  1. That's funny I was thinking the same thing with this cloud cover today
  2. Just had a 4pt and a 6pt come through which got the bedded doe up
  3. Had a deer walk right by my tree before legal time, about 7:10, could make out the deer's outline but couldn't tell if it was a buck or doe. Saw a lone doe or BB at about 8:15 up by the pond. Then about an hour ago had this little doe come in and bed down 15 yds from my tree...she's still laying here now. Had a little 4pt cruise through about half an hour ago and paid no attention to the bedded doe, passing by about 15 yds from her. Just saw another small buck, possibly same small buck walking by the pond about 10 minutes ago...no big boys yet
  4. Was planning to get down at 11...Passed on this little guy, came by at 1055. Watched him make a scrape about 20yds from my stand and rub a tree.
  5. Passed on this 6pt so far...hung around me for about 15 minutes circling around me looking for my scent canisters...
  6. Feels so good to be on stand again ... Good Luck all! Hunt safe, hunt ethically, hunt hard and have fun!
  7. Cool pics of a fisher. I've been hearing of sightings in Wayne County too although I haven't seen any yet.
  8. My first year hunting, third or fourth time out, I'm sitting on the ground in a home made blind up against a pine tree with a whole bunch of pine branches and brush piled up in a semi circle front of me. I had an 8 point buck, first buck I've ever seen while hunting, walk out of the brushy ravine about 60 yards in front of me. He's walking directly at me so I can't move, can't raise my bow, and can't draw. He finally gets about 8 YARDS away and turns broadside following a deer run. So now I pull up the bow and try to draw, I'm shaking so bad that as hard as I'm trying to pull back the bow, all I'm doing is shaking and the string is not budging. After about 5 seconds of that, the buck sees me and bounds back towards the ravine. Well, as he's bounding away the string comes back and all I can see through my peep is a bounding tail and then he's gone in a flash...No shot but a great encounter! That was back in 1983 but I can still see him in my mind and remember it like it happened yesterday!
  9. Nybuckboy, yeah he was definitely towing the kayak for a bit and then tried burying himself down in the weeds; was a good fight. On the release it took him a few minutes holding him by the kayak for him to regain himself but then he was released in good shape.
  10. My new personal best Northern Pike caught on 8/27/17, and on a kayak! He hit hard on a SpinnerBait ripping through weeds! Scale showed him at 11 pounds but he probably weighed a little more because while sitting in kayaks weighing him, holding him up as high as we could reach, his tail was still in the water.
  11. Sorry BIZ, I'm as computer illiterate as they come, I don't know any other way to post the vids and not sure about IPhone...Sorry!
  12. Looks to be a 9 pt with a 10th pt just starting to protrude. Pic from 7/23 so prob will be a 10 by the time his antlers are hardened. 2nd video has him pretty much walking right up to the cam! 07230005.AVI 07230004.AVI EK000002.AVI EK000006.AVI
  13. Hey, just wanted to pass on info about a good Berkley PowerWorm deal. For those that like fishing plastic worms I just ran into a good deal at Dick's Sporting Goods. Berkley PowerWorms normally $4.99 a pack now on sale 4 packs for $10. Then, if you buy 4 packs, Berkley has a $10 rebate. Actually a pretty good deal without the rebate but throw in the rebate and it's a GREAT deal, so I basically got 4 packs of PowerWorms for free! I've been slaying them with a Texas rigged PowerWorm this summer. So far I've done catch and release on all of them but I've been craving some largemouth so I'm prob going to be keeping a couple soon ... LOL. Here's a couple pics and so far my biggest bass of the summer was 4.17 Pounds. Good luck out there!
  14. Thanks for the info Grow and CabinFever. Yeah Grow, haven't been on very much over the past several months, been dealing with a family situation but should be on a little more consistently now, especially with the season approaching. Don't know why they didn't open for you. I'm able to open them up on my end. What's the best way to attach Trail Cam videos?
  15. Today's card pull finally showed some nice bucks! 07130001.AVI 07130002.AVI 07130003.AVI
  16. The latest that I've seen a buck holding onto his antlers was April 12th and he was a really decent 10 pointer.
  17. Hunting is referred to by many as an outdoor sport, including the DEC but to me I consider hunting more of a passionate outdoor activity, another avenue that satisfies my passion and love for being in the outdoors, being in tune with nature on all levels...the scenery, the animals, the adrenaline rush and thrills such as the chance of seeing and hearing a buck grunting following a hot doe, seeing that gobbler strutting in display while stretching his neck out gobbling, hearing a grouse drumming on a log, listening to a pack of coyotes breaking the dark night silence with their howling songs, and yes...the harvest from the preparation to the shot to the delicious meal on the table from the game. Although hunting is my favorite passion, aside from spending precious time with my family, I still consider it an outdoor activity like wildlife photography, hiking, camping, and other outdoor activities that I partake in to keep me in tune with the outdoors, to satisfy that hunger and passion to be outdoors. I actually went for a hike this morning and even though I wasn't hunting, I felt the same passion and satisfaction while walking around with a camera...to me it is a loved outdoor activity. In fact here's a couple pics from todays hike...Wooly will like this one, it shows a buck that has shed it's antlers. Time to get out there and look for some sheds...another outdoor activity that I love!
  18. Yeah Doewhacker I checked there as well and did some quick google searches coming up empty too. Thanks for checking though!
  19. Grow, I've done this at times when I've been out on hikes with my camera when I've stumbled onto birds and try clucking or yelping with my mouth to get pictures of them. It seems like I can get their attention when I use my mouth but not natural enough sounding to get them to really respond to it. Although that would be a convenient and cool skill to have.
  20. When turkey hunting I carry a variety of calls from pot calls (slate and glass), a box call, and diaphragm calls but in reality I'm not very confident in my use of the diaphragm. So my general tactic is that I use my pot calls to work birds into my set up while keeping the diaphragm tucked into my cheek; so if a bird hangs up while coming in and I can't use my pot call fearing he'll see the movement, I'll use the diaphragm for a cluck or a purr. But I'd like to get better and more confident in using a diaphragm for yelping , cutting, kee-keeing, plus get better at my clucks and purrs with it. I've watched YouTube videos and other things on line but really need something more along the lines of a seminar with an instructor to give some feedback and instruction. Is anybody aware of any seminars coming up near the Rochester area teaching how to use a diaphragm call?
