I openly admit I have a serious amount of issues with the DEC. That out of the way, no one found anything glaringly wrong with that article? Especially in that particular area? That makes it official..really in print for everyone to see..no offense to the guy him self... what a smart son of a gun, but kiss the DEC back side and the word illegal goes out the window

Did I miss it? while estimating how many ppl didn't report there kills...I always do...I also always hang our deer on a pole in our hedge row..clearly visible by two different roads..nothing to hide...But I know for a Fact that there are guys around here and I'd bet a dollar to a doughnut...Also across the state that shoot deer.... don't report then go out to shoot a "Bigger" deer to report...Then hide them in barns garages and even idiot friends garages....Did the EC add these guys to their #'s?....Also every single hunter I know butchers their own deer...and not everyone taking a big buck goes out and has it mounted...what good are any of their #'s?

Wow....I now do not feel bad about how negative I am on these type of guys....I read all of this...and I'm not going back through ..but one of them clearly stated...You can't see the signs from INSIDE the property....That right there says it all....Who are they...to deem whether a property is "undeveloped"....sign or not...with QDM....and ppl wanting low impact hunting ...of their OWN land ...it could be a sanctuary...But here is some thing these guys haven't considered....A legal notice in a local news paper ...stating the owner and the land description with a clear statement of NO Hunting nor trespassing for ANY reason will result in prosecution..trumps his no sign mentality ....seriuosly...my detective brother ??? : So I see that my feeling all EO's should have to go to the SAME centralized school is justified..... for that stuff just wouldn't fly up here...for even if a property had a culvert pipe installed ...that's land improvement period. Had 4 gobbling this am before dawn right out side the window ...roosted in the maples...and one way out back...then I saw 4 big Toms and a few hens ...wondering around out in the woods....These two stopped infront of one of the cams

How true!!....right on top of the date info is one of the wood chucks holes...the biggest..actually looks like a yote den...any how...This may be why I haven't seen him on cam lately :-\ ...hhmmm...lol

6 cameras and 2 plot watchers....I know where they are half the day....besides....back tracked them in the snow ....three different flocks

One turkey season I was sitting in a ground blind I had brushed in....I was waiting for it to get light out and the usual mice and chip monks were scurrying over my legs ...when some thing didn't sound right...but it was too dark to really see well ..... so I brought my browning up and leaned it on the logs next to me.... and took the safety off...about then over the front of the blind popped 2 sets of pointed ears and 2 sets of beady eyes...I swung the gun so fast and shot it scared me!...For I had 2.... 20-25 # raccoons climbing into that little blind with me...I heard a little scream then silence...and it was still too dark to see where they were...so I sat...as it got light...I could see the 2 raccoons one 10ft away and the other nearly as far...dead as can be...One shot ...two raccoons...Mr B. called and said I heard you shoot...little early!? ...You get one ...I said yes a 50 pounder ...Then told him what happened

Spiker ...you've got to E mail your congressman and other NYS reps....I've had two.... not only E me back, but they have sent me 2 written letter in response to my concerns...the latest today.....this sending letters works both ways ya know

you can use ..Bracken....Cinnamon...and Ostrich fern...Ostrich I think being the most widely used fern for them.........

fiddle heads are the unfurrowed new shoots of particular woodland/wetland fern you cook them and eat them like asparagus...which is what they taste like...... Cardones are young springtime stems of the burdock plant....you parboil in to water baths ...then egg wash .....roll in bread crumbs and grated cheese and fry......

What I'm really looking forward to are fiddle heads and cardones....

Well that pic is what the leeks we've been eating for 40+ years looks like...Now wild onion looks like a skinny version of bunching onions or garlic...

Ahh leek and potato soup....leek greens instead of lettuce on sandwiches....leek and scrambled eggs....... sauteed leeks and deer chops...... I always dig a bunch extra and blanch then freeze them for winter it will be a while before we can dig any...10" of snow due to arrive tomorrow...Oh well they aren't going any where
