  1. That's true, the Zim officials have alleged it was killed illegally but we do not yet know if anyone will be convicted. Unfortunately that doesn't really matter in the court of public opinion. Being pro-hunter doesn't mean you need to support poachers, and we as hunters need to do a better job of not putting ourselves in these situations. It's only gotten worse with social media.
  2. Its true people shoot elk, buffalo, wolves, etc. that wander outside of the Yellowstone into legal hunting areas. The difference is those animals migrate out of the park on their own, these guys lured the animal out of the park by dragging a dead animal behind a vehicle to where this guy was waiting to shoot it. It turns out the animal was killed illegally (per Zim officials) and two guys have been arrested. This occurred before the media in the US got ahold of the story. If this guy trusted the guides without looking into whether or not he was shooting an animal legally then he is just as big a d-bag as the guides. There is definitely a lot of media bias to this story and it sucks this guy is getting ruined because of it, but It's okay for people to think he's a scumbag for being involved in illegal hunting activities... if its true.
  3. Saw this on the confederate flag thread and though it was appropriate here. It's amazing that the same d-bags supporting the flag are opposed to people in love getting married. This website has really gone off the rails the last few months. Love wins!
  4. So you guys aren't really saying all regulation is bad are you?
  5. It's hard to argue with what was written about NY though. Seems accurate to me.
  6. Ha... I agree. The best way to make it complaint is move to another state.
  7. I'm not familiar with Arizona, but I know its one of the top trophy elk states. You may want to post some of the questions you have on a few of the western hunting forums like hunttalk.com and rokslide.com. There are lots of guys that hunt Arizona and could give you some first hand information. I'm moving to Idaho in 3 weeks and have been doing a lot of research. The regs are confusing compared to NY where you just buy a tag and hunt, but I think that is because they are actually managing their game animals. Once you get your residency I'd start applying for some of those hard to draw hunts like bighorn sheep ASAP. You'll also be able to drive to a lot of states that offer OTC elk and deer every year, but I'm pretty sure you can hunt deer OTC in Arizona. http://azgfdportal.az.gov/hunting/species/biggame/
  8. Since when have gun purchases had to make sense? If you have the itch then buy it. Then when you get another itch for something different buy that too.
  9. With the premium bullets and rangefinders they have these days magnums are really unnecessary. But people seem to think bigger is always better.
  10. I bet a lot of people have it and don't even realize it because the symptoms go away after a few weeks.
  11. That's a funny list. What's really funny is that some people are so dumb they think all the problems in this country can be blamed on one political party.
  12. I'd always go stainless if you have the choice. One less thing to worry about on extended trips. If you plan to be back in a nice warm camp or at home every night then it doesn't matter as much.
  13. I agree. Potential loss of access and habitat is the biggest issue facing hunters today. Everyone needs to do their part to keep public lands public.
  14. Randy Newberg started a youtube page where he is giving the details of applying for non-resident tags in the western states. It is good information. He only has 4 videos up so far but he is working on more. I've watched them all so far. They give some good information. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQOcUD2aFxEjc-_4JJBLYyg
  15. Not this year, but I may buy a point. I'm considering a move to Idaho which would make it much easier to hunt Wyoming as well as the other western states.
  16. The wife and I tried to go Saturday night but it was sold out. I hope to see it soon.
  17. Good post Mike. Backcountry Hunters and Anglers is a good organization working to protect our public lands. I've been a member for a couple years now and I think others should look into it.
  18. I checked the Outdoor News website and didn't see anything on there. If someone could post a link or put the article up I'd like to read it.
  19. I leave mine on all the time. I do all my practice with it on so I'm used to it.
  20. I love how people that buy these gimmicks get so defensive. I expect its because they hate the idea that they may have been scammed.
