I have been hunting in Deposit my whole life. There are some really nice bucks taken in Broome County every year. There have been antler restrictions there for probably 10 years so I am not sure where you saw that there are no restrictions. Nice buck walked by about 5 minutes before it was light enough to shoot (for me atleast). I saw his rack in binos as he left through a small field. Always something. Not meant to be. Thursday night, I had my bag next to my truck as I was loading my quad. I forgot it was there and apparently ran it over when I backed up. I didn't think anything of it.. when I got up to the property and I was prepping I notice my rangefinder is cracked and dead [emoji2356]... so I'm like well crap. Luckily the stand I was hunting only has a few shooting lanes that I had already ranged. Opening morning I get into stand and pull out my binoculars and they fell apart in my hand!!! I should have picked up and went home then. Needless to say, no shots taken. Saw a spike and a 4 pt all weekend. Time in the woods is still better than time at work but this time ended up being expensive. Ive tried everything except sous vide and the best for me is reverse searing. I season the steak, put it in the oven on 275 until internal temperature is around 125 (if you like medium rare). Take it out and let it rest for 10 mins. While its resting i put my cast iron pan on the stove to get as hot as possible. When the steak is done resting, I put it in for 1 minute on each side. When I flip I put in 2 garlic cloves and some butter. The last part you can leave out if you want but the steak will melt in your mouth, especially the high end steaks you're cooking. Hi all, Does anyone know hunters near Columbus Ohio. A coworker informed me of a young lady with 2 kids that has hit hard times. She is having financial trouble, and I was thinking if there was a hunter out there that wanted to donate a deer it would go a long way in atleast keeping them fed. Everytime I start losing hope, the rut reels me back in and gets my heart thumping. Saw a spike early and then I turned around 930 and saw a big boy walking by just out of range. Tried calling him in but he was on a mission. I tried to attach a video but I keep getting an error. Cant wait for Wednesday when I can get back out.
