  1. The BLR is a beautiful gun, I was looking for the same for awhile, just never was able to find a .308.........the fact that they were tough to find should tell you something. My father just picked up a pre 64 model 88, nice gun and you could carry it all day, just not what I would consider a tack driver.

  2. That's really it in a nutshell... the "they'll never take my guns" people are non-existent before the laws are passed... failing to join the NRA or contact their legislator to voice their opinion... or even inform themselves on what's going on so that they know who has their best interest at hand when it comes to preserving our gun rights when it comes to casting a ballot on election day... apathy is our worst enemy in this fight. You can't wait for gun laws to be passed to decide its time to be pissed.

Anti gun legislation always came up for years before the Safe Act, it just never passed........the latest micro stamping of ammo idea was presented a few years ago and defeated, it resurfaced again and people act like it's something new.......why was it ok when they passed the last magazine capacity law?

  3. I thought we went over this. No bonus either sex tags will be issued this year.

who said anything about bonus either sex tags? he was asking when leftover dmp tags are available...........

  4. Discharge of Firearms and Bows

For information on where various legal implements may be used in the state, see Rifle, Shotgun, and Bow Areas.

It is illegal to discharge a firearm or bow:

    • so that the load or arrow passes over any part of a public highway,
    • within 500 feet of any school, playground, or an occupied factory or church,
    • within 500 feet of a dwelling, farm building or structure in occupation or use unless you own it, lease it, are an immediate member of the family, an employee, or have the owner's consent.
    • You may hunt waterfowl, over water, within 500 feet of a dwelling or public structure as long as neither are within 500 feet in the direction you are shooting.

For the purpose of these laws, definitions are as follows:

Dwelling houses -- a permanent place where people live and sleep. Excluded are temporary residential units including camping trailers, motor homes or other portable shelters. Also excluded are abandoned dwellings, detached garages, tree houses, "playscapes", decks, pool areas, storage sheds and out-buildings - even when/if they are temporarily occupied. A permanent camp or cabin may qualify as a "dwelling house".

Farm building, farm structure that is either occupied or used -- these structures are largely determined on a case-by-case basis. To qualify, the premises alleged to be a farm must be utilized principally for agricultural production for commercial purposes, including but not limited to crops, fruit, hay, livestock, production of dairy products, nurseries/greenhouses. There is no minimum number of acres that must be either owned or farmed to qualify. To receive protection the farm building or farm structure must be either occupied by people or livestock or used in some, even small, degree for storage of farm related tools, equipment or livestock. Excluded would be structures and out-buildings on acreage or lands that are not a "farm" even if they are temporarily occupied.

School building, school playground -- a school building is any building owned by a school district. A school playground is interpreted to mean any area that is maintained by the school including mowed lawns and fields, athletic fields, playgrounds, and/or other areas where students engage in school sponsored activities. Excluded are school parking lots. A maintenance building or bus garage owned by a school district is not a "school building" but would be a "factory" as discussed below.

Factory or church -- A factory is interpreted to mean any building or structure used for commercial purposes. The discharge of a firearm or longbow within 500 feet of a factory or church is prohibited only when such building is occupied at the time of discharge.

  5. No where in particular but was up there this weekend and liked the area... I know the hunting in Colombia has always been great since I've been hunting there and wanted to know how Delaware compared to it

Delaware County is a big area and I'm sure the hunting varies from area to area........mostly private land in Denver but DEP land close enough for travel to not be an issue....where about's did you visit?

  6. Additional Opportunities for Acquiring DMPs

    • Leftover DMPs

If there are permits remaining after the initial application period ends (October 1), an extended application period for leftover DMPs will begin on or around November 1 each year. Applications for leftover DMPs can only be made in person at license sales agents (most town clerk's offices, sporting good stores, or DEC offices).

    • Bonus DMPs in WMUs (1C, 3S, 4J and 8C)

Hunters who fill a DMP tag by harvesting an antlerless deer can apply for an additional (bonus) DMP to harvest another deer of either sex. Bonus DMPs that are used to take an antlerless deer may be replaced with another Bonus DMP.

