I'm glad you posted ...for I was in the middle of answering your concerns when I got Daves Wonderful Opinion... What I was typing at the time was this... You may not under stand and I'm not defending owner nor the dogs ...by ANYMEANS...but the dog in pic has a medical condition and ALWAYS looks like this...the same owners other dog that charged me and I tied up...that dog looks like a barrel with a head and tail....how they are not cared for is when I nicely approached her about them upsetting our kenneled and house dogs by being down here she said that the shepherd was tearing up the house and she was leaving it out side when no one was home and allowing it to run...at that time I'd not been a problem with the goats as she has live stock as well....not until after the fact have I learned it had been chasing their horses as well...unlike my self ...who believes dogs should always be under the owners control...she thinks they should be allowed to run By the way these are the same ppl that I posted and was proud of their sons buck kills this and last year...and the same ppl that alerted me to and came down when they saw poachers lights bee bopping around our woods last year...the ppl that we used ourtrackor to clean their barn......you know being the horrible person some think me to be I will wait a bit for a response ..for all I know the daughter deleted the e-mail...they are family pets

So let me recap this and a few others ...I'll start with this... 1.Our goats were killed....found nieghbors dogs were the only preditor to come back on film a...I don't shoot them...nor poison them 1. I simply managed to rope and tie the one that charged growling and barking and had a mutual friend take it home b. I don't call the cops...nor confront them... 1. I send an e-mail with pic and say " put cams over kill to see what may killed the goats this is what I got c. been waiting for a response 2. I have a new nieghbor call me screaming how I don't patrol my property well enough and I had best start...I do and find him with an open burn a. I don't call VOLUNTEER fire dept..wasting resources and embaressing him infront of other neighbors b. Call the DEC...who drafted burn law...and first thing I say is..I don't know if this is illegal but.... c. I didn't go off on a rampage and have him arrested for assault for the first call...because that is EXACTLTY what that was according to the law 3. I posted about buying new land ....going to neighbors and letting them know I bought said land gave out cards with my # and name so if there were deer to be tracked or problems to give me a call...but no hunting the family hunts the land thank them and leave a. many retrieval calls and a few problem call no screaming and permissions given b. Did not deny all retrieval or say too bad on problem calls when after I gave out infor a drunk nieghbor who had been illegally hunting the land for years called up to call me a FB...DC B and a few other choice things...nor did I have his drunk fanny arrested 4.. and finally ...I had poaching and family and I shot at on our land because ppls grandsson we bought land from was angry and a drunk(according to his grandmother).... I recieved NO help from sheriffs...DEC...or troopers...no one would even go talk to these guys...I told them and all ppl around me they would shoot and kill someone one of these days..3 yrs later they did just that So yep...I'm one miserable SOB to live next to...For I believe I did not do some of the things some of you suggested ...shoot back...poison ...SSS...call cops..fire Dept.ect...and I also didn't roll over and let ppl walk over me for the sake of their right to be abusive first....Nope...I can say for those of you who would not want to be my neighbor...I truely feel blessed

A knife in Rochester NY...hhmm and a gun in Florida...step mothers husband came to steel back his kids that she'd stolen from him...I wouldn't give up the kids...13 at the time....first there was a scuffle between my bother my self and him...when we got him out the door he went to rental and got a gun...I barricaded us in the house those kids were my responsibility...get one to day care and myself and other to school every morning ...he left and returned with police...no parents around I still refused to open the doors...until they threatened to arrest my brother and send me to detention center...he'd gone to get help from neighbors...I let one ..the youngest go...all left before parents ever got back from jobs...later found out...police had been paid by him as back up....they knew we were alone because of a detective...had tried to get in earlier asking if some one lived there...I wouldn't open the door then either...so he didn't know my brother was there when giving the go ahead....

