I can haha... will be my first season up here, can't wait, got some good bucks to chase this year, usually I'm already in the stand come August 5th down in Florida, so i've had a bit more of an extended off season than I am use to...

DEC website has an interactive map to show you state lands and where they are... they also have a google earth with the state lands overlayed..

i personally would site the 1st pin at 10, and the others should still adjust accordingly from 20 on... I feel completely confident at 40 and no further... not to say im a bad shot at 50 either, but unless I have the best possible shot with plenty of time to get the shot off on a relaxed stationary deer or its the biggest buck i've ever seen, im not takin a 50 yd'er every day...
-
well as far as the trajectories go, its all and extrapolation off that 2nd 30 yd pin... the 1st 20yd pin stays fixed because besides your 10 yard shot its your flattest trajectory with the least arc ... which 10 and 20 can almost be shot with the same pin they are so close if you have one of the faster bows, there is a bigger difference in arc from 20 to 30 than you would think and so on...... so 30,40, 50 , and 60 pins will move a greater distance apart the more arc you have in your arrow... and the less arc you have the less they will move apart according to the physics of the arrow in flight... as far as different draw weights which will result in speed differences as well as arc of flight, arrow weight, stiffness, and broadhead or field tip weight are all constants to your set up which will never change from one arrow to the next given the arrows and heads from one to the next are the same per say's the manufacturer. think of it as the same equation with different values will get you different solutions... and the pins adjust accordingly in a ratio between the speed of arrow, and the given yardage from target will give you arc which is essentially how much the arrow drops in flight... its actually pretty sweet and im surprised it took so long for something like this to come out given the technological society we live in these days... and the physic of an arrow in flight have been around for ever, all the manufacturers of arrows study these factors when they test there arrows before production.... simple physics.. lol

Haha, u hunt outa that patio chair in the background?

a go-pro... the camera that everyone uses from skydiving, surfing, hunting , to riding a bike... water proof case, HD capable , and comes with various mounting attachments.. the kodak is alright, tried that first on the bow, but the shock from the string would freeze it up and i'd have to reset it to get it to work... it has zoom on it so i use it for a trail cam card viewer, and mount it on a camera arm for self filming .... go-pro has no zoom and a fish-eye or wide angle lense, captures a good amount of area so no need to be exactly pointed at the deer....

man I feel sorry for my kids and there kids if I end up having them... the government is so screwed up and down the toilet already, imagine even 4 or 5 presidents from now... it almost feels like the greatest country in the world is self destructing itself, and turning its back on the very principles that have made us the greatest country in the world... trending more more towards a socialistic society ... scary... and I'LL DIE BEFORE I GIVE UP MY GUNS AND THE RIGHT TO DEFEND MYSELF!!!!! guns don't kill people, its the mentally unstable wack jobs... go ahead n ban guns, the one's who aren't supposed to have them now WILL get them somehow regardless... why can't they see that... idiots... an so ends my politically charged rant for this evening ..
-
insane archery makes a great schock proof mount as stabilizer, pretty much any hand held camera small enough with the screw mount hole on the bottom will do... I have a go pro for the bow, and the kodak playsport for the camera arm... very light weight to pack in n out...

the main problem with that is funding... the education system is also in shambles letting many teachers go and are already understaffed as it is... unless it was on a volunteer basis to teach it , it would never happen... good idea though!

i've got the summit open shot, only weighs 15 pounds and great for bow hunting as is resembles a lock on set up when up in the tree... thick 3 inch padded seat is great... not worried about that, its one particular small swamp with bedding in it that i don't want to make a bunch a raquet setting up a climber, rather just set a ladder and be done with it, slip up the ladder ever so quietly ...

why unsettling? -
I shoot instinctively which I think is the best way to practice for a hunting situation .... I here most guys float the pin and squeeze until the trigger releases, but for some reason I end up torking the bow. I draw back, find my anchor before even looking at my sight picture, then with two eyes open rise up on the target just below, then squint one eye(not close) and inch up, as the pin hit the target I release(not punching trigger)... you figure in a hunting situation, more often than not a deer is not gonna pose all day for you to find your target, breath out, and slowly squeeze, that is if you can keep your composure lol... for me it works well to draw, get the pin on the heart and inch up just a tad n release.... because your not floating the pin you have less chance of getting trigger panic... still a surprise release to me cause im concentrating on rising the pin up ever so slightly and something clicks in my head to release where it needs to be...
-
not always haha... nothing past a basic unit will range out to 50 any better than the other... of course there is the angle compensators.. but for stand hunting it doesn't matter any who... simmons has a good line of products, scopes are pretty decent as well...
-
do you primarily bow hunt or gun? im guessing gun if you want the mag...

I also was not born into hunting... No one in my family hunted until my sister married my now brother-in-law who took me duck hunting for the first time when I was 15... a great way to introduce someone to hunting, high action, good success rate most of the time, more social in the blind than other forms of hunting, and interactive with the calls and spotting ducks... I grew up a true fisherman in South Florida with my dad and at the time that's all I ever did... Used to watch any and every fishing show and when the hunting one's came on I would switch to something else... at the time I used to say well you can't catch a deer or turkey etc, and then release it like you can fishing... My brother in law has a camp in the everglades only accessible by airboat and we used to go all the time.... loved it out there, and as soon as I killed my first duck I was insatiably addicted to all aspects of the outdoors and hunting... hunted duck for about 6 or 7 years, and then tried turkey, killed two osceola's my first year and I was hooked, then came deer the next year... killed my first deer which happened to be a nice buck for florida with my bow and I was HOOKED... without that introduction to hunting from my brother in law I would never have gotten into a passion that seems to more or less consume me every single day.. everyday I either read or watch video, look at topo maps, scout, look up hunting gear, shoot bow or gun, practice calling, look over my gear, or even dream about the next hunt and that turkey or buck comin in on a rope... in some aspect I think about it everyday... I am forever greatful for that, as it is a lifelong passion for me now... some pics of my first deer and turkey, and some ducks... get the youngen's out early and get them hooked!! they will thank you later!

Those beans are high as hell compared to the fields by me!!! -
those do look pretty sweet, especially the set screw feature... same overall design except rear deployment, but I do like that both superior and inferior edges are sharp... might be somthin to look into once I have exhausted the 5 shwackers I have left...