  7. Fumbling around and having a good time.  The kid gets credit for making things happen with less than top shelf stuff.  He isn't afraid to do things himself, has great ideas and gets it done.

It doesn't sound like he is shooting too bad at this point.........

sounds to me like he's growing a little frustrated at this point, having fun and getting results that you're happy with are two different things........you don't need top shelf stuff to be effective........I would say if he is having problems at 15 yards, he should have someone help him out......obviously he realizes something is wrong and that's why he's asking for help...and that can't be given by someone who doesn't know what he's shooting and hasn't seen his form.

  8. it sounds like you've been fumbling around for awhile trying to get things right.........advice from people who don't know what or how you're shooting can only go so far, get yourself to a pro shop before the season opens.......you owe it to yourself and the deer to be the best you can.

  9. not to come off the wrong way, but at this point you should not be having problems unless you have major equipment or form problems.........any decent pro shop can set someone up and have them shooting good groups out to twenty yards in no time. Did you ever get matching arrows of the correct weight to practice with? and they should be the same arrows you intend to hunt with.

  10. A certain distance that you are less accurate at? im deadly from about 3 to 8 yrds (yes i practice at ALL ranges lol) but from about 8 to 12 i struggle a bit (like my group opens up to about a 8 inch circle I have to try really hard to keep it under about 5 inch) and then from 14 out to 20+ i have much better accuracy.... im kinda wondering why and am i unusual? :) one thing that my bowhunting buddy told me was that im jerking the trigger on the release to much, he showed me how to kinda use the release as a "back tension" release... that helped my accuracy a lot but once in a while i get a touch of target panic (a BAD habit im working on breaking before it starts!!!)

I can't think of a reason that you're having trouble at those distances and not the others.........if it was a form problem, your groups would get worse further out.....most guys start their sighting in and practice no closer than 10 yards, I don't see the benefit of shooting 3 yards.

  11. The Craft Beer industry is finally giving us a chance to taste what real beer should taste like........I was a Coor's light guy until I started trying all the different Craft Beer's, now it just taste's light crap.

  12. Yeah, Uncle(IRS) will always get his taxes, but these school (and property taxes) are local, not federal taxes.

We have school superintendents that make over $300,000 per year plus perks. When increases of school taxes fail to get approval, these administrators threaten with cutting sports, etc. and that sends parents into a panic. When the school loses they hold another vote(after the threats), then they almost always get approved on the second vote. So citizens approve these higher taxes (a sore spot for me). You can't win !! When they win, we can't appeal !

When my local taxes broke the 5 figure mark, I thought of leaving, but decided that I really like it on LI so I stayed. So I can't bitch too much. I did appeal my taxes and got them cut a bit.

I would like to know, why, on the Federal/State taxes, do more kids mean less taxes. They use more services, and pay less..I could never figure that one out. I know more kids cost parents more, but they don't have to have more kids, it's a choice.

that's what gets me, threatening to cut sports and other special programs to scare the people into voting the budget through.......last time I checked, not every kid gets to play a sport or some of the other extra curricular activities.........what is it it, about 20 kids make the football team and the rest who try out are sent home.......why then are we all paying for this?

  13. i agree with you in a sense but blowing the guys spot up is a bad approach. if the OP's following threads contain more WANTS then the MODS will handle it. We dont want to beat him over the head the second he steps foot in here. but i hear what you are saying

thank you for seeing my point and I apologize for the way I came off.....

  14. there are people giving away tags often. the OP is asking if anyone would happen to have one that they may not be going to use. i dont see where we are in the the TAG SWAP thread right now so i do not see a problem with asking. i think if you dont have much positive to chime in with just keep it to yourself...

no problem........I've seen much worse on this forum. To question the intentions of someone who's only posts are to ask for something seem pretty legitimate.

  15. he started a thread looking for land to hunt on today and then asked for someone to give him a dmp in another thread...there's a thread for dmp swaps where someone else was called out because they were looking for a dmp with  nothing to offer in exchange....a lot for someone to be asking the first day they enter a forum, sorry..............and actually it was a moderator who called the person out for asking for a dmp with nothing to offer in exchange.
