1. Oh man- Super cool you caught him at the dinner table! For the life of me I can't ever find them that tolerant to my intrusion for a couple pics. Awesome!
2. Yeah, they started out horrendous at home but have been turning things around lately. Something about coming down to crunch time when these last few teams fight to stay alive for a playoff spot. The intensity of playoff hockey is just unmatched by any other sport IMO. Just watching the way the rookies mature and step it up to another level this time of year is fun to watch. Even if the Sabres bow out early in the post season run or don't make it at all.....I'll be glued to the tube catching as many games as I can. Might even have to root for Burts Rump Rangers if that happens!
3. If they hang on to the 8'th seat and have to face Philly in the first round.....I'm afaid not very far. I'd feel much better seeing them finish at least 7'th.
4. Any of you following along? Who do you think gets the 7'th and 8'th slot? It's all Buffs now(#8 by 5pts)., but I see them slipping into 6'th. Sorry 'bout last night Jersey boyz :'( , and watch your back Ranglers! [move] GO SABRES! GO SABRES!! GO SABRES!!! GO SABRES!!!! GO SABRES!!!!! GO SABRES!!!!! GO SABRES!!!!!!!! GO SABRES!!!!!!!!!! GO SABRES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [/move]
5. Blackbirds ya say? ??? If the SSS method don't work there's always the KKK method.....kill-klean-kook.
6. Lol, rats! Maybe I'll just get a Playstation and a few games myself for this season. If it's any consolation, I didn't vote against it. :-\
7.

..
You're joking right? Turn on the Outdoor Channel, espn,MSN, YOUR LOCAL NEWS...... Our kids are being programmed to what this world is today and has gotten away from the way it was. If that's cool with you, it's ok with me too.....let'em watch and learn from there. Yup, I'm all about me. Me, me, me.... Wake up fellas, if you want to hunt in a playground that's your choice. In 2 yrs I'm not asking for all that much difference in mental maturity but a little more than what's being proposed. What's the friggin rush. The last thing these kids have on their minds is the need to fill a freezer to supply for their futuristic families correct. By that time they'll have bigger concerns than how to kill a deer. I don't care either way, but believe me when your seasons are infringed upon, I'll be the last to listen to the boo-hoo BS of little boy blue my hunt. :'(
8. I agree, a snare would seem to be the most effective in keeping human odor to a minimum, the quickest set and most silent and probably the most productive. I like the whip, but hate to see any unsuspecting passer bys get spiked. Thanks for playing!
9. Bubs, I don't know offhand how old you are, but at your age, if you can't figure that out for yourself than maybe that 12yo is one up on ya.
10. Bubba, now I know how Pat had so much fun messing with you, lol. Plain and simple...you learn to walk before you talk and even after some learn to do both they still can't do it at the same time together. Throw bubblegum into the equation and we're all screwed. Ask a 12 yo to learn all 3 at once and we become the victims of the multitasking creation we've created. Baby 12yo hunting robots.
11. We should...but we spend too much damn time here bickering about it. >
12. Totally understood. You're the exception and not the rule but I do commend you for your success in the raising the boy to respect nature and all that has to do with it.
13. Seriously, any of my responses were intended towards the original topic of discussion. This is already drifting far from that. It aint about how much land I got or how many kids you've taught from your book of state regulated requirements. I've shown the way to quite a few of my own from the soul of my upbringing. You got your likes and dislikes afield and so do I. I fault nobody for their beliefs and prefferences afield but don't Fart with mine.
14. Now you can't tell me in all your years as an instructor, you've never come across an incompetant individual or two who'd have done best to stay away from the sport, but still got their certificate....? :
15. Absolutely not the point I was getting at but yeah, to a point I don't want the woods to be ruined by young or old incompetance. If I'm putting on my best hunt and two yahoos of any age stroll along and flubb my hunt I'm gonna be ticked. If I'm finding dead deer post season due to some newbs lack of followup experience and poor shot selection....I'm gonna be ticked. Yes, if it takes away from the satisfaction I grew up knowing and time I've put into the sport....yes, I'm gonna be ticked. Anyone that knows me knows i put alot into getting newbs into the outdoors, but that's not to be confused with my desire to keep some at bay and I don't believe that lifestyle begins with hunting.
