  1. almost like hooking up with a really attractive woman, and then finding out afterwards that your friends hired her to do it...............while enjoyable before you knew, after you found out it wouldn't be the accomplishment you thought it was.
  2. http://www.watertowndailytimes.com/article/20121003/NEWS03/710039822
  3. I think these days, guys who take potential records usually photograph the kill site and have another person present to back up the validity of the kill just to avoid this type of skepticism...........wasn't there a story in NY last year where a guy tried to pull a fast one, and when asked to provide proof, was unable to back up his BS story and eventually he was outed as being full of crap?
  4. I guess you have to check them at some point, how else would you know if there's anything in the area?
  5. I guess it could be worse, there's plenty of guys who actually shoot the animals on enclosed game preserves, have them mounted and brag about them..........if taken fair chase without prior knowledge, I would probably mount it, bragging about it after learning the facts and if it was known to many the circumstances of how it came to be, would probably prevent me from doing so.
  6. http://www.dec.ny.gov/press/93218.html take a look at this
  7. I would think they're pretty easy to find, try Cabela's or MidwayUSA.......it may not be something your local gunshop keeps in stock.
  8. it would be helpful to know where you live and what career you think would make you happy..........I know people who live in great areas upstate, but the commute to work kills them, there's a lot of things to consider.
  9. I had a similar story with a Ruger pistol, I messed it up royally and they fixed everything free of charge and even paid the return shipping.
  10. Lol...I almost responded after the first sentence.....
  11. I would get zero enjoyment out of scouting from behind a computer screen, but that's just me.......I've been hunting my area long enough to know the productive spots, and am willing to roll the dice and take what is offered. I'm not obsessed with big antlers, and if that's the reason someone wants to do this fine, but not for me...........my guess is, if you're going this route you already know it's a good spot, otherwise you would have to travel up anyway and move the camera when you realize the area is non productive.
  12. remember this, money isn't everything, but being broke your whole life can be just as stressful as having a well paying job that you're not entirely happy with...........imagine telling your wife and kids you're going hunting for a week and at the same time can't afford to take them on a vacation.
  13. the bottom of the story posted on the link says "check out the July 2013 of North American Whitetail"...that leads me to believe it was killed last year.........For the exclusive, inside story on how Keller adjusted his strategy on the fly and brought down one of Wisconsin’s biggest whitetails ever, check out the July 2013 issue of North American Whitetail. 14. based on the no name magazine it's in I wouldn't be surprised.........or maybe it's a crossbow kill!
  15. no..in my opinion it sucks the life right out of hunting.
  16. tell you what, I'm from L.I. and I'd rather take a basket rack 8 upstate then a big L.I. buck.........tougher to accomplish and a better experience overall.....enjoy what you have.
  17. I was thinking this story was a little too new to be a 2013 kill.........usually these guys go into hiding until they find the person willing to pay the highest price for the story.
  18. I figured you've done it enough to know.........I haven't been duck hunting in years, do you need last year's stamp to hunt the early season? don't remember from what dates they're valid from.
  19. that's a great idea and good work by those who are setting it up, how's the participation looking so far?
  20. always good to hear about company's with good customer service, but of course now you're gonna have people telling you they warned you about buying a CVA.
  21. did you guys get your Duck Stamps and register with HIP?
