameras, and stuff like that.  Almost get strip searched boarding planes and entering government offices and landmarks.  We are living in a completely different world, though.  Most of us don't trust just every joe blow on the street either, why should we think government, law enforcement or anyone else should have complete trust in them?  Will NEVER happen again.  Those that think we are losing too many rights in this country can go ANYWHERE else in the world, and I can guarantee them that they will have even less rights wherever they would choose to go.  Humanity has made this type of world for themselves, so it leaves us now with very few alternatives.  Blasting off into space might be the only escape from it.

    I was just saying why it's done............not really approving of how it's done.

  6. it's DEC's busy time of year to catch violator's, unfortunately it's at an inconvenience to many. I don't see it as any different than increased patrols around certain holidays, the big "clickit or ticket" seatbelt crackdown that happens every year and now the targeting of cell phone users..........just another busy time of year to grab some revenue for the state............I don't see it as targeting hunters, more of targeting the" flavor of the month" to make some money.

  7. If your going to mount the buck hang it by its hind legs. The blood fills the neck and keeps the hair healthy. Makes for a much better mount.

    Other than that as long as the nighttime temps are chilly, you should be fine for a day or two.

    I've had a deer hang for 3 days before bringing it to the butcher and lost no meat. Make sure you put a stick inside to keep the rib cage open so the air can get to it. Temps were around 40-45 during he day and 30-40 nighttime.

    is it possible to keep something that's dead healthy? I was always under the impression that once something dies, all life functions cease.

  8. i have been in business over 12years and booked over 1000 hunts and had 1000's of happy clients and returning clients how much bad stuff do you read about me on the internet?? not mucg problem is when clients are happy they dont tell anyone or go on websites and talk about it. once in awhile you will have a clkient like this gentleman and i do hvae hunts in Colorado,montana,canada,Utah and many more area's for mule deer thanks Rich

    you should proofread before you post.........either way, I think your credibility is shot here, best to stop posting on this subject.

  9. As Bubba said, the majority of hunting accidents/shootings occur between members of the same hunting party and occur at close range.............the incidents of people being shot by long range shots gone wrong are far and few between...either way, be aware of what lies behind your intended target.

  10. If you've done nothing wrong, I don't see the point in giving them a hard time, the only one who's gonna be inconvenienced is you.....they're there getting paid anyway........if they feel they need to get a search warrant and make you sit around for hours, probably be even better, they'll more than likely get overtime and I doubt they'll go through the trouble for routine stops that won't pan out............and telling them you'll see them in court doesn't bother them either it's part of their job, as is losing cases, which believe it or not really doesn't bother most cops. Remember this, they may tell you the consequences of not complying, but they are allowed to use deception to get you to confess to something they may have not found out otherwise, know your rights and be smart about when to give them a hard time and when not to.

  11. if the deer is in plain view; can they search your firearm case?

    if there is blood trickling out the tailgate of your tonneau covered bed; can they search the bed and then the firearm case?

    if you're decked out in hunting camo, boots etc. can they search your bed?

    if they have cause to believe a violation of the ECL has occured.........I think the question many have asked is if ECO's have different rules than other agency's and the answer is yes, depending on the circumstance.

  12. Yup you did. And it still specifies "cause". There still is no authority to search without cause

    that applies to ECO's, not your local police dept....that's the point I'm making..............you're local police cannot search your shed on cause without a warrant, ECO's can.

  13. § 71-0525. Powers of designated departmental officers and employees and members of the state police

    1. All police officers, such employees as may be designated by the commissioner, and all peace officers, when acting pursuant to their special duties, shall enforce the provisions of this chapter listed in section 71-0501 or under titles 5 through 15 inclusive and title 33 of this article, or of judgments obtained for violation thereof, and shall have, particularly, the following powers:

    a. To execute all warrants and search warrants issued for violation of articles 11 and 13 and titles [FN1] 9 of this article and to serve subpoenas issued for examination, investigation or trial of offenses against any of its provisions;

    b. To search without search warrant any boat or vehicle of any kind, any box, locker, basket, creel, crate, game bag, package or any container of any nature and the contents of any building other than a dwelling whenever they have cause to believe that any provision of this article or of any law for the protection of fish, shellfish, crustacea, wildlife, game or protected insects has been or is being violated, and to use such force as may be necessary for the purpose of examination and search;

    [FN1] So in original. Probably should read “title.”

  14. If you conduct yourself as WNY said there would be no lying. If they asked to se my long guns they would be headed for a warrant to do so. Why? Becasue that is how the game is played. If they want more rules they better be prepared to play by all of them as well.

    as someone said earlier, ECO's have slightly different rules when it comes to warrantless searches than other law enforcement agency's.........if you get stopped at a deer check where there are other Officer's and you can be detained while they grant your request, you may just get it.........if it's just you and him in a remote location, it will be a different story.

  15. No,if you go back n forth between the images and look at the fletchings there is an angle change. I thought the same as you at first.

    but, there is also a change in the position/angle of the deer......that may cause a change in the angle of the arrow and how it appears.

  16. Well I will only take what I can and will eat and/or what I know I can give away.  I don't intend to hunt for the sake of hunting, but if I do have good fortune I might bag an extra one for you guys haha.

    so, you don't enjoy the "hunting" itself? I hunt just for the sake of hunting.........if I get a deer or two that's the added bonus.