16. Congrats Sam! Fluer is coming along great! Very cool!
17. SUPER- but remember those words next time you have that SUPER BUCK of a lifetime show himself to you and next thing you know, here comes dad and his gabby jaw-jacking 12 yr old along under your stand and Jr's bearing down on tree stumps and chipmunks. >
18. Quote from: G-Man on Today at 05:49:48 am

Now what if the parent isn't mature enough to make the right decisions sometimes for the child? Sometimes we get to posting on these sites assuming we are all old men who have seen all there is to see and know what is best for our youth. If I'm posting my 38 yo views on this topic, I'll bet there's a handfull of 50 yo dads out there tahat will take an entirely different stance and say I still have some growing up to do myself. Get my drift? And what's wrong with a kid being on the computer? Lot's of learning to be found here but if it's cutting into your time online, I can understand. 19. No-no doewhacker.., I respect your side as well and I'm probably in the minority on this subject. Just kickin' my thoughts around. It's all good!
20. Bologna- you wanna introduce a kid to the outdoors....you take him hiking, you take him fishing, birdwatching, frog catching, night crawler picking, camping. You don't throw a kid a weapon and call him and tell him he's a hunter. Perfect, sounds like your doing a great job with him and he's found activities that perfectly entertain his young mind without the need to be influenced in something he may or may not be mentaly prepared for. Give him 2 more years and I'm sure at that point you wont have any regrets. I'm not saying anyones kids will not grow into the sport, or are not welcome, but damn, pretty soon you'll get a hunting licence with you'r birth certificate and I don't think someone this young can comprehend the responsabilities that comes with over time.
21. That's my problem with it. A kid getting all jacked up on a video game in the safety of his own room is safer to me than a young warrior going Rambo in a big boy sport. Hunting/killing is reality I don't think a 12 yo is mature enough to jump right into full throttle untill he's past the video game stage and realizes there is a HUGE difference. We keep rushing kids into everything thinking it's gonna make the world a better place. Forcing them into adult situations before their little minds can completely understand a situation....and look where it's gotten us. Sure you can blame it on the games they play being so violent these days...but that problem begins with the parent who doesn't understand the impact it has on a young mind. Now if these same incoherent parents take the same actions with their children in real life killing situations....that just takes things to a whole new level. Pops always used to let me sit on his lap and stear the truck down the road as well when I was young but never once passed me the keys and let me drive even though I bet I could have....."could have" being the key words here. I could have under his supervision, but would that have made it any safer seeing I didn't totaly understand the repercussions of an accident yet????? IMO- in this day and age, anything similar would be considered endagering the welfare of a child when you drag them into a potentialy dangerous situation. Let the kids grow up and learn from honest experiences and good role models. Just because your pre-teen is well diciplined, doesn't make him ready to fully understand consequences and rammifications of their actions.
22. LMAO... a fine choice! Claymores on trip wires are prohibited in this new season! :'(
23. I don't like it. I see where it could gain a lot of support but I just think it's too young to hunt. My pops used to take me out with him long before I was old enough to hunt. Heck he even wrote the fake sick excuse for me to skip school every opening day and spend it with him sitting on a stump. If there's a true interest or passion for the outdoors to be passed on I believe it will still be there in 2 years and has nothing to do with a 12 yr old already having a kill under his/her belt. Don't get me wrong....., take the kids along, but I don't want to see them armed with any weapon at that age. Sorry- no vote from me.
24. Largely due to the loss of revenue after the controversial debute crossbow season is haulted at the mid point of ths season...NYS DEC allows hunters to trap deer durring the 2012-2013 season for an additional $25 tag to recoupe it's losses. ??? Snares, foot holds, live traps, deadfalls, maylasian whips, spike pits, net cannons, lassoe them from a stand....you name it, it's open season on any and all venison! Who's taking on the new challenge and tell us a little about what trapping method you'll be using!
