Remember always leave a few to keep them multiplying in the wild. Another great little flower is the trout lily ,Dutchmans britches and wild geraniums.

This debate may become moot...seeing the state wants to make sure it's a sport. Their AR push to make an attempt to get everyone their "participation trophy"

Wooly, they should actually smell nice. You dug them out of a group of invasive Chinese garlic. That is the the round green leaf in the background. I yank as much as I can of that when walking...worst invasive other than Russian olive and starlings I've ever seen. Any ways that's probably the smell..clean that clump of bulbs before planting...you do not want to bring home any CG roots in that and plant it.

Hope you don't have to deal with it long..and try not to over do when you think you feel better..I went shopping Tuesday...That night was pretty bad. The only thing that didn't ache were my teeth.

You aren't the only one that thinks that...ie...go look at the cross bow harvest thread...guys payed their 30 bucks for the privilege to use a cross bow during bow season...Did it look like that money was about to go to waste?I think not... -
Snow drops(Galanthus)..first flowers other than Hellerbore to flower....though I've never seen doubles with a variegated green center.

Then watch the lock down on properties...the owners that have allowed hunters on their lands...only have to deal with a couple of BS issue and watch how fast all hunting stops. Yes I've seen it here and people thought my posted signs were close...Well we now have properties with signs every 20 ft..Wall papered signs...We are in one of the big buck areas, poaching has been a problem here way before I moved here over 20 yrs ago... -
Hope your feeling better Jeremy..Our son called at 4 am. 102 and vomiting....2 of his buddies and 2 guys he works with have all gotten ill in the last 2 weeks....pharmacists and a local teacher said it's running through this area like a grass fire.

FSW..We may not agree, but I give you credit...you are right it's all about the money. As far as the park is concerned think about this. How many guys now get on the net and talk to EVERYONE then show pictures of Letchworth hunting and deer takes. Give tips talk about were to stay...come on, of course it's going to get packed. For one thing, it's just a place many never considered nor heard of before social networking. So as the net grew the knowledge of the park grew. -

You guys talk of age structure and ratios...1:1 or 1:2...being so wonderful...Lets talk about, say my situation...where doe have several, no doe hunting, low pressured areas to go. They hang during the day and only move at night. Now You have some of those "perfect" ratio's in place...When do the deer need to move to breed?...Is there a bunch of chasing and seeking? Are these deer now at home, staying on their day time sanctuaries and traveling to feed only at nighT...no buck to chase them around...everyone's paired up and happy campers...is that it? Serious question. -

Then you had the answer to your question...Now answer this... Why would they take 2 such units as 8M and 8X..I know these areas and omit them from AR's while circling them with units in AR's -

Well there you go The very reason there is no need for this right? See in a perfect world...but everyone is thinking no one is teaching anyone, regardless of the #'s showing differently. Hey There was JUST one year of the protect young buck campaign. Now suddenly they Have to a law to do it...Want to tell me how much tangible evidence they have to say ,mind you, a ONE year campaign failed, to push this legislation? I will stick with my original thoughts on this. It has nothing to do with herd management, everything to do with image and Cuomo doesn't like the image of an unsafe NY deer season...this helps that without ever having to publicly address it. -

I agree with first time hunters...though the whole thing reeks. I do not agree telling youth that it is OK to shoot anything you want for up to 5 years(if they bow hunt). Then they should magically flip a switch and think it's a bad thing....Kids brains don't work like that. So you are setting things up for, possible illegal activity... because it's much more difficult to wait after you've been allowed not to for that long...It would also only take a year, maybe 2 for busy ,active young people with ever tightening schedules to say..." Well this sucks!" and stop hunting, when they have had to sit there passing deer. -

I'm glad you mentioned that...8X wasn't listed as well. I noticed, for 8m is right next door. I hunted there during 8N's no buck phase. 8X is where our camp is...Now those two areas are harder to get doe tags in...but this will make them a hot spot for guys that just want to choose their own buck...lower doe and what, was that the sound of many more truck/car doors closing in their areas than before?...I'm think yes...at a time when they are trying to recover from the last deer management brain fart, where they lost a good portion of their doe population...Now if guys go there to buck hunt what ever they choose...think they'll go for a doe tag as well? Do you think people that have ,most likely, never stepped foot in any of the areas they are writing laws on, actually have a clue? I have to tell you I don't. -
I have a couple of spots that failed last year...so I'm raking the moss off them now and will frost seed in March...we had too many warm and rainy days in between the cold, to seed for my liking...Man I have some crazy amount of grass killing to do in the clover plots...not at all happy about that...then another, wild freaking daisy's...they are one of my perennial weed nightmares.

I don't know how old you are...young enough to traverse the wall of Letchworth, I'll assume not too old. Me ,this year I start pushing my way to 60...older but not old. I do know many older gentleman and some gals that are older hunters...some with failing health...They go through what can be an extreme effort to hit the woods and I can tell you they could give a damn about deer size...They just want to say they shot a deer that year and they enjoyed eating it. If you throw the old doe thing at me, I just may puke...I should have proven that it's not always easy to get a doe to show in day light...and I hunt more than most. So some of these older people may have that one single opportunity and it could be a 4 or 6 pt...They deserve that opportunity. See you(general term) younger chest beat bucks that need bragging rights...well most of you have a good many years left to make that choice...If that is what you want, go for it...you obviously don't need a law to force you to wait. Oh I forgot in" today's world", your not suppose to wait, you should be able to have a big buck behind every other tree. That's what will make them so much more special to shoot....Like picking the biggest apple in the bin..So many big apples in that bin, all very tasty and bright...You just needed to pick and choose the very biggest... Yes my sarcasm is back -

I'm not all that concerned about this bill personally...we have the herd. I don't think this has anything to do with herd management, its about the shooting "accidents" that happened. Make them stop and count before shooting,I can see that rumbling through their little brains. Two birds with one stone. Clearing the decks for a better image regardless of the facts. I love the message to the young hunters...you get to shoot any little buck you wish to until your 17yrs old. Yes you don't have to work to improve the herd it's not that important really. BTW,all you older guys with less time afield left..you can't take what you'd like before your no longer able to hunt,to bad you've put in your time..you no longer count. -
