You can get on the notification list at Midway USA and Graf and Son's. When they get what you want in stock they send you an email to let you know. You need to jump on it pretty quick though because they sell out fast.

I agree also. It would increase the number of people hunting bear because there is really nothing else to hunt that time of year. However, I don't see it happening in this state.
-
Exactly. I will add that this applies to any state.

I think it is starting to come back the other way. I have seen a lot of new hunters who have got into it just because they want the meat. People want to know where the meat the are eating comes from and no longer trust what you get in the supermarket. Shows like MeatEater are helping this too. And I think it will never be just for the elites as long as we maintain access to public land for hunting.

Have the money, now I have to choose…

You can't go wrong with a Winchester Model 70. -
I think you are giving them to much credit.

But this negates the whole reason they said they were moving the license date start to 9/1. The DEC said it was because we have to use last years tag before 10/1. If they wanted to move the start date to 10/1 they could have done that years ago.
-
I heard they were considering starting the NZ season earlier with the new license structure to give us a bow season about the same length as the SZ, but I'd be surprised if they started it on September 1. That is real early.

I don't know Elmo at all, but from reading a lot of what he posts I'd say you are dead wrong. Have you gone back and read your posts?
-
This thread is great. It looks like everyone agrees he shouldn't have been suspended for expressing his beliefs yet there is 6 pages of bickering back and forth about ridiculous stuff. How many days until hunting season?

From what I've read Phil never liked being on the show anyway, so I'm sure he isn't to upset. It would be nice if a company actually stood behind someone for a change. They are always quick to just fire or suspend people for speaking their mind.

The best thing to do is watch the documentary and then decide. Happy holidays!

If thinking that animals deserve to be treated fairly and not abused makes you think I'm an animal rights activist then so be it. I have no respect for anyone that believes animals have no rights. If you wanted to have an intelligent debate on that matter that would be one thing, but it doesn't appear you are capable of that.
-
Some people (like Doc) don't believe in animal cruelty. They think all animals are put on this planet to serve us and if we want to lock a highly intelligent mammal in a small pen and make it perform like a clown for our pleasure then so be it. These are the same people that beat their dogs and think it's ok because they are property. I don't believe in any animal being locked up for our pleasure unless they have sufficient room and habitat to act like a normal animal in their native habitat.

Absolutely. I'm ignorant too which is why I'll hold back any stupid comments on people being whackos until I see it. I have however talked to several people that have seen it and know the basics as to what its about.

It isn't a CNN documentary, but it was shown on CNN. The DVD is available. http://blackfishmovie.com/

I haven't watched the documentary yet but I plan to. It chronicles the life of the whale that killed the trainer all the way back to when it was captured and shows how poorly sea world treats its animals. Now that people know what conditions these intelligent animals are kept in they are choosing not to support that company. So why do you think people are whackos for not wanting animals stuck in a cage and treated poorly? It has nothing to do with hunting free range animals and your comments seem very ignorant.

As Bubba said, us northern guys are in the minority, but we have had an early muzzleloader season for years. I hear more shots fired opening day of ML than any other day. There are also more deer killed on that one day then any other day during regular season. So it is working out well for those that ML. However, I don't own one... I'm just one of the elitist bowhunters.

Nope.

WE HAVE MOUNTAIN LION IN NEWBURGH AND PROOF

This one too. http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2013/08/29/rare-sight-mountain-lion-sits-on-top-of-deer-in-santa-monica-mountains/ -
I use the bore snakes as well. They make it about as easy as it can get.
-
Change is good as long as they are making them for the right reasons.
-
I appreciate your input, but If they want to change it to 10/1 for consistency throughout the state why not line up the firearms start dates too?
-
I don't hear anyone complaining that the bow season is to long in the northern zone. We generally get about 3 weeks and we share one of those weeks with the muzzleloaders.
-
I think they may end up starting it earlier eventually with the change. Maybe it will coincide with early bear.
