  1. Buckmaster.. not going to get into it with you ,other to say, Growalot heads each of my posts. If you have a problem with them, please feel free to skip reading them.
  2. Tossed salad, venison Spanish rice. I put bkl. Beans lots of roasted red and green peppers, blk. Olives, cilantro, cumin onions and garlic, jalapino peppers, home canned tomatoes. Topped in a layer of mixed cheeses.
  3. No I was partially quoting what HE said... to point out that if most wouldn't raise the gun on such deer, as in the pics I posted of live deer on our place...there shouldn't be a need for AR's. I didn't imply hunters across NYS have his mind set...BTW it's been many a year since I've shot a 4 pt...no matter how much they seem to follow me around during the season. Hey I obviously have shown I like seeing big mature buck..I have shown many a pic of them...I just don't have a need to shoot them. I do not have mounts done...perhaps if I get a crazy big one I might...but being cheap probably not..just one more thing to clean...I wish I had all the money some of you have sitting on your walls collecting dust...A nice picture and a mid priced frame gives me all the enjoyment I need. Plus extra cash in my pocket to play with. Just different mind sets...I do not begrudge those that have the desire to take that course of action. In that same note no one should begrudge me mine, or those that feel as I do.
  4. Rains have stopped so I'm headed out to do more cutting. I downed sever junk and dead as trees yesterday to open up a producing oak and bring more light to a new /old plot area.. I got a new view barrier fence line up to 4 ft high this will block rifle shots through my woods to the plot and steer the deer closer to a couple of old stands. All my plans are now changed...looks like I'm loosing my tractor right during crucial spring planting and ground work..Ticked but I understand..I has to be done...she's going in for a sandblast and paint job. As soon as the shop can take her. So looks like the DR and the tiller will be getting a work out( me too) ...best get my turkeys early this spring...... Frost seeding has now taken on a new importance...and I'm glad I was on the fence about some summer annuals...looks like fall planting will take priority.
  5. Don't plant anything that cost much...like hosta...Dang deer love to eat hosta. Mr B just told me he has some free wild flower seeds arriving...not sure where he got them but It's has something to do with bees. He's now gotten into them himself... So if you want pretty and it's in some shade ,look for a shady wild flower mix...There are many wild flowers deer eat. go dig up some wild day lilies, cone flowers, buttercup,(even though these cause rashes on people), blue lupine, poke weed is an all time favorite of deer..over soybeans here. I love seeing where it is popping up even in plots It will always get a pass on mowing or spraying.. ...but poisonous to kids... http://thedailysouth.southernliving.com/2016/06/12/13-garden-plants-deer-will-utterly-destroy/ http://www.gardenguides.com/97288-types-flowers-deer-eat.html http://www.oardc.ohio-state.edu/weedguide/single_weed.php?id=112 http://www.abundantnature.com/2013/10/more-deer-sign-in-pokeberry-patch.html
  6. Holding off until later in the week...temps are a bit colder here.
  7. Tossed salad, cubed venison steak, baked potatoes, green beans, carrots, finishing up blueberry pie.
  8. I can't say I know anything about them except...wow! big bore are expensive. I personally can't see spending the cash...I don't know cost to shoot over a 30 cal. center fire. I see a lot of foreign sounding names in models I googled...So are there not many USA manufactures? I do know I'd prefer being able to clearly hear the direction of another shooter while in the woods.
  9. Mr B likes them a lot...but he loves the zucchini patties. I'm so glad I spent a few afternoons making and freezing a bunch of packages of them last fall.
  10. Chicken fingers with ranch dipping, zucchini patties, butternut, Brussels, blueberry pie.
  11. So the TV is newer with a built in converter? Other wise the antenna needs to go through a converter box.
  12. Nice ...is that a double beard I see?...Congrats!
  13. Lots of big farm lands there...family members have a big dairy farm there . Their son in laws family has one as well. I can see where that would be a good place to run hounds. They run them out near Atlanta as well ..several big farms all together.
  14. Baked Cod,home made steak fries( onion powder, Bue Monde(sp?), Rendezvous seasoning), tossed salad, beet greens, carrots. Blue berry pie.
  15. I remember they had a corner grocery store /deli at the 2 Dr 15 intersection years ago. The post office now, also more than a few bars.
  16. I Have never heard of the red and white...BTW ..tell em where you got it moved. They are now located on the road between Wayland and Atlanta...about 2/3 to a mile past the troopers barracks and Sure fine on the rt. side. It's also the redemption center now. It's where I buy my Brenekes.
  17. I don't know I met him back in 77 when I lived in Perkinsville and went to Alfred. Then they owned and his wife was the cook for their restaurant the Blue Goose. Pretty good food. His archery shop was right next door to "Tell em where you got it" tackle and gun shop. He was a character but a great and generous guy..excellent hunter.
  18. I Have to say I like iron clay, but lab lab are good as well.
  19. I Never had to strain and my archery guy ,Ray Tolner owned his own shop, was a competition shooter that traveled across the country and was old enough to have shot with Fred bear. His shop was in Wayland NY. He taught me proper form , custom made my arrows and set up my bow for proper shooting, 3 under. I can't speak to what is or isn't, should or shouldn't, be easy for others. He asked a question and I answered with my personal experience. No argument nor assumptions here. one of the Archery magazines printed a Call out thank you piece I wrote about his guidance and my appriciation...Can't recall the issue at the moment but was late 1990's as I recall. ...BTW God bless Ray...I miss our chats.... Ohhhh...Google him...he won the NYS archery competitions several times.
  20. My first bow was a 45# recurve. Kodiak bear, took my first bow buck 7pt. the following year. I was 5'6" at the time . Never mind the weight 36 yr. old woman. I Had no problem drawing and holding my draw. Holding my draw for as long as I can before shooting Is still part of my practice sessions. Enjoy whatever you choose.
  21. Ahhh come on guys not all cats are bad...just like dogs..it's the owners of some...many....
  22. For those of you that have established plots here's something that's working for me...When doing my turnip plots I seed them more than once. Early to get good growth, second to assure small tender bulbs in late bow. What happens is many of them are missed . This has them growing during every warm up during the winter. They put on greens and tiny bulbs. Deer will nibble the greens but due to the worms and bugs feeding on old bulbs and the tiny ones the birds hit these plots in the spring for both bugs and greens. I'd show pics but everythig is under snow right now.
