  1. I worked with a woman...God rest her soul...that did the same thing...her husband confirmed.... it worked for her...which I have no doubt...for another co-worker sat in the teachers lounge and was telling the male teachers how she was chased down the road by a buck on one of her walks....I saw the looks starting and tried to stop her...but she was clueless...then the grinning started....I later mentioned she may not want to tell that story again...and she asked why...to which I asked her u know...and she confirmed what I knew ...I said that's why and all the guys knew it....lol... wow did her face get red....But to your story....eeewwww in the freezer with their food....sorry not a thick enough freezer bag is made
  2. The rains not my friend right now...,,,,Never even got down to open camp....guys are on there own....shooting house is nearly done ...two stands to fix cameras up except one in to be replaced...trees to cut and scrapes to make....still have all pre season Dr and Dentist appointments...plus tomorrows tests results
  3. Here's a legal definition of a highway.....Now I know on most town single roads it's 30ft...because our town chewed up 3 wht pines that were 40 ft from center highway...I made them come out and measure...then gave them 2 options...replace or go to court and really pay...they replaced... WAC 468-34-110 Definition of terms. Unless otherwise stated, words and phrases used herein shall have the following meaning: (1) Highway - A general term denoting a street, road or public way for purposes of vehicular travel, including the entire area within the right of way.
  4. We had to go down to Ackleys in PA to get mine...but you can find used ones here once in awhile ...I got a remington and love it...good luck...also Brownings and Mossbergs have good bottom eject ...thumb safeties
  5. I believe it's the legal right of way to the town you have to be off....... which I think(look it up) is 30ft from the center of the road in either direction side to side
  6. OK...It's pretty clear.... the economy isn't as far in the dumpster as everyone says
  7. Well I have to say he has more personality and probably better manners than some old goats lurking here
  8. foo foo's...I have two made up for squirrel as well...I use blunts though
  9. Well I think I can actually stand still and watch the corn and sorghum grow!...sorghum heading out.... is now as tall as me in many places and the corn is well over my head 8-9 feet and about 20% of it is producing 3 ears a stalk...the deer are hitting it hard ...yanking the cobs and snapping the stalks in half...only thing i they are eating is the silk ...but immature ears are 7in. long and nicely packed with growing kernels The Mega plot looks great ...but they aren't eating the oats or trical/wheat...the clover is huge and I tasted it all ...rather sweet
  10. Eddie I'd have to put that camera down and do some rattling and calling...Great video!
  11. this is the biggest I've tagged...the biggest I've seen walked past me at 40yrds when I was hunting with a 45# recurve...couidn't take a shot...he made the buck in pic ...look like a 1 1/2 year old...the next biggest I shot last year and spent 2 days with the deer tracker recovery ppl...it started pouring as soon as they came to start tracking and rained 2 days
  12. Yes BJ...this time of year they are about the nastiest things going...he runs around doing this and making a urgent whining type noise,,,,sticks his muzzle under every doe that urinates and lip curls....every time anyone walks with in eye sight of him he turns his head and lets fly in his mouth...The UPS guy says he knows falls here..... when he drives bye...he can smell the billy.......But dang if he doesn't draw in the buck....kicked one out from under an apple tree just tonight12 yrds from the goat barn....and they have set up a bedding area at the end of the goats pasture....looks like crop circles in the sorghum...lol
  13. My billy goat....and right now he is stinking up a 1/4 mile area...use to be wht...now hes brown from nose to behind his shoulders....The buck just come in and hang around the pasture.....I use a buck rag and hang it from a tree....gather up fresh droppings for scrapes and because billys...urinate in their mouths constantly and stick their faces in the doe goats urine flow when they are in heat...I cut off part of his beard and hang that as well....fresh earth wafers on my hunting clothes as well
  14. The closer to the "end of season" the Amish buildings go on sale around here....don't understand that...winter is the time everyone wants their things under cover...who knows..... any ways watch out for the metal buildings...hunting camp down the road put one up...had a bunch of stuff in it and we had a heavy snow fall.....flattened the entire thing
  15. lets rewind this....."Your right Eddie thanks ......I have been and to no avail....getting down to the wire "..........
  16. one thing I can't stress enough....when cutting beech you have to drill and put down a stump root killer...Beech are a surface rooter and they sucker off those many feet of root BIG TIME after being cut....also you will want to leave some mature beech especially if you turkey hunt........ but deer love them too and ...on our place...when the oaks don't have much...the beech usually do and vise/versa...have fun and good luck
  17. Doc........ I'll tell ya...it was the lets lower the bow distance regulation that got this flared up....land owners are tired of getting stepped on when the quality of enjoying ones property comes into play...hunter or not Some times ppl just don't know when to leave good enough alone.....poke at a hornets nest and your bound to get stung
  18. if the canopy is higher up...you need to figure out the angle of the sun as it travels across the area....now that sounds simple enough BUT not...... for that angle changes and there is a big difference between spring and fall...that begs the question of are you planning spring/fall annuals...which would IMO be best to start with...or perennial planting?... What side of the plot are those trees in? more the sun side ...middle or toward the back....I'd start trimming the trees on the leading sun side to start...leave the Oaks until you get a better grasp of the area....PS buck wheat is always a great deer draw....thought of trying oats or annual clover /rye for now?
  19. I have two sets...one for very cold and one that I can layer under for warm to some what cold...the cold suit is a Cabela's brand I got on sale and it was still expensive years ago...best money EVER spent...I don't like bibs so I got pants with a "kidney warmer" waist band....Sat out in -13 degrees for 8 hours in a snow storm and was cozy....I had good boots on as well...the warmer weather suit is also Cabela's...but not as pleased with water proofing on that one
  20. That's what I thought...I have lifetime sportsman and the lifetime bow and all I get is just the one either or...not another doe tag for my life time bow
  21. I remembered where I saw this...duh...the DEC had sent me an e-mail....I'm on a E-mail list for notifications.....
  22. Well the subdivision one is under permits and licenses on the DEC web site and I'm still looking for the other about the deer...give me a moment.... NYS DEC Investigating Deer Mortality in Rockland County The NYS DEC is investigating reports of sick and dead deer in the Town of Clarkstown in Rockland County, NY. To diagnose the cause of mortality, tissue samples are being collected by the DEC's Wildlife Pathology Unit and sent to the Cornell University Animal Health Diagnostic Center for testing. While test results are pending, the DEC does not consider this as a human health issue at this time. DEC is requesting residents in the Rockland County area to refrain from approaching any sick deer or deer behaving abnormally, and to please report these animals to the DEC Regional Wildlife Office in New Paltz by calling (845) 256-3098.
  23. Good luck ...you have some fine deer country over there...
