  1. just wondering if what i heard was true....
  2. Gonna get out this weekend with the kiddo! Maybe he's the lucky charm I'm missing lol
  3. yeah think im gonna go with some secret spot. found a good area to till up an throw it out. even found a good tree for either a hang on or climber. ive heard a rake and some sweat and you can get yourself a decent lil plot. this isnt gonna be a huge plot, i dont even think itll make 1/4 acre but we shall see! thanks for all the help!
  4. quiet here in wayne county...never been like this in years. ive hunted from sunrise to noon, on many days since the opener. havent seen a live male turkey since before the season opened. havent heard a gobble since 2nd day of the season. not sure whats going on but as others have stated, they could be thicker than thieves tomorow! just gotta keep after them. it does kinda put a damper on things when they arent vocal but they are still being turkeys doing what turkeys do. keep at them!!
  5. Yeah I checked wegmans for sign too...no go.
  6. Could you tell me where they are hiding? Sat til 8 this morning. Then did some run/gun til 1030 or so...never heard a peep.
  7. ok not really a secret spot, but more or less my "honey hole". cant get any sort of vehicle back there to till or plow or anything. ive seen some throw and grow, secret spot, etc marketed for this type of area. but im trying to get the food plot gurus in on this one. id like to plant here soon after turkey season as ill also be putting up a new stand in the area. so if i can get in there, plant something and put a stand and camera in all at the same time it would be great. any thoughts? thanks for the help!
  8. Oh yeah! Lots of hard days...countless hours scouting and run/gun...hens hens and more hens. From the local talk it seems the toms are finally out searching...fingers crossed
  9. just wishing yall who are headed out in the morning good luck! im gonna try an get out, although i couldnt get out to roost one tonite. im hoping my secret spot finally pays off if i get a chance to get in there! best of luck to yall!
  10. shot one last year at 1156....cuttin it close lol. it was about 1140 and i started to get my stuff packed up. let the air outta my decoys...sound of that mustve made him think there was a gobbler near because he cut loose at about 40 yards away. scared the poop outta me! i crawled back to my spot i was sitting about 15 yards away and lightly purred. he kept gobbling and gobbling but i couldnt see him. so i hit the mouth call real hard and he cut loose again. finally came into view at about 28 yards full strut. i tried everything to get him to come outta strut with no luck. finally tilted my hand to check my watch...1156. it was now or never but im sure he saw me move and came outta strut. BOOM. best turkey hunt since i shot my first one! sometimes it pays to hunt til noon!
  11. hows the action where you are? hoping 8f is good tomorow!
  12. yeah im starting to think its more of a setup deal most of the time. hoping tomorow morning i can get the right setup!
  13. Yeah I've been doing the sparingly deal. Had a hen walk up 3 ft from me the other day. Never heard or saw her until she broke a branch behind me. Wish she was draggin a tom with her...or a jake for that matter.
  14. I'm looking at one and thinking I may buy it. Anyone have one or used one before? Pros and cons? Looks like a decent short axle to axle bow with decent speed. I'm not really a speed demon as I shoot xx75 aluminums. I've yet to shoot it...but won't be able to until I buy it...that's the downside. Any help would be great! Oh an is it hard to get modules to adjust drawlength? The owner isn't sure if its 28 or 29 because the sticker isn't readable go figure. Thanks!
  15. Guess I should say my setup. I'm hunting a powerline cut between two sets of woods with the canal winding around it.
  16. Yeah I'm torn right now. Can't decide if I put the hen out or not. Guess it'll be a morning decision.
  17. I've killed more turkeys without decoys than with them. But on the other hand my biggest tom I shot with decoys out. With the recent lull or lack of activity I figured id give anything a try. Maybe in the morning ill go without a decoy an see what happens.
  18. Hens hens and more hens! Was hoping one would drag at least a jake in but no go. Oh well try again in the morning!
  19. For those that have filled tags or at least had birds come in, what's your strategy for decoys? I had a jake and feeding hen out this morning and I'm not sure but I had a hen come in close then change her mind and scoot around the decoys and me in the blind. Wondering if it was the decoys or the blind. She didn't spook just chose to half circle around me an the decoys. Was thinking maybe just go with the lone feeding hen in the morning. Any tips? All I saw this weekend were hens. And with the lack of vocals I'm willing to try anything!
  20. Apparently they must have huge turkeys that also walk upside down...ill never understand some peoples mentality.
  21. Yeah me an the kiddo are headed out in the morning. Didn't get a chance to try an roost one tonite. So fingers are crossed for the morning. Hunted this spot today and bumped a hen unfortunately. She came out of some thick stuff 15 yards in front of me. But she did lead me to some good sign of turkeys so that's a little uplifting. Good luck!
