The 2 days have been great for cutting..well until winter hit again....I have been cutting mainly the poplar and then cutting log sections and limbs to add to the fences...the log sections are just a tad heavy to handle with out equipment...Mr B has been wanting forks for the tractor...I just may say go for it..I couldn't really see the need before it's a lot of $$$ for a big toy...lol...That mostly I'd be using...but it would certainly be handy in collecting then moving brush and holding logs to be cut for firewood. Lots of that to be cut in the future...many double trees and dying ash...unfortunately a lot of dying maple as well..soil born fungus is leaving me with standing dead maples...and well the beech have the canker taking them out...I have two areas that mother nature is "clear cutting" for me...might as well take advantage new future bedding areas

Being a land owner in 2 different areas of NY now...paying CRAZY taxes....I would put the money in the bank...then figure about 6,000.00 per hunt...5 years worth...I would over that 5 year period figure what I would have payed in taxes for a descent hunt able acreage...I would take that estimated money and add to the 30,000 account thus by the end of five years...still have a tidy some to take perhaps another 5 years worth of hunts..or..... money to pay the taxes on what I already have and enjoy it more over the next 5 years....

Doc...don't let him bother you...I don't ...I read the nasty things he writes and feel sorry....One can see through his words the black hole his massive ego made and know that once created black holes are not escapable ...so I won't venture into his "event horizon" to feed his density

erussell..Thanks for the link...proves another point... The Codex was probably seen in 1761 by the Italian traveller, Vitaliano Donati, when he visited the Monastery of Saint Catherine at Sinai. His diary was published in 1879, in which was written: "In questo monastero ritrovai una quantità grandissima di codici membranacei... ve ne sono alcuni che mi sembravano anteriori al settimo secolo, ed in ispecie una Bibbia in membrane bellissime, assai grandi, sottili, e quadre, scritta in carattere rotondo e belissimo; conservano poi in chiesa un Evangelistario greco in caractere d'oro rotondo, che dovrebbe pur essere assai antico".[76] In this monastery I found a great number of parchment codices ... there are some which seemed to be written before the seventh century, and especially a Bible (made) of beautiful, very large, thin and square parchments, written in round and very beautiful letters; moreover there are also in the church a Greek Evangelistarium in gold and round letters, it should be very old. The "Bible on beautiful vellum" is probably the Codex Sinaiticus, and the gold evangelistarium is likely Lectionary 300 on the Gregory-Aland list.[77] Tischendorf in 1870 In 1844, during his first visit to the Monastery of Saint Catherine, Leipzig archaeologist Constantin von Tischendorf claimed that he saw some leaves of parchment in a waste-basket. He said they were "rubbish which was to be destroyed by burning it in the ovens of the monastery",[78] although this is firmly denied by the Monastery. After examination he realized that they were part of the Septuagint, written in an early Greek uncial script. He retrieved from the basket 129 leaves in Greek which he identified as coming from a manuscript of the Septuagint. He asked if he might keep them, but at this point the attitude of the monks changed. They realized how valuable these old leaves were, and Tischendorf was permitted to take only one-third of the whole, i.e. 43 leaves. These leaves contained portions of 1 Chronicles, Jeremiah, Nehemiah, and Esther. After his return they were deposited in the Leipzig University Library, where they still remain. In 1846 Tischendorf published their contents, naming them the 'Codex Friderico-Augustanus' (in honor of Frederick Augustus).[79] Other portions of the same codex remained in the monastery, containing all of Isaiah and 1 and 4 Maccabees.[80] In 1845 Archimandrite Porfirij Uspenskij (1804–1885), at that time head of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem and subsequently Bishop of Chigirin, visited the monastery and the codex was shown to him, together with leaves which Tischendorf had not seen.[n 5] In 1846 Captain C. K. MacDonald visited Mount Sinai, saw the codex, and bought two codices (495 and 496) from the monastery.[81] The codex was presented to Alexander II of Russia In 1853 Tischendorf revisited the Monastery of Saint Catherine to get the remaining 86 folios, but without success. Returning in 1859, this time under the patronage of Tsar Alexander II of Russia, he was shown the Codex Sinaiticus. He would later claim to have found it discarded in a rubbish bin. (However, this story may have been a fabrication, or the manuscripts in question may have been unrelated to Codex Sinaiticus: Rev. J. Silvester Davies in 1863 quoted "a monk of Sinai who... stated that according to the librarian of the monastery the whole of Codex Sinaiticus had been in the library for many years and was marked in the ancient catalogues... Is it likely... that a manuscript known in the library catalogue would have been jettisoned in the rubbish basket." Indeed, it has been noted that the leaves were in "suspiciously good condition" for something found in the trash.[n 6]) Tischendorf had been sent to search for manuscripts by Russia's Tsar Alexander II, who was convinced there were still manuscripts to be found at the Sinai monastery. The text of this part of the codex was published by Tischendorf in 1862: -

