  1. One thing I really like, is when folks hop on to condemn me for giving my savior Jesus Christ most, or all of the credit for deer that I kill.   That helps put the focus where it should be and not on my own personal hunting skills.  Sure I practice a bit and put in some time, but it is The man upstairs who has the final say where ALL deer end up.  If He chooses to put them in my freezer why shouldn't I give Him the credit?  It is no coincidence that the Cross-bow is my favorite deer weapon.

you really should give yourself more credit as a hunter if you're that successful....and you never got back to me on whether or not he puts deer in the roadways to get killed or even worse kill or seriously injure innocent people, after all HE does have the final say.

  2. I will say, that I have tried a variety of calls on deer that were in sight.....never had one spook because of it, more so that they just didn't respond at all.

  3. You can use the crossbow heads with your regular bow.

I'm set with Slick Tricks for that...have no intention of changing. The move to mechanical broadheads poses the dilemma. The crossbow will come out the two days before regular season if I don't tag one with my compound...so don't want to break the bank dicking around with different heads.

  4. when I was with Deer Search and had my tracking dogs, I once tracked a hunters deer right to the other guy who was dragging it out......he apparently watched the deer die in front of him in the morning and at the end of the day climbed down from his stand and tagged it. He gladly turned it over to the guy who shot it.....I don't think there were any ill intentions on his part other than not wanting to see it go to waste.

  5. I have yet to come across a fresh deer that died of "natural causes" in the woods.

I've found deer that were killed by hunters and were still there the next day and eventually wound up as predator food....stuff happens. But by the time you find out that no one is coming for them it's too late to salvage.

  6. I found it hard to believe the DEC is going to respond by email and tell you it's legal to tag a deer you didn't shoot.

What happens when you report the Deer kill? Wouldn't you be lying ?

I don't think the DEC cares if you tag a deer you didn't shoot, and I think it happens plenty of times. But that doesn't make it legal.

    Just my opinion

I don't think you would be lying, the tag doesn't ask how YOU killed it, does it?  just when it was taken......

  7. Huh? You mean state land that doesn't allow hunting right?

well, I would guess that if you stumble upon a dead deer and feel like sticking your tag on it you can? not sure why you would but to some the meat is more important then the kill....

  8.  Well know I'm upset...I thought I was the only one that does that... :cheese:

Now on a serious note ;)  Why none of you mentioned it I do not know...

You have a deer...even with a blood trail....and two guys not giving in...you then add an officer to which they (DEC have limited #'s ) being called in on this during....wait for it..... Their busiest time of year...... it's a no brainer...they simply do not have the time nor the man power to go running around to each,,,,,,,, he tagged my deer situation... Having to back track trails and check for how many shots  yadda yadda yadda...Thus the officers maintaining their "field discretion"( which they are give a big leeway) on in letting the general word get out and policy be known..... Bubba, please note that word as opposed to law. The deer has a legal tag on it...it's the persons that tagged it...They don't want to deal with the BS period...

I agree 100%, the last thing they want to do is babysit a bunch of grownups.........like I mentioned about the 2 roadkills I picked up, I called the HQ and they said just take it and someone will stop by when they get a chance, took my name and gave me theirs and I went on my way.....it's pretty much the hunters who get boners (sorry) over finding dead deer on the side of the road or in the woods, that enthusiasm isn't usually shared by the ECO....got a crime to report? sure call them and they'll get there...eventually.

  9. It happens every year on LI.  This picture was sent to me a day before buck season opened.  It was stated the deer was hit on N. State pkwy by a car.  I said is that why it is caped already?  LMAO

I told him someone was pulling his leg!  He never replied back, lol.

saw that one on another hunting site.......that one claimed it to be a roadkill from out of state.

  10. I never smile in pictures from hunting and fishing ,I guess it started way back when I first started hunting ,my dad told us not to smile in pictures with fish or game you just got.

I'm not big on smiling for photos of any sort.......it never looks natural when I try to smile on command, sorry if that offends some.

  11. OK so..... I Will  Not tell you what one friends wife use to do...but I've seen some of your imaginations on here...sure you can figure it out...lol

Thats way too gross for me to want a deer that bad...but..it apparently worked for her... That said It gave me an idea, what doesn't, and being "sanitary" and scent free in the wrapper, and absorbant. I thought what a great long lasting scent wick...so out came the tinks 69 and paper clips to hang....Until one morning I saw a young 6pt walk by me....with one of them dangling from his G2...LOL...Went out and bought some wildlife research wicks... ;)

thanks, now I need to go take a shower.............but not the first time I heard of that.

  12. No one is responsible for my professional success or failure but myself. If I am not making what I think I should for the job I do. Then I need to look elsewhere. Same with hunting. If I am not happy with the deer numbers or quality where I am hunting, then I need to look elsewhere. No one should have to hold my hand, pat my head and say "it's OK, we will drop more deer in the area for you"! If you are not killing or seeing enough deer, become a better hunter or find greener pastures! Quit complaining and just hunt!

some people depend on the government for everything......

  13. Its Not The Farmer Fault Its The Local Famers And Fellow hunters that are planting and Growing Food and Habitat. By spending Millions on Seed and Planting land that other wise would not hold Deer. Its the States FAULT they do Very little to improve Habitat for small & big game In NY
