  1. Yeah ive heard they like minimal choked guns. Some of the reviews i read that were bad were hunters using really tight chokes. Guess thats the benefit of the flite control wad.
  2. Meetng up with cabin fever soon!
  3. I found some of those duplex loads online. That was also something that may fit the bill.
  4. Gotta agree with ya. When gun season comes around i sometimes say..."put down the twang and give me the bang"! Step out at 40+ yards now hehe
  5. Thanks ill look into those as well. I found some 6's in a box of hunting gear and ill probably test them as well. Think they are old rems or winchesters. Not sure it just says 6 on the shell and all the other writing isnt readable.
  6. Oops i typed it wrong. I meant it like bigger teams instead of pairs! Oh well either way it was run good and i hope it happens again!
  7. Well for me i find barrels no cheaper than 125 bucks. For that i might as well buy a new gun. Funds just arent that plentiful for that unfortunately.
  8. Just winchester super x #4. Its an ok pattern but i may grab some #6 to see if the pattern gets better. Basically im at buying 2 boxes of shells and hoping for the best. Sucks but gotta go with the curves that life throws ya.
  9. Its ok. I think the prairie storm might be the way to go. Ive seen a few videos of guys using a 870 with cylinder choke out to 30 yards with a great pattern. Guess i may pick some up an test it out. Apparently the regular flite control i cant seem to find anywhere.
  10. I do bowhunt but im working with the shotgun right now. I dont think hevi shot comes in 2 3/4.....maybe im wrong ill have to look into it.
  11. As opposed to last year ive been reduced to an 870 smoothbore shotgun. It will not accept chokes and the gun shop here says he cant thread it for chokes. Its got the short barrel like 18 inches. Now i patterened it last year just in case i may need it and number 4 winchesters give out an "ok" pattern at 20 yards. 95% of my turkeys have come within 25 yards. So im looking at a new shell that will help with it. Ive narrowed it down to federal high velocity number 6 with flitecontrol wads. And federal prairie storm number 6. Both utilize the flitecontrol wad which has been proven and tested to work good in minimaly choked guns. So my dilemma is which one! Hoping that maybe before the season i get called back to work...but im not banking on it. Anyone got a spare barrel laying around! Haha! Any thoughts or help would he greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  12. It was teams of two. I finished second with my partner in last years. Had to have a score card for entries. I actually became a fill in for someone who had issues. All in all it was fun. If you check you can see the rules an regs for last season. Only thing i would do different is maybe make it a team. Then again it all depends in how many entries are recieved. I hope it happens again this season!
  13. I take my son out with me every season. Unfortunately at 9 hes still too young to hunt in the states eyes. I remember my first turkey hunt and he remembers his first time out with me. I cannot wait until the day he can pull the trigger on a gobbler! I hope someone on here can help you out!
  14. Id have to say bow. But in all honesty it comes down to what puts meat on the table. Id prefer a bow but if the shotgun or muzzleloader does the trick then so be it.
  15. This is the time of year i transition from ice fishing to turkeys....got all my calls an decoys out and had to mess with them. Neighbors are gonna love me haha!
  16. Fiance told me today that my turkey hot spot is also probably a good morel spot lol guess scouting and hunting now means morels too!
  17. What are your thoughts on the flitecontrol wads? Im thinking of picking some up. Iv read that these shells work good in minimally choked guns. Which is great since i have a minimally choked gun and no funds to buy new guns or barrels. Just looking to see who uses them and what your thoughts are. Thanks!
  18. Mouth calls....but im quickly starting to like tube calls. Seems as though the tube call is something most turkeys around here dont hear that often.
  19. Saw a couple of gobblers coming back from the store yesterday. Buncha jakes too. They were chasin each other around as well as the hens. Best part is....they were across the road from property i hunt woohoo!
  20. Nope cant give up on mine. Got a back pad and a seat attached to it. Everything gets loaded into it. If i forget something....i probably didnt need it. Had the same one for almost ten years now and i love it.
  21. Hoping to go this weekend to do a lil scouting and listening....just to get the blood pumping!
  22. Apparently I need to come hunt where you are lol
