  1. Don't think that would quite cut it, probably no different than a dealer not selling an assembled gun, but trying to get around it by selling all the parts to build one.....if you already have one, why not just register it instead of making it into a box of parts?
  2. But yet they didn't attempt to ban readily available replica "toy" guns, which I guarantee are responsible for just as many if not more gun related crimes than real guns........obviously not killings, but gun related crimes none the less.........those orange tips are pretty easily scraped off and when pointed in someone's face get the same result.
  3. the fact that they forgot to write in the exemption for law enforcement show's you how hastily this was thrown together.
  4. The way I see it, the "Assault Weapon" one is pretty much unenforceable until the one year deadline for pre-ban owner's to register theirs is here. How else can it be determined if you're a pre-ban owner who has yet to register your gun or a guy who has an illegally purchased and possessed one? or is the presumption going to be that if the gun is unregistered it's illegal and it's up to you to prove otherwise afterwards?
  5. should what not be legal, the taking of BB's? I for one would have no problem having to use my buck tag on a BB if I happen to take one accidentally or intentionally, my tag allows me a buck and if that's how the chip's fall, I'll put my buck tag on it. As far as whether statewide AR's would help or hurt deer hunting, I don't think it makes much of an impact either way.......although if I really had to give an opinion on it, I'd go with hurt it to a minimal degree. I can't see someone giving up because they can shoot what they choose, but can maybe see a few throwing in the towel if the AR's prevent them from getting a deer for a few years. I assumed when you asked if AR's would hurt or help deer hunting you were referring to hunter participation / satisfaction.
  6. killing someone with a gun gives the killer distance from the victim, and makes the killing somewhat less personal..........the person who can shoot someone from a distance may not have what it takes to slit someone's throat with a knife or bash their skull in with a hammer.
  7. thanks for seeing it that way.......I should never have thrown that rhetorical question into my earlier post because now I'm being asked to break down my hunting season into hours hunted, deer sightings, etc., so they can analyze it and answer my question...LOL.
  8. nobody ever walked into an elementary school and killed 20 children with a carton of cigarettes, can't remember anyone taking an automobile into a school and chasing little kids around as they ran for their lives and ran them over and killed them..............get real with the comparison's.
  9. first off, let me say I know I wasn't wrong making the choice I made....gave my doe tag to a nephew who didn't get one and probably spent a 60 hours hunting between bow, rifle and muzzleloader.......the time spent hunting in no way played a part in my decision, I am 100% anti antler restriction and would have filled my tag with the same deer the first day if the desire struck me.
  10. what I'm saying is, there is no law in NYS making it a crime for a convicted felon to possess or purchase ammo, the law is against possessing and purchasing firearms......I did not see were they amended the law to include ammo possession.
  11. what would prevent them from selling to anyone? there is no law against ammo possession or purchasing.......what happen's if a convicted felon, who can't own a firearm, attempts to buy ammo?
  12. when you join or rejoin the NRA, tell them to keep the cheap crap gift's they send out......I can only imagine the amount of money wasted on that garbage....and the constant bombardment of junk mail has got to cost them as well, can't see how that is needed.,
  13. These new laws were thrown together and signed off on so hastily it made everyone's head spin, I have no idea how law's are passed, but it seem's like alot of the process was bypassed. I would hope that with the NRA's power and amount of due's money they collect every year, that they have lawyer's in Albany right now fighting this thing.
  14. evolution or downfall? that's my question........my season consisted of me being forced to pass on three separate buck's that either didn't meet the criteria or that I couldn't be sure if they did or didn't, all were at least 4pts and I would have been happy taking any of them. The last week of late muzzleloader I shot a button buck, so luckily I was able to find a way around the AR's and put some venison in the freezer.........was I wrong for doing so? either way a buck was taken from the herd, does it really matter if it was one of the larger bucks or that button?
  15. yup, saw an article that estimated the amount of legally owned guns in this country that can never be traced back to the current owner due to being sold privately after the original purchase, sometimes several times over....
  16. what about a convicted felon who attempts to buy ammunition?, they're not allowed to own firearms, but the law says nothing about ammo...will they be denied the sale or will the dealer just alert law enforcement or will both happen? This law has to be the most hastily thrown together, poorly thought out piece of junk in NYS history.
  17. I'b be real careful with that one, I would think you need to show proof of ownership prior to the new law.
  18. I've used travelocity quite a few times, never had a problem.
  19. The deer herd's in some areas need to be rebuilt before they even consider antler restriction's, unfortunately these are also some of the areas that already have them. The guy who hunt's an area where he's lucky to have 3 or 4 opportunities at any deer is now being told which buck he can shoot, tough pill to swallow..............for a guy in 8H to argue AR's with a guy in 4W is kind of a lopsided discussion, they probably have a deer sighting difference of 20-30 deer a season.
  20. why does my license in an AR zone cost the same as someone who hunt's in a non AR zone? I should get a discount because I'm limited to what my license allows me to take.....if I pay the same, I want the same benefit.
  21. I'm totally against government imposed antler restriction's, Delaware County WMU's 4W &4R...........does my opinion count or is this poll only for the one's who want them?
  22. That's my question as well, do people think that simply putting a stand on public land think that entitles them to sole use of that area? I would never use another's stand, but wouldn't think twice about setting up in the same area just because someone puts a stand there.
  23. Although at this time, it may seem like a loss to the crossbow advocates, it really is a victory. Had this bill been signed into law, it would have squashed the youth hunt and kept the crossbow's only to be allowed during other seasons. NY Bowhunter's shot themselves in the foot with the crossbow extension bill and the wording in it........NY Bowhunter's, the best membership I ever cancelled.
  24. I'll step up and say I'm glad you got some satisfaction, but for as much as a victory it was, what you lost can't be replaced without more time and money in legal battles
  25. Thankfully the Governor, or whoever whispered in his ear, was able to see through what NY Bowhunter's was trying to backdoor with the crossbow extension bill.......I have mixed feeling's about whether or not crossbow's should be used during regular archery season for able bodied hunter's, but think they should be legal implements for elderly or those who can't use conventional archery tackle .NY Bowhunter's, the best membership I ever cancelled.