Well I put trail cams over the goats....and today when I went to check....planned on hunting yotes over...to get rid of killers....I was so very wrong for I surprised a nieghbors dog and it chased me out of the paddock growling and barking...I got gate closed and fashiond a long rope and noose out of bailing twine I leave on fence...got it dropped over its head and tied up...then retrieved the cam card....the only visitors was the dog I tied and the same owners other dog in pic....had a mutual friend come retieve the one and I e-mailed this one pic...of many more nasty ones of the other dog...only these dogs crow and a fox were on cam....pic was taken on the 16th .....ppl need to learn to control their dogs or this is what happens....they were also the same dogs our son saw eating a deer up the road from us....

We are blessed....seems like every year I find something new growing....the woods are loaded with current and goose berry brush...All very small ..but when Idig them up and put them in areas of good balanced soil and SUN...wow in a couple of years I have 5ft bushes loaded with fruit....there are large areas of mayapples...suprised we don't have more bear actually...and wid ginger and herbs...though wht oak for some reason doesn't do well here ....Our red oaks are generouse enough to have trees producing on alternating years so every year at least a few have acorns...down side...with this soil if there is a soil borne disease to be had ...we seem to have it and are loosing alot of trees to things like canker...our beech have been hit hard and the sugar maples have now been attacked by a canker....I liken this stuff to the numerous shiny plastic helium ballooons I have to pick up several times a year here.....if it's air born to the west of us....it will land on us...be it balloon ....seeds ...or disease...Mother nature

So...due to the fencing going up I have a whole new area to play with....I believe I'm going to try a small section in Sun Hemp....It is suppose to be great for not so good soil and high in protiens and deer like it...even if deer don't I really need to build this soil up and suppress weeds as well ....it is a very fast grower...in average soil suppose to get to 6ft in 60days and can be cut back to 10-12 inches and regrow.......nothing ventured ...nothing gained...we'll see....

I see your in Niagra county....so I'm assuming zone 6 and windy.... Chinese chestnuts ...hazel and mulberry...every thing took a really long time to get a foot hold but I'm on a west sloping hill(1900ft) and the winter winds are brutal here as well as the deer.....my Mulberries are now producing great after years of being small as well as the hazel nuts...and those I have been able to use the suckers from...for I let them grow as bushes not trees to plant in other areas.... ...all of a sudden they took off and in in two years shot up 10ft and produce like mad...they do need some pruning....the chestnuts still struggling ...planted both american and meader persimmons and same thing ...but now I have a few 9ft trees.....so...I highly recommend that you invest in some sort of tree tube...like Plantara.......which is something I didn't but am going to this year for new plantings....you won't regret the mulberries both the turkey and deer love them...as well as raccoons.... I try to plant areas as a succession group....I'm lucky in that our property is loaded with wild fruits and the spring we have areas that are just a carpet of wild strwaberries...every thing including us love them...then well the list is long but I plant to keep the deer interested all spring -summer long and have blue berries...buying more....aronia ...mulberries...peaches....pears...cherries several summer thru Oct apples...dogwood....quince...sasafrass...ect....with the vines as they get bigger and you need to prune...root your cuttings...and brush that sucker ...they can be removed with roots attached....saves money down the road If you don't have elderberies ...I highly reccomend them and not just the late summer edible ones ...but the wild spring -summer reds....besides being a YEAR around food souce....for the deer and early food for the turkey...the buck on our place just love to rub them...great thing about that...they can seeminging destroy the entire bush...but then the next summer they are 6ft tall again...as long as they get enough sun...they are an under story plant...find someone that has them and dig several...they spread well...

Mr. B bought me a new remington 243 for down at camp....I took this little six point with it...first deer I've ever shot with a rifle....60yrds and it went through one shouder shattering it ...he piled up after a 40 or so yrd run....don't like the lack of blood trail...was none....but he did drop in sight....

