i know other states seem to have hot spot counties listed but that can also be a drawing card for out of state hunting? not sure...
-
yeah thats what i figured... i was just curious if any case studies have some of the best deer hunting counties listed. Or where some of NYs biggest deer happen to be harvested.
-
I was just curious has there ever been any studies or statistics inline to determine some of the best Counties in NY? I always wondered... Im talking any specific counties where big bucks tend to be harvested?
-
that was a great read.. thanks for posting

i know there are alot of new game laws that have become over the past years BUT none of which has detered me away from any sport fishing or hunting. I can see it being an issue for some but im not too concerned with what others may be doing and why. To be honest i can careless if there has been a decline in hunters. I dont think any law they make aside from making hunting illegal will totally abolish hunters in the woods altogether. There will always be hunters hunting... Id aim some of that gripe on less hunters in the woods to tradition. Its not like it used to be and i see alot of traditions falling through the cracks and some kids/new hunters not really being gun ho for the sport. But i dont mind not seeing red or orange hats every 50 freakin feet in the woods or trucks parked all up and down every road hunting. It used to be a sausage fest in some woods with hunters walking around everywhere. I dont know about you but i dont miss those days a whole heck of a alot. I dont mind walking into a bar and seeing majority of girls and just handful of guys. But im straight and i guess thats just me? lol point being at one point it used to be congested in some areas, especially out here. i dont really care what every tom dick and harry are doing and why they are not hunting. I know the hunters in the woods now are getting the job done and number prove it each year...

There is always a flip side to every coin... the hunter should be happy with the decisions made by the DEC maybe not all of them but most things are out of our hands and the deer herd is definitely of top concern so both statements made by Doc and joe are true... I know the hunter number are kind of on the decline but i never seem to see the difference out here on the island... seems like everyone hunts out here

Hmmm, I'm not following here? Are you saying that those who are not choosey are more likely to do illegal acts like reusing tags or not tagging deer? I think stunts like that can be committed by those who aren't choosey along with those that are just the same. i.e seeing a bigger and better buck after you have already taken a smaller one. We are talking about people hunting within the law here, so I think implying that one side is more likely to commit illegal acts will take us down even more slippery slopes. im absolutely sure it can go either way. i was not trying to narrow it down to one side per say. i was on a little break from work and might not have took the time to clarify that 100% but im sure you get my point...
