  1. That's a dandy! Way to get back on 'em with the thaw and good luck matching it up! ;D
  2. I woulda gave ya $700 for the gun. congrats bubba
  3. Nah, that little fella was definately roadkill. His ribs were jello. I must have just missed it. He made it 20 yds or so off the road with a group of other deer headed into the park. Their tracks cut a neighboring houses lawn before he shuffled across the ditch and died. Clean and legal kill there. They even crossed where they were supposed to within 100 yds of the deer crossing sign.
  4. Anyone ever wonder why Alaska has the highest # of suicides by state? Alaska #1- 21.8 per 100,000 New York- #49- 7.2 per 100,000 Thought maybe there was some kind of weather correlation there.....maybe next year. ???
  5. Pretty good phone pics right there. They look as sick of this weather as we are.
  6. x3 :'( Just when things were looking up we get blasted again. > Sure hope there's enough time between meltdown and green-up to rescue them all.
  7. If you turned your hearing aid up a notch you would hear they were probably calling you tight-wad.
  8. Heres one I found shed hunting a few years ago. Most likely killed by a bigger one, lol.
  9. Nothing in the way of sheds yesterday, but I did get into a few good looking areas I'll need to get back to when we get another thaw. My guess is two roadkills here. First one's an old doe. The 2'nd pic a button buck that was VERY fresh and still warm to touch. Concidered a backstrap lunch, but I just had a sammich. At a few new fields I found a lot of antlerless deer in groups of 10-20 grazing in the distance. In total I covered over 6 mile of ground yesterday and came home empty handed. :'( So far that's 4 dead doe and fawns, and one dead buck.
  10. Texas should become it's own country and conquer the rest of the world.
  11. Looks like a yearling fawn to me.
  12. I hear ya G-man, we're covered up good again and more on the way. > > > Suppose we just have to look for smaller pieces of antler poking through or take up cross stitch for another couple weeks. One of my spots that still holds potential in this kind of weather is an old Christmas tree farm you have to crawl through to look down the rows. Only a dusting ever reaches the ground. Lots of things to poke your eyeballs in there and very time consuming but a viable option if you don't want the weather to hold ya back.
  13. Nice! I may have had a hard time convincing myself to reload when the doe hit the ground and the work began. I know I wouldn't have done it twice. Great hunt!
  14. Maybe we should just close up shop and open another site. This place could use some member weeding and troll control anyhow! ;D
  15. Wow! I could have wall to wall carpet in my place with the rug off that thing!
  16. Not sure Geno, I thought the same at first glance but didn't waste any time to investigate it. May have been critter chew but who knows. I had antlers on the brain instead of playing CSI dude. Good luck tomorrow, and yes it is fun.
  17. Congrats to you and Fleur Sam! That's pretty cool, but you don't get any ATL's that way. Gave #7 a lift home today. Nice little 4pt. side on the way to an old apple orchard. The search for it's mate was called off due to snow. :'(
  18. That looks like an extreme case. Think I'd pop that one just to decrease the chance of that ugly trait spreading to the rest of the herd if by chance it's hereditary. I did get this one 2 years ago and saw a buck over summer that had some good growth beginning to cover his eyes and face. Not nearly as severe as that though. BTW- no meat wasted, only skin deep
  19. Great finds WNY Bowhnter! Busy day out there today! I started out finding this deadhead about 7ft up a tree. Assume it was someones euro attempt from a few years ago. Antlers bleached and chewed/ fur still on. Hiked a good while longer before making my way closer to some backyards where I've been seeing deer. In the thicket I saw tines and uncovered this oldie 4 pt. Not far from here headed back into the timber I found this dead doe. She looked pretty fresh- still had her eyeballs. On my way out now. I have no clue how this one caught my eye other than antler colored bird poop around it. There may have been 1/4" of bone showing. Another crotch horn oldie. Here I moved some of the leaves away. Figured I'd found my share for the day and would make the hike home taking the road. As I passed one of my honeyholes I decided to head into it for a quick look where I found my only freshy for the day- a 3pt busted main beamer. The days paycheck back at the palace.
  20. Just a deadhead 1 horn spiker today. Guessing he slipped down a steep slippery slope and got planted in the stream below. The spike was still glued on tight. I'll have to go back when we melt out some and see if he knocked the other side off when he tumbled. Nice to get a warm up for a change, unfortunately the sheds aren't the only things burried out there that begin to show up. :'(
  21. I have to keep logging in too but thought it was just my puter acting up as usual. :
  22. That could very well be the route of your inconsistancy. What rest are you shooting?
  23. Finally snatched up another one. Still a ton of snow here....he kicked this one out of a bed dig out. Some pretty good chew on it already.
  24. TRUE.....the wool helps keep your core temperature up so the scavengers have an easy time picking the warm meat from your carcass.