Wow ...Dave ...such a class act...really...we had these goats for years and I helpd deliver two of them ...nice guy thanks I won't get into details....but there was a reason I knew that with fetuses 7 goats were killed...just 2 females were bred...and the billy...besides being ripped apart had his entire face missing....we've had yorte attacks in the past...it was yotes...not that there isn't a problem with running dogs

I have to be honest....when I went out today and saw the massive whole they tore in the back pasture fence...well my first thought was a bear had to do that...though I know that not to be the case...I have to get pics...it really is very large with the wire all ripped open and bent toward the pasture...these goats were fully horned and adults....I found 6 sets of tracks and they were held by the hind quarters and belly while the throats were ripped out

Thank you for that input....but this is not MY side of the story....this is from a person that had dealings with this guy this past summer...unknown to me until now...also accounts from a conversation with another neighbor that she is life long friends with.....please never extend a shoulder for me to cry on NYA...believe me I do not need it....haha...I hope your way of infer ring I'm a liar wasn't meant to be subtle...you missed the mark....lol ...but I not going to waste my energies quibbling with so fire at will that was just an update I'm down with this post...thank you.....

Let me start this by saying I really just wanted to forget this post .... unfortunatly for the goats...but fortunate for me I have new light bought to the issue...When calling the farm down the road to give heads up about the goats...who's land is directly across the road from our land in question...we got to chatting about things going on around the area.... bingo now I know what is up with the new guy... So last year he got into it with the ppl that border him to the East...they also border us...inturn the ppl we border had to go and heavily post around this new guy......Thus his screaming I plastered his line with signs...nope..but mine where the only ones with a # to call so he could scream at someone and because none of us had problems I didn't know..... for the new signs only bordered him.... Then this guy decided to put up a new mail box...but not like everyone else...he went several feet into the ppls land across the street and concreted in a mail box...with out pryor consent making a real mess...now yes ppl do have mail easemnets but he way over stepped and a mower was damaged and he never got pryor permission from utilities even though frontier has signs posted of under ground wires...well that resulted in a note and he jumped in his truck ready for a fight...Now the farmer works for the DOT and she knows that mail boxes aren't suppose to be put in BURIED concrete because it can damage plows...and she set him back on his heels sorta speak..... Well not getting his way to do what ever he wanted on other ppls property ...I believe left him with just one other nieghbor to try and bully in his frustation...Thus that crazy and a bit bizzar phone call during hunting season...accusing me of things that didn't take place ..telling me no one was allowed to hunt my lands and I needed to remove my(LEGALLY) placed stands...also explains why he refused my offer to speak face to face and to call the police my self... So for those that wanted to think the worst of my actions ...feel free....Now WE ALL have a good input to whats going on there.... little knowledge is aa good thing...any further problems with him...I have 2 other property owners as a back up

Thanks for the offer but I yote hunt and Mr. B has A guy that comes out ....I back tracked today and found where they are coming in off our place...and then found 2 dens with fresh urine drips near the entrances on the side of gully on our place.......Actually I'm going to set up on the bodies.....they may as well help kill their killers...temps here have been so very cold ...-4 last night When I called another local farmer to give the heads up....horses...sheep and goats....she told me that down by them her spouse and a few others took 15 out in one week end last winter...just a 1/2 mile away....she said that they've been seeing them a lot that they figured they were going into heat and up roaming....four times as many yote and fox tracks on us as there are deer...not good....perhaps not as many deer taken here as I thought...I did find 2 doe(deer) taken down to clean bone a couple of weeks ago....howling has had our shepards barking in the kennel all night for weeks now...

Fed the goats late yesteray...bail of hay warm water and plenty of feed...they were bagged up getting ready to deliver....Mr.B. plowed a path thru 1 1/2 ft of snow to the barn and no goats at the gate...they were Sananns and wht...it took a second to realize they were scattered across the paddock under a blanket of snow...with fetuses...we lost 7 last night....several tracks were just visible coming thru the back feild fencing across pasture and thru the paddock fencing...Over the years we've lost several kids and 3adult goats to yotes.......they won...I'm done

I thought you were saying they were taking out old less productive or damaged and replacing with new....we make our own juice 79gals last fall....have a great batch of cider brewing in the barrels and lots of frozen cider ......
