  1. My lever was coming loose and Henry paid shipping both ways and repaired it quickly. They are good people to deal with.
  2. Actually with the 458 you can get 600g bullets. I think the .50 is limited to under 450g - you know, small bullets. lol
  3. I know its the fish eye lens, but looked like a 100yd shot!
  4. I actually just read an article on this yesterday that suggested that faster twist doesn't hurt stabilization of lighter bullets, but definitely helps with heavier. Much like my arrows, I prefer lobbing in bombs anyways. lol
  5. Interesting, had no idea but 75g is one long 223. Thanks for the info.
  6. What do you mean by this? They will all fit as far as I know. Bolt or AR, faster twist rate helps with heavier bullets. Everything I read suggests that the 64g Winchesters are good deer bullets, but I too am of the school that I might as well hunt with more knockdown power than less. With the same POI, a bigger round can't hurt but can help.
  7. 3-5 seconds usually but there are times I intentionally hold longer when practicing.
  8. Complete with the contrasting black fire suppressor.
  9. Huge pond across the road has all the ducks and geese (its crazy loud at times). The wetland is mostly cattails with islands of brush. Great for deer but not so much for duck. But, I cant tell you how many times I sit a stand and have geese and ducks fly by in shooting range due to the pond across the road. (I assume 20-40yds is in range?)
  10. Not sure for how long Eddie. When I was in there last, I was told that they planned to stop carrying loading supplies.
  11. 40 acres all hardwoods and wetlands. Lots of bedding and neighbors have the food sources. Not enough to really manage deer, but they seem to be doing just fine on their own.
  12. Good stuff Bionic. Hope you get your replacement/repair sorted out ASAP.
  13. I honestly have not idea what you do with your thumb. Really odd.
  14. Where does your right thumb go on that stock? And now you have me wanting to buy a 458 socom upper. Lol
  15. Not sure which one it was but lousy angle on grip. Much prefer the regular pistol grip.
  16. And the pistol grip and adjustable stock. I didn’t like the thordsen. It was my original plan until I shouldered one
  17. Just call it your modern sporting rifle and you will be ok. Lol
  18. Yep, you pop the baseplate off the mag and you can add a spacer so that it will only accept 5 rounds and there are a lot commercially available that sit inside of the spring in the mag to limit travel. Takes 2 minutes to put it in or remove it. Magblock makes a bunch of them.
  19. The ARs are mil spec which means all the parts should be interchangeable from manufacturer to manufacturer. Not sure you will find a traditional looking 458 socom semi but once you start handling the AR I bet you find it more comfortable than a traditional stock. Very adjustable. Having just gone through the process, pinning the mag is not a bad option for hunting. It allows you to put whatever features you want on the gun. I used a 10rd mag and will add a limiter for hunting to 5. And it’s really easy to both load and unload. And while I know no one here would ever break the law, the pinning is not difficult to undue if required for repairs or whatever.
  20. Lol But the one time you see an elephant, you will regret not having it. Be prepared.
  21. I did the same thing my first season. Still have the bag.
  22. Buckmaster nailed it. Pinned mag makes it compliant. Loud doesn’t concern me. It’s not a plinking gun.
  23. This is both short and light. 6.xxlbs but still has a heavy fluted 16” barrel in 308. Would meet your criteria. Looking forward to shooting it. Assuming it’s accurate, I could see this becoming my favorite deer rifle. Very comfortable.