No not for me Doc..as I said I believe in God or what ever name a person wants to put to him The sad thing I find is the lack of insite humans have...as far as Muslims and the Koran.... the terrorists took the Koran and corrupted it's meanings.... jihad is a power play...as the Christian holy wars were and the Salem witch hunts ...look through out history and the belief in God...How many wars and ethnic"cleansing " have happened in the name of God...but that's not so...it was in the name of MAN made religious doctrine that these things happened -

I believe in God...good and evil...and I support others peoples belief in God..what ever they deem to call their higher spirit I DO NOT Believe in religion and religious doctrine for that is man made...it is and always has been humans way of controlling the masses...take a good look at history....God is not corruptible...but religious doctrine is -

Sorry but I'm not getting this...are you saying you don't believe in God? because this is the definition of Allah...http://www.wordiq.com/definition/Allah -
I really prefer not addressing any of your post BUT...The problem with the entire issue is they are really neither.... purely by design...They are a combination of both...not speculation fact ...Now I could go down a long history but I don't have the time so I will say from stored knowledge I have the "rifle " design was more than likely taken in part from xbows centuries ago...since If I recall cross bows were known in China around 600BC and blk powder rifles ...I think 17th century.. Now we can all argue where they do or don't belong...seeing their design clearly contains components of both...But the NY DEC should have made a definitive decision in the introduction of the weapon ...which they DID NOT and in not doing so is causing even more strife amongst hunters ...They have BUT should not be able to.... introduce them into a weapon season they had no intention of keeping them in ...then switch them to a different weapons season with out adhering to that seasons mandated requirements If I read what Mr Bubba said correctly this is exactly what they plan on doing...for them or against them... We should all as NYS hunters be looking at the DEC and asking WTH!!

apples....Old home steads...with in a mile or two of old home steads....Red oaks tend to be moist more acidic and whites less acidic and well drained....we live on a west facing hill...only reds here...our place alone has 200 of them....no whts but drive 3 miles to the other side of valley and on that hill...mostly wht oaks...go figure

Wondering if any one else took note of that as those bolts were zipping in

I'm glad we can agree on at least some of this....Pheeww we made it through that one with little to no bruises...

WNYBH...No I didn't miss spell..you really need to read that a bit slower..because I think you are maybe.... not sure...reading this with a assumption I'm saying they aren't bows...What I said was in the .. 3 factual outlined statements....in which the state even "temporarily " included them.... one would have to see they are treating them as something other than archery equipment...to which I later stated they are archery equipment. Now let me ask you...do you honestly think that the DEC is going to make it mandatory to have to take a archery course to use a xbow in archery season...after they already allowed it during gun season with out a course? how do you think they'll handle the uproar from that? If the manner of introduction of the compound into archery season is irrelevant.... than why is one so quick to jump on that band wagon as it being a reason xbows should be allowed in bow season....Now if memory serve.....hhhmm
-
WNYBH...now you can't say the above statement is 100% false..know matter what your personal feelings are...and taking just that little snip out of the whole post still doesn't allow for making the statement 100% false...I don't recall make such a statement to your observations..thank you Now if one were to go with your line of thinking and seeing ppl love to compare the introduction of compounds to that of xbows...Did NYS allow the use of compound bows in gun season with out a proper archery mandated course during a "trial" period?...They obviously considered compounds as archery equipment as well... I ask because personally I'm not up on what they did back then...I would hope one would not presume to say... hey that's "apples to oranges" at this late date...for obviously xbow supporters don't think so...they are the ones to bring it up all the time
-
Always deep in the woods...I like 2 set ups......bottom of a hill with water to my back a few hundred yards...they root on the ridge of hill and fly down...and on top of a hill...not far from edge with water at the bottom...they roost there and fly to low side and walk down or I catch the ones farther up the hill that fly down and walk by....they do like the early morning drink
-
I prune now...you have less chance of fungus spread...you want the "wounds" to dry over to prevent a lot of weeping from sap flow on warmer days...thus bringing in fungus...bacteria... flies...moths and such ....

So what your saying is the state allows Volunteer instructors to mandate State policy? Interesting.. Let me just run through this..bare with me.. 1. The STATE...introduced xbows into a reg .gun season and a late gun season..muzzle 2.The STATE did not mandate the required archery course for the use of a bow in NYS 3. The STATE did not mandate the required separate permit for the use of a bow in NYS Now having been a gun hunter for many years in this state before going to archery.... The state assumed I was in need of a 2day course and a certificate before being allowed the privilege of using a piece of archery equipment in NYS Now if one were to read this and throw out all the emotion involved...It would lead to a logical statement that NYS does not consider x bows to be a piece of archery equipment...thus not belonging in archery season Now I don't think they should have their cake and eat it too...they are archery equipment and any person wanting to use archery equipment in NYS should have to go through the same hoops I had to go through...all "emotions " aside it is a state law...period
