Just a little venting...
irish_redneck replied to Sogaard's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Not an individual going against the government, but an individual using their right to assembly and their right to freedom of speech , to then have the nation come together and use their right to bear arms. -

If you're good enough to carry somewhere, you should be good enough to carry anywhere. All a "No weapons allowed" sign says is "hey criminal, we're sitting ducks in here" -

RE: Waco , We're not talking about a small group of people over throwing the governement or ceceding, we're talking about the ability for national revolution. I'm sure the English took out numerous small groups before the nation got their act together. -

You're perfectly correct, we've already let the powers that be strip our rights to protection below an acceptable level, letting them strip them further is not the answer. I agree that felons should be looked at more closely, but again, you're providing an avenue for the governement to sidestep the rules. Drug Addicts, again would have to look at this closely and define which drugs etc, because caffiene is technically a drug etc. Mental instability, would have to come up with guidelines for impartial public non govenmental testing of this. No Idea how to use? That's where the well regulated (training) comes in to play. -

The training part of the 2a should be upheld though, which is the direct meaning of "well regulated" at the time. -

That's how it was at the time it was enacted, and that was its intention, so yes. You can't stop an oppressive government with a slingshot.\ edit : s/ it's/its -

Some of your ideas are ok in theory, but go completely against the purpose of the second amendment. You're giving the control as to whether or not you can be armed , to the group that the second amendment was instituted to protect you against. In effect becoming subjects rather than citizens. -
Are you FOR or AGAINST a change?

Mental health evaluations are ok I guess, but I'd be concerned as to whether the person giving the assessment was impartial. Also, mental state is a thing that can fluctuate.... -

The second amendment isn't about hunting or target shooting, it's about empowering the people to be able to defend themselves and hold back a government that is trying to oppress them. On that basis, civilians should be able to have any arms that the government has. That's the way it was when the decision was enacted, that's how it should be now. You can't stop an army armed with m16's, if all you have is a single shot. -
I have had jerky from the deerman, it was great. A friend drives his deer there from oneida... if that says anything.

My computer runs just fine from the battery via inverter when vehicle isn't running. If that is the case they need brighter techs. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2

What always gets me is when someone uses their benefit card for their groceries, and then their cash for lottery tickets or beer.

I gotcha, just saying that it states in the description this thread is for discussion of ANYTHING, and "Anything" includes political discussion, or deer hunting, or bow hunting etc etc etc Maybe if it said "For anything other than topics for which another forum exists" my point would be void, but it doesn't \ And I'm not talking about whether someone got pissy about it or not, I'm just talking about whether the discussion belonged here based on the forum description. The media is saying that this kid planned this out, and that he was a genius. He didn't just pick up these guns and head over there. He planned and strategised. I feel that had guns not been an option, he would have just plannned a different method.

Didn't say anything too inflamitory at this point. -
And your argument ignores the fact that when you remove one tool , another one steps up to take its place

I just went to the Post office, there was a Sherriff vehicle there before I got there. It was sitting in the parking lot and had been left running, whether or not it was locked I cannot say, but that leads to an interesting second thought. Anyhow, I go inside and there is a sherriff inside reading a paper. I get my mail from the mailbox, I go next door and order my food, they cook it and I take it to go. I get back in my vehicle and see that it is still there. Running this whole time, lord knows how long it was there before I got there or how long after I left. My point is that we as taxpayers pay for the fuel being wasted, and it is also an unnecessary contribution to global warming and now I come to think of it wear and tear on the motor also.... This is not the first time I have seen this happen, I have seen it from various departments in various areas. You know these people wouldn't leave their own vehicle running, so why do they do this with ones that we as taxpayers provide.

Gotta say, I just noticed something : "This is a place to talk about anything... General Chit Chat" I think that needs re-wording, otherwise the moving of a post out of here for not being in the correct place is kinda asinine

Last I knew a shotgun was a multipurpose firearm, as is a semi-auto rifle. Same as a kitchen knife can be used for slicing meat , or slicing throats.
