  1. Congrats to all those with harvests! I just had a group of 5 doe come by, passed on them, I usually hold off for a buck the first few days of the season.
  2. Sounds like she's in heat bringing on the buck parade. Good Luck!
  3. Well no more deer after that doe today but turkeys roosting around me again about 75 yds away...this one flew up about 40 yds from my tree
  4. And now a flock of hens ... I've seen more turkeys over the last 2 days than I have in the last 4 or 5 spring turkey seasons combined
  5. Pretty quiet as far as deer, nothing since this doe at 10:50 but just had a nice flock of 6 long beards come through.
  6. I keep my old spare truck mats on top of my hunting box lid and use those if I have to change by the truck
  7. I was hoping so too, but she doesn't seem to be a popular girl so far ... LOL
  8. Had a spike harassing a doe at about 735, nothing since. Now just had a lone doe come through and is bedded down about 75 yds away. No buck trailing her so far.
  9. Turkeys flying down from their roost now...always so cool to see
  10. 1 deer already walked through in the predawn darkness and now the turkeys that roosted about 100 yds from me last night are starting to wake up with a little turkey talk. Hopefully today's the day for one of the big boys, prob my last sit for bow season...back to work tomorrow.
  11. Somehow with the bitter cold yesterday I pulled an all day sit. Altogether saw 10 deer with 4 of them being small bucks although one of those 4 could have been the same 6pt AM & PM. Back at it today, packed in for an all day sit. Hopefully be of the big boys is in the area today. Good luck all!
  12. I knew it was going to be a loud crunchy walk to the stand so in extra early to hopefully not spook anything off in the distance heading this way...in stand by 5:20...now the trick will be staying warm for an all early sit, but hopefully it won't be needed. Going to be a beautiful day in the deer woods...Good Luck all!
  13. Well I'm out, it is cold and windy. Went to my ladder in between a creek and a set of pines ... figured deer would be bedded in pines sheltered from wind...jumped a 6pt, spike, and doe bedded at edge of pines about 70 yrds from my ladder stand. Hopefully some big boys are bedded further into pines and come out to play
  14. Well after that buck came through grunting in the dark and another deer passed behind me in the dark while waiting for daylight to start an all day sit, I finally saw my first deer at 10:15. A borderline shooter 8Pt that i decided to let pass at 30 yds. Nothing since that so have been sitting in the tree thinking that I'll prob regret that decision. But now just had a shooter buck bird dogging through on a mission out of range, 75 yds. Not a huge buck but a nice shooter 8Pt to me. Was oblivious to bleats and grunts I threw at him hoping to pull him in just continuing on his way. So they are up on their feet.
  15. If the wind is right for the converging ridges I'd go with that one maybe catch some bucks cruising for ladies ... Good Luck
  16. Well back in the same tree as yesterday...in nice and early and I can hear chasing and a buck grunting in the darkness already...come on daylight!
  17. So did an all day sit today, action was slow with a few sightings ... until time to leave then all hell broke loose and I was stuck in the tree until it was pitch black so not to spook him out of the area. As I was packing my stuff up to get out of the tree I hear chasing in the distance coming my way. All of a sudden a doe runs towards my stand chased by one of the big boys. She circles my tree at about 10 yds and in he comes. I can hear him walking snapping sticks and he comes in to less than 10 yds. He's standing there as the doe continued slowly circling my tree. After a few minutes he slowly walks angling towards the doe as it's getting darker. Now he's about 30 yds from my tree as it's getting darker. Now it's darker so I can't see him anymore but I can hear him rubbing a tree. Then I hear another deer coming from behind me. The commotion attracted another deer which ended up coming right up to my tree. I can make out its shape in the darkness but can't tell if it's a buck or a doe, although I thought I heard antlers brushing up against branches when it was walking through some thick brush beside my tree. The first buck started approaching him and I thought I was going to hear a buck fight but the second one started walking away. Meanwhile the doe wandered off in the other direction. Then the first buck wandered off in the direction the doe headed. By the time they all finally left and I could climb down it was 5:25. Hopefully they'll be back tomorrow during legal time!
  18. Good luck Grow! Looking forward to the pic of him!
  19. Just passed on this small buck, passed by me at less than 10 yds. Hoping one of the big boys do the same thing
  20. Must be chasing pretty hard at night, of the 3 deer I've seen today 2 are already bedded down. Had a small buck walk through and jumped a doe that was bedded down and she bolted away. He went over and sniffed her bed for awhile then walked off. Never knew she was there, must have walked in and bedded down while it was still dark. Now just had a big bodied deer moving through some thick stuff about 90 yds away and bedded down...can't tell if that one's a buck or a doe yet.
  21. Yes they're moving. Had s small buck cross behind me at about 7:50. Nothing since until I just saw my first shooter of the season. Walked nose to the ground on a mission about 75 yds away. No response to beats or grunts but nice to finally see one of the big boys
