  1. like I said earlier, would you have liked it better if they offered clearance sales on guns and ammo? the title of this thread describes most of you in regards to this topic in light of what happened.
  2. I'm a pro gun guy and I thought to myself that something needs to be done, and I'm sure I'm not alone............this tragedy is going to impact gun laws like no other, I read where someone said this will devastate America worse than 9/11, and I have to agree..............never came close to tears watching 9/11 coverage, can't say the same about this.
  3. Pretty sad that the first thought that ran through many rabid gun owner's minds the second they heard of this tragedy was "oh no, this is gonna be bad for us".............how about letting these children be laid to rest before worrying about your guns?
  4. would you all feel better if they had a big sale on guns and ammo after what happened in Connecticut?
  5. I would like to see the number of convicted felons, people with orders of protections against them, and others who can't legally own firearms......who every year buy hunting licenses and ammo and then go to the shooting range all unchecked, something as simple as a driver's license check should prevent this. Should be no different than when you try to buy something with a maxed out credit card, "I'm sorry sir your purchase was declined."
  6. Never said nothing should be done, that's the farthest thing from my mind, I have no problem registering a gun, waiting to buy a gun, having them run a full background check, showing my ID to buy ammo, you name ..........just stating the fact of the staggering undertaking it's gonna be to control guns with the amount out there. I just didn't want to share my opinion that I have no use for anything other than guns for hunting and if the other type guns weren't available to the general public I could care less.
  7. I think if you take a look at these mass shootings, the majority, if not all the guns and ammo were legally obtained.........even if you took the magazine and reduced it to 5 instead of 10 shot's, anyone with a little experience could reload at a very rapid rate.............and how can you even begin to enact an effective gun control system when the country is filled with thousands of undocumented guns that can't be traced?
  8. the wording in the bill made it so no guns or crossbows would be allowed during the archery season, that would have blocked any youth gun hunt during the archery season......I think the safety issue was one of the loudest arguments against the youth hunt, and it turned out that it was a non-issue.
  9. I agree, I would have supported the bill if it would not have also eliminated the youth hunt, instead I wrote the Governor asking him to veto it. I also cancelled my membership to NY Bowhunter's for the very same reason......I'm a very strong supporter of any youth hunts.
  10. ok, thanks....doubt my #520 will get me the 1st week.
  11. God is turning against us and Satan is using the government leaders as puppets?.........yikes, now I am scared.........my fear of clowns seems silly compared to that.
  12. and the whole yelling at him to get another shot into the deer still has me baffled, I would love to hear the neighbor's version of this incident.
  13. The law was pretty much written to protect hunter's from anti-hunter's who disrupt hunts, I think we all have heard of how they have organized to disrupt hunts at areas that are being opened for first time hunts or when they encounter hunters on public land.........unfortunately it isn't a crime to be a bad neighbor.
  14. charged with criminal negligent what?.criminal negligence itself is not something you can be charged with...........
  15. it's just like anything else, some people shouldn't drink, watch porn, own guns, watch violent movies or play violent video games..........it set's something off in them that is potentially dangerous..........then there's million's who can do all the above with no problem's.
  16. gotta love how most of these threads veer off course and just become 2 or 3 people attacking each other and arguing back and forth.
  17. just heard something that made alot of sense to me........"we glamorize, promote and openly sell movies and video games that openly promote death, violence and gore.....this stuff should be kept out of the mainstream and the people who promote them should be treated like pornographer's".......something to think about.
  18. there's no way to keep illegal handguns off the streets and out of the hands of criminals.........just saw a story on abc news stating there are roughly over 200 million guns circulating throughout the country already (and I would think this is fairly accurate).....it's pretty much past the point of no return.
  19. It will be near impossible to account for all the guns and who has possession of them, the gun laws are so varied from state to state there's no way to keep things in check.........in NYS it's illegal for a convicted felon to possess a firearm, yet how many purchase ammo and a hunting license every year? when they go in to purchase a hunting license or ammo a red flag should pop up and the authorities should be alerted.
  20. you would have to show that the guy does it on a regular basis and is going out of his way to locate you and cause the disturbance, a one time or first time incident of someone cutting wood or doing any loud type of work on his own property usually won't fly...........that is "usually", if the guy set's up shop 20 yards from you and says something like "hey a**hole, enjoy your hunt", probably gonna be a different story.
  21. "She got up a several times, went a few steps and crashed. She was heading toward the property line and my neighbor also hunts. I called out for him several times in the hopes he could put a final shot in her to end her suffering but there was no answer so I took the final shot myself from my stand."............I was just rereading this portion of the original post and it kinda jumped out at me, seems the original poster may have taken the finishing shot when the deer was on the neighbor's property, and how closed was the other guy if he called out to have the neighbor finish her off? maybe the neighbor has a very good reason to be angry.
  22. nmental Conservation - Title 1 - § 11-0110 § 11-0110. Interference with lawful taking of wildlife prohibited. 1. As used in this section “wildlife” means wild game and all other animal life existing in a wild state, including fish, shellfish and crustacea, and “process of taking”, in addition to any act described in subdivision thirteen of section 11-0103 of this article, includes travel, camping, and other acts preparatory to taking, which occur on lands or waters upon which the affected person has the right or privilege to take such wildlife. 2. A person is guilty of interfering with the lawful taking of wildlife when, with intent to prevent the taking of wildlife, in season, in a place where hunting, fishing or trapping is lawful, and by a person properly licensed to take such wildlife, he: (a) strikes, shoves, kicks or otherwise subjects the licensed person to physical contact, or attempts or threatens to do the same; or follows the licensed person in or about such place and engages in a course of conduct or repeatedly commits acts which alarm or seriously annoy such licensed person and which serve no legitimate purpose. Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, no one shall be arrested for violation of this section by other than a duly designated peace officer acting pursuant to his special duties, or a police officer.
