and I know plenty of cops who give people legit tickets that they know the person can beat with little effort and let them slide on the tickets that will really cause the person problems. -

and some people think because of their situation, not being able to afford insurance, register their cars or bend the hunting rules because they need food to live, expect the Officer's to give them a break......too bad, the amount of people who are on the level far outway them and it wouldn't be fair to those who do make sure they are legit.....so boo hoo. -

Like I said earlier, I'd love to see what all the complainer's tell us what they do for a living and see the stuff they get away with on a daily basis, but they're not in the public eye and we'll never know. -

and I think someone posted earlier that they figured that 3% of the tickets were bogus....that means 97% were legit...............that's a pretty staggering number of people who were able to be proven wrong. -

it's all they got, most likely the same people who were bullies in school and were involved in shady activity their entire lives.....makes them feel good about themselves. -
must have been a job getting that thing out of the woods, how'd you do it?
-
I'm pretty sure it's not the livestock that make it occupied, I'm looking at the ECL right now and it makes no reference to livestock ..........what it does say is "farm building actually occupied or used", so if it's any farm building that is used in anyway, you can't discharge a weapon within 500' feet.............so a shed is not automatically safe to shoot near, if the farmer goes into his shed once or twice a day, it's considered used/occupied.
-
make sure you tell them your thoughts when you go apply...they'll probably move you right to the top of the list.
-
Does your friend have a good relationship with the neighbor's? if so, maybe he can talk to them 1st and introduce you to them...........they may very well have the same deer problem's that he has.

I'm sure we could have a field day if we got a glimpse into some of the job's other people have and how petty most of their task's are.......unfortunately most Law Enforcement Officer's are out there for the public to see and complain about, although it's mostly the violator's who seem to complain the most......not everyone get's to go to work and hide in a cubicle or behind the glass at McDonald's drive through. -

they're not really "wrongful tickets", maybe "Bs tickets", but not wrongful......here's a good example, if you're hunting in an area that require's you to wear a backtag, and you're not, the presumption is that you're hunting without a license.........you may get stopped and say "I forgot to put it on, here it is in my pocket"..........the Officer is well within the law to ticket you, wrongful? no...B.S.? pretty much. -

Did they also have a saying for bending the law as long as the people in charge of enforcing it let some violation's slide? -

the cop's don't get the surcharges it go's to the same place the ticket money does...........how many of you can show up for work and do nothing and not do what your job entails? you think an Officer's employer expects any less? -

shouldn't you know when the trail's are closed? no different than them handing out speeding tickets in an area where the speed limit drops to a lower speed and the people don't comply......not sure, but I think that's part of their job. -
just read the part where you said they're unknown tenants.......guess you haven't spoken to them.
-
Did you talk to them? my guess is that's not all they're doing on your property.
-
seems to me, that if you violate a law and get a break you're lucky...if you get the ticket, you're getting what you have coming to you.....can you really fault an Officer if he chooses to ticket you?
-
Just reread the regulation and it only addresses the 500' distance for discharging a weapon.
-
does the 500' rule apply to hunting or just to weapon discharge? I'm asking because want to know if someone can drive deer, which I believe is considered hunting, closer than 500' from a dwelling / building as long as the shooter is 500' away?
-
yes, that's what it's all about, but when we go, it's about him learning and hunting, not me..........I'm only concerned with him enjoying himself and hopefully being successful, my hunting becomes secondary.
-
probably more of a case of the adult not wanting to give up his hunting time to stay with the kid's............you can go hunting or you can take a kid hunting, but you can't do both.
-
But, unfortunately it's the law, and if you're gonna take the responsibility of taking kid's out and teaching them properly, you should get into the habit of following it....................simple enough isn't it?
-
Why? people were up in arms about kid's being allowed to hunt during the youth season accompanied by adults, saying it was dangerous..........why would it be ok to allow 2 kids hunt alone during the regular season?
-
How about the guy who's walking through the woods with a loaded rifle, in the dark, lighting the way with his flashlight? bet I can find the law forbidding that.....
-
Tell ya what, us City folk will stop that, if you "Upstater's" agree to stop poaching all the deer outside of the regular season's.
