Ain’t giving up yet. Would be nice to see one of us score.
-
Maybe I my turkey fortunes are equally applicable to bear hunting. Ha!
-
I thought this baited stuff was supposed to be easy. One guy did have a moose come in last night.
-
Well no bear last night either. Been a tough first 4 days. And I can count the days I have been here by the bags under my eyes. New one each day. Flies were tough last night. 2 more nights to get it done. And the euchre championship is tied at 2 night to 2 nights. lol. Still a good time. I am hoping for Dinsdale’s fortune. But boo boo may be in trouble at this point. Full body mount cub! Haha.

By the way, don’t try Bobs whiskey. 120 proof that’s way too smooth for safety!

Not much cell service. Short update. Having fun. Some late nights after hunting playing cards etc. Weather was tough first 2 days. Cold and wet is not good for baited hunts. No bugs but that also means no bear. No bear down yet. 2 of the group had a bear come in but didn’t get shots. My site was real quite for the first 3 hunts. Going to use a rifle starting now. Heading to a new site now that had a bear hit it yesterday. We shall see. Fishing is picking up. 2 pike and 2 bass in a few hours this morning. If I find service again, we will keep you posted. Bob and his buddies Terry and Zac are a riot.

Either that is a brand new grill or you are way too anal about it cleaning it and I do mean waaaaaay too anal. Meat looks great though.

I was admittedly bigger than 23lbs at 2!

Assuming Buckmaster and Rob made those stories up to keep people out of their woods. And guess what, it worked. I will stay far away from where they hunt! I haven't found much interesting other than a drop tine buck in the creek on my property that someone gut shot. Never found out who it was but I tried. Cool rack. -
lol - typical plate is 2 cheeseburgers, home fries, mac salad and beans. I was challenged to eat 2 in college and did so only to win a 3rd. That was a rough next day!

Belo has thicker skin than that. Now I on the other hand .......

Head net arrived if needed

I think a 350lb spring bear is an absolute monster. Not even hoping for that..... but wouldn’t be sad. Lol
-
Cool. Pic, Antler and next is full buck!

Baited Hunt. Some sites are stands and some blinds. Tough to shoot a long trad bow from most blinds though. Not sure if these are man made or natural blinds. My wife holds my man card for safekeeping in any event.

Don’t go overboard Belo. I am sure everyone can accept some blame for stirring the pot. We are all grown and can move on. Good luck with the turkey. You still have an hour left. Lol - nice name change Belo!
-
Thx all! Definitely bringing extra thermacell refills!
-
Steve I tend to agree and if its of reasonable size, I probably will release an arrow or pull the trigger. I just don't want to shoot one that is a cub. lol Killing one or not, it will be a great experience. Heck, sampling Culver's home made venison bologna is worth the price of admission.
-
Shooting the trad bow well so it is going and already registered with customs and border patrol. I will likely start with that and if things don't work out after three or four days, move to rifle. Wrastling will be an emergency back up plan only!

I still believe that turkey do not exist in NYS but these guys keep proving me wrong (unless they are really hunting elsewhere in claiming to be in NY - hmmmmm).
-
Congrats Jason. Well done on both the shed and ostrich.

So one of the fine members on here invited me to join him on a spring bear hunt in the province of Quebec. We head out on Friday for a week. Not sure he wants me to post (so I won't mention him by name - Culver Creek) but I will try to add updates (signal permitting) on how we fair. Should be fun. I have never seen a bear in the wild let alone tried to target one so the experience alone should be a blast and I know I am going with a quality group of guys. As I look at bear photos on this site with weight estimates, its clear that I may have a tough time gauging what is a shooter. It would be nice if one so big stopped by that there is no question. lol Thanks for the invite and opportunity Mr. Nameless!
