I had this odd racked 5pt show up last year and I saw him a few times during the season. He showed up on cams again this year...I have video of him from this year posted in the trail cam section. He's still an odd 5 pointer but wider.

Wow, an amazing group of bucks!

Thanks for all the replies. Larry if you don't mind me asking, with the plug in, how did you take in the water, so I don't make the same mistake as a first time boat owner.

I'm in the market for a fish & ski boat and have never owned a boat before. I have it narrowed down to two that I'm interested in, a Glastron GTSF185 or a Chaparral 18H2O. Does anybody with more boat knowledge than me prefer quality one over the other and why? Thanks for any input!

I filled my 2nd tag on Saturday morning, again no gobbling and a Jake that came in quietly to a few series of combinations of clucks, cuts, yelps, & purrs. Only heard one gobble all season when out for the youth hunt. All birds that I've called in came in quietly this season.

Tagged out yesterday on a Jake at 6:15. Was set up where I wanted to be by 4:40 and again no gobbling heard at all. Then, he came in quietly to a combination of some yelps, cuts, and clucking. No gobbling to alert me that he was coming but everything was so dry I heard him approaching from the crunchy leaves until I saw his bright red head bobbing around looking for the hen he was hearing. Came into about 35 yards before he presented a good shot. Been a quiet season as far as gobbling activity but I ended up tagging out for the season after a two year slump. Good luck to all still out there!

Yeah, I agree populations are on the downward cycle but I know there are still gobblers around and they're being tight lipped. With the declining populations are they gobbling less because there's less competition to breed, so basically don't have to show off or work so much for the ladies? I've only heard one gobble this season so far and called in 4 birds that all came in quietly. During the youth hunt we heard one gobble probably about 150 yards from where we set up, a jake that then came in quietly to about 35 yds but my little cousin couldn't get a shot. Called in a Tom that never gobbled last Thursday, got into about 30 yards but couldn't get a shot. Then later I called in two jakes that never gobbled either, they came in quietly and I shot one of the jakes. I hope they start getting loose lipped, love hearing them gobbles crank out through the woods!

It seems for the most part, the general consensus is that gobbling activity this year has been drastically down from the norm; which I'm observing in the woods as well. Any thoughts from anybody as to why?

Finally broke my 2 year slump this morning at 9:15 on a Jake. Called in a Tom that came in quietly but couldn't get a shot. Then about half an hour later I called in two Jakes and blasted one of them. They came in quiet too, didn't hear a single gobble today. Season's been real quiet as far as gobbles this year. Heard one gobble when I had my little cousin out on the youth hunt and not a single gobble during the regular season so far.

Congrats on a beautiful buck!

Ants you didn't miss a thing. I got soaked until about 1045, didn't see or hear a turkey, although I did call in a coyote looking for a turkey dinner. He came in quick and about turned inside out when I tried to get a pic of him. He caught me trying to get the camera out of my coat pocket.

LOL...Yeah, my wife laughs at me while we lay by the pool as I read "Live from the woods" posts. Some rum & cokes, strawberry daquireies, and bikinis do make missing turkey hunting a little bit easier!

Haven't been out since 5/17 between work and then being on Vacation with my wife in St Marteen since 5/22. Will be back home tomorrow night and should be home from the airport by about 1:00 AM and am planning to be out the final morning of the season. Hopefully they will be active. I worked one that last weekend I was out but he didn't come in close enough for a shot...hopefully one will still be in the area and looking for love.

Doc, they are funny when their curiosity gets the best of them. She came into less than 10 yds of me slowly stepping and looking for the hen she had heard. Seems like deer and turkey do travel amongst eachother sometimes
-
Short hunt before work this morning. No turkey talk or sightings yet but had this curious doe practically walk into my lap. About another hour and have to head in to get ready for work.

Wooly, Amazing as usual! Great pics!
