  1. I don't think the gun season should be shortened. I'm not sure anyone said that, just that if you're going to compare the crossbow use in Ohio, that you also need to mention how their firearm season lines up with it. I do think that adding an extra week to an already lengthy gun season is unnecessary and while I understand that it's my choice to hunt or not, there is something nice about just knowing it's done and I can spend it with my family and not have any guilt about that big buck i saw during daylight on 12/19...
  2. I'd like this except for ARs, but NY doesn't really want to be a big buck state, NY want's to decrease our existing deer population to appease the insurance companies and the Karen's of the world complaining about their shrubs being eaten.
  3. and if you go to AT, you'll see these aren't all they're cracked up to be. None the less, the archer still needs to draw and hold at a range typically under 40 yards. This is not the case for the crossbow. Adding electronic self adjusting optics/scopes to crossbows really start to push the limits of calling them "archery equipment" don't you think?
  4. you're missing the point. it's not the look, it's the self adjusting optic.
  5. also Ohio has a week long gun season. Don't compare apples to oranges, whereas here in NY we're looking to extend one the nations longest. 2020 Deer-Gun Season Dates Youth weekend: Saturday, Nov. 21 and Sunday, Nov. 22. This weekend is open to hunters with a youth hunting license and deer permit. Deer-gun week: Monday, Nov. 30 to Sunday, Dec. 6. •Bonus weekend: Saturday, Dec. 19 and Sunday, Dec. 20.
  6. Did some post season scouting yesterday on the new property I hunted. Got a much better feel for some of the sections. Subscribed to On-X to help me get a better plan for next year too and found some more treestands I didn't know about. Brought the .22 in case some fuzzy tails showed up and almost got a shot at a rabbit but he was not in the mood for becoming dinner. Even though it had only been a 10 days, it felt good to get back in the woods again.
  7. seems he's still hunting quite a bit
  8. I feel icky even thinking about these, but their benefits are undeniable. I'm wondering if these go on sale in the off season or if it doesn't matter? I like the idea of the spypoint with the solar but not sure how effective it'd be in the timber. Also recommendations? Looking for probably 4 to 6.
  9. gotcha, now I don't feel so dumb. I live off five mile, just south of ridge. You me and moog are practically neighbors.
  10. say what you want, but putting lotion on my dry as hell and wind burned face and elbow and hands... glorious. haha
  11. this happened to me with my cva on the very last day at the last hour last season on a doe. It was just enough of a delay, that like you my flinch totally through off the shot at bow range. I tape the end of my barrel, but hunted the day before in the rain and that's all I can chaulk it up to because I've put 3 shots down range since with the same powder and primers without issue. I think if I ever mz hunt in rain or damp conditions in the future I'm changing the powder out. Just not worth it.
  12. haha awesome job Bob! Nothing like a last minute freezer topper!
  13. oh no shit? Why have I always thought you were in webster? my bad.
  14. that's a good point too, with regards to understanding wives. Keep up on your shit at home and don't give them something. Heck, do this anyhow, men
  15. neither has mine, she's super supportive. But it's still nice to show appreciation.
  16. nothing wrong with that at all, personally I like that we share many interests and a few separate ones. If I didn't have my "woods break" I might be on the evening news haha.
  17. Remember it’s been a long few months and even longer if you include prep. Even if your wife is super supportive like mine, go get her some flowers or something nice. They put up with us being gone, processing messes and a lot of bitching. Get her something even nicer if you have kids. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  19. Anyone unload their mz with a rod instead of a shot to avoid cleaning? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. I was just thinking about this yesterday. My truck is a pile of crap. I keeps stuff pretty OCD but this time a year the weather varies so much that I have snow camo, blind camo, regular cold weather camo. In the off season I keep turkey and yote stuff separate and also scent lock in a scent lock bag and a sole bin for hats and gloves. Then all the camo gets sorted by season in totes with labels. I bought these on prime day a few years back for $100. They're the same bin that scentlock sells with a weak ass piece of carbon filter for like twice the price. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00J5DZNHS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  21. Tonight I hunted the stand on the east side of the orchard only to see 7 deer, 2 shooter doe and possibly a buck on the west side near my blind that I was blanked in last night. That’s been my gun season, sigh. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
