  1. Yeah, without turning this post the wrong direction, there isPLENTY of chatter going around about this.  I know a lot of people who are reporting doe harvest even though they are not actually shooting one just to appease this ridiculous DEC reg.  There are people who will shoot a buck and just mark a differnt "legal" zone on it.  There are people who will shoot it early and mark it 10/15.   Watch in amazement as 10/15 is an all-time record buck harvest!  That is because a shit ton of deer will be shot before then and just called in on 10/15.  Nobody in my inner circle because I wouldn't tolerate any illegal activity, but plenty of chatter around town of it going on.  Goes to show how incompetitent our DEC truly is.

and all the frozen heads that are brought to the Taxidermist after the 15th......

  2. yeah, it's not easy doing what you're doing, I did it for a few years and to be quite honest I got burned out....my biggest problem was not saying no. I'm not sure how it is by you, but L.I. was non stop.

  3. Like most I have hunted with both for forty years  but mostly scoped .Recently I bought a winchester mod 94 30-30  with a octagon barrel that was mfgd in 1901 open sights, 114 yrs old , I LOVE THIS GUN!! so I intended to hunt with this exclusively for the rest of my life  until I read elmo's post he is 100% right I do owe these beautiful animals my best shot I realized I would be beyond sick if I hurt one instead of making a clean kill  so thanks elmo looks like Im gonna stick to scoped  or maybe bring both rifles  in with me   only kidding

pick your shots and you'll be fine..but it depends on your priorities....I've killed deer that were far from impressive to everyone but me, the fact that I killed them with guns that meant something to me made them special.

  4. never shipped anything till i've been paid first. as far as ebay goes. not a fan of the huge cuts they take.

had nothing to do with making money on the bow, like I said previously if the guy had only been able to afford the shipping and made good on it, I would have been happy.....I certainly don't need the $ he said he would send me for the bow and my trouble....I'll probably do the same thing in the future, just be more careful that the recipient isn't a random visitor.

  5. Ok so the harness attaches to a strap around tree that's it

pretty much that's all there is to it........I honestly can't let go of the tree until I'm strapped in these days, a couple unplanned trips down the tree put a little fear of heights into me. Back in the day, I hunted out of stands that would make me shake my head out now.

  6. I would seriously look at the Muddy ones. I just got a new one for sale of Bass online for $39 from $49. It is a very comfortable, well made and you can not beat the price. Also a well known company. For children I don't think I have seen many except maybe the HSS which are popular too.

Good luck and be smart and get one. I was indestructible once too!! Now we have others that count on us.

they look pretty good..........and I don't know how much cheaper you can get.

  7. skip the harness IMO. Houdini would have troubles getting into one in the dark. I bought myself a Life Support (or something like that ) climbing vest. It has seat belt like buckles that clip around each thigh and three quick buckles on chest .

    exactly what I was saying....

  8. most treestands come with a harness these days.....when I climb I just put the tree strap around the tree, clip the harness on and just keep moving it up until I reach the desired height, only takes a few seconds to move it each time. I wouldn't get a cheap harness for myself or my kids....main reason being they are a pain in the ass as opposed to some of the vest style ones with the seatbelt type buckles......the way I see it with some of the cheap ones, is although they may save you from hitting the ground, they might kill you by strangling you to death, they would be impossible to get out of while hanging there if needed.

  9. attachicon.gifDeer A..png

Where do you think you hit it?

not to derail, but that's a good picture to show how far forward you can actually aim....I think most aim too far back, as I used to do prior to getting a better understanding of the anatomy....probably worth starting a new thread with that pic.
