Nobody else has a guess?

Only way to tell is to have 'em sawed. She's an old one, 8.5 or older after a quick look?? Show the DEC, they'd like to see her.

Me? Nahhh......

I’ve been gathering my least bulky cold weather gear the past 45 minutes. Tried a few different combos and I think I’m pretty good. Two pair long underwear tops (Patagonia then Minus 33) then a Patagonia R4 jacket, next up is a huge Stormy Kromer wool vest, all topped off with the KOM wool sweatshirt I practically live in for hunting. A Smartwool/Ulfrote full face pullover topped with a heavy camo knit hat. Lower level is another Smartwool/Ulfrote piece that is super heavy knit then the KOM pants. Handwarmers and toe warmers for the hands and feet should round it out. Oh and heavy pack boots. I have a pair of fingerless knit Jersey gloves for the hands too. I tried all the upper level stuff on and shot the bow better than anytime this year in the basement. Go figure....... I think I’m ready.

In the woods...........also.

Here are the dimensions of the SE stand....... "Original Screaming Eagle Stand: ($151.95-$144.95) A tree stand must be...SAFE, STABLE, STRONG and QUIET! We will personally guarantee you that no tree stand made is safer, more stable, stronger or quieter. SAFE: If your stand fails you, you could die or be paralyzed. STABLE: If your stand moves, you could miss your shot, and/or lose your balance and fall. STRONG: Our stand is the stongest stand in the world. Try hanging a car from any other. Note that our stand has no human weight limit. QUIET: For that Boone and Crockett Whitetail, this is the critical factor. If the stand squeaks or creaks when you move to shoot, it's all over. Our stand is totally quiet...ALWAYS!! Specifications: Weight: 14 pounds. Seat height: 25". Platform is 25" wide and 24" deep. Welded, unpainted steel. Five feet of chain is included along with installation instructions." Some of the stands mentioned seem nice. I need that 25" seat height and am surely used to the platform size size. Also, the seat and platform fold up (and stay!) while your gone, leaving a somewhat small footprint for wannabee robbers. I appreciate all the responses but I think I'll probably just place an order at some point. I don't know how many I'd take but probably 4.....there is a price break on orders over 6 and IIRC it brings the price down (the stand with the bigger seat, and yes they are nice sized) to around $120 each. I'm waiting to hear on what the shipping would be.

Tough deal John but work (GULP) comes first. Good for you on holding up your end of the bargain! Funny thing though, I wanted to quit my job today when the sun came up; no wind and a heavy frost. The leaves were raining straight down around the trees at work. What I wouldn't do to have been a tree stand at dawn today. Heartbreaking...............

Luck to you!!

99 percent of my hang on tree stand experience has been with Screeming Eagle hang on stands. I’ve been thrilled with them and am pondering an order. At this point they wouldn’t be for this season but would order while I’m thinking about it. What is your go-to hang on stand?

WAIT.........Don’t you see the sign? Relax for a bit, do your conference call THEN hunt 9:30-2:30. Trust me!
-
I still can't help you...... BUT, I know two guys well that have killed plenty of deer the last 7-8 years with Rage heads and one of those guys is the one who swayed me to give them a try. Lots of DMAP deer have fallen to Rage heads and I trust their judgement.
-
Thanks all.......good deal, heck, I can't kill one.
-
LOL
-
So maybe I missed it (not surprising) but can you kill two bucks on Long Island or other places in the state?
-
It's painful for many who are Believers.

Generally, even when a biologist has a jaw in his hand from a deer older than 3.5 he has a difficult time giving an accurate age. Sure, they can make an educated assumption and give you a "window" of years. That is at least MY experience in taking a fair amount of jaws to the DEC in Buffalo over the past 20+ years. That said, I'd say your pictured buck is 3.5 years or older............

Nice job you big softie..........

Two years ago today......

Nice but I never heard of it. Sefie time?

My buddy (deceased now) used to say “I have 3” of clothes and 2” of dick” when hunting in his cold weather gear.
