  1. I believe the article. The waiver is for insurance, litigation and comp purposes. Trust me, this is my field. If you get sick or injured from your job you have a right to benefits and even potential lawsuits (you've all seen the commercials). NY is one of the toughest states as well. This is their way of saying we're not at fault if you get sick during employment and honestly I think it's a fair deal.
  2. I understand if you don't want to say who the company is, but what industry? All of my legal team has been pretty clear that it's illegal to force a vaccine and even in high risk jobs like first responders where we offer hep-B, they always have the right to sign a declaration to decline it.
  3. thanks, I'm still not sure if I'm going down this path, just that the price isn't too bad. Luckily for me I buy what I want
  4. this one? https://www.midwayusa.com/product/102288033?pid=882357
  5. that thing is tempting for $450... I have a brand new Vortex PST II 1-6 that was a lot more expensive then that and it's not IR. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1020830235?pid=618494
  6. there's what, a dozen states where it's legal now? Including neighboring Mass and NJ. The models exist and both of those blue states weren't losing anything politically either.
  7. I would just as well not drink then to drink empty carb non-alcoholic. Don't get it tbh.
  8. I'm starting to get the itch. first year with the .223. still need to mount the new scope and have some new property to test out.
  9. I had my first turkey dream last night which is not a good sign considering the nearly 5 months we have to go. I had a nice tom come in at like 5 yards and of course no matter how hard I tried my gun wouldn't fire. At first I couldn't find the trigger, then when I did it required too much effort to pull and go boom. Finally I get up and the tom doesn't spook 5 yards from me and I blast one at him hip fire style. Suddenly I realize my son is with me and he's concerned that the tom is still alive so I have to pull out my knife and try and dispatch the wounded bird. I stab a few times in the neck to no avail and finally end up sawing away at the neck. He's still alive with just windpipe attached at this point so I cut that too and the head falls off. My son's first question is how am I going to take pics with a turkey and no head. haha anyhow, this was mostly a good read and thanks to those that shared insight and to those who seemed more interested in picking a fight... why?
  10. the good stuff with some thc is pretty easy to get in NY, there are dozens of doctors near any of the major cities who will write you a script for a tincture or vape. I found the combo was better than just cbd. Now of course our lying governor said he was going to legalize it when seeing he might get challenged for his seat by someone who would, and then he didn't because he's a pompous f'n liar. and now his head is the size of Australia so he probably thinks he's untouchable. but yeah.
  11. I'm not a heavy drinker, but for sure have drank more volume and more frequently during this shit. Winter is tough as is to stay entertained, and with this lockdown shit it's hard not to pour a glass of wine or 2 at the end of the day.
  12. we just got a new expedition with a turbo 6 in it and I have to say that thing impressed me. It even sounds meaner than the 6.0 v8 in my silverado haha, but that's most likely a muffler deal.
  13. yeah i know that's what my boss said when we were chatting about it. I'm not in favor of it, but it's interesting food for thought. And in some ways, the smokers surcharge for insurance is helping to combat that so we're on our way there in a way. I do feel like this is a little different too. Like here's a shot to prevent you from possibly dying. Versus battling a lifelong addiction that may have started at 15.
  14. you and I may not always agree, but I do respect the work you put in
  15. i was agreeing with you though and said as much. I also stated that I don't really feel that way, and I also share the same concerns you have and I'm a high risk individual who hasn't run out and signed up for a shot yet. For discussion purposes though, a vaccine is a form of medical treatment and I like I said, I agree with choice but it's also sort of like "oh shit, I didn't listen and now I need your help" that kind of raises an eyebrow too, no?
  16. I guess my point was around the fact that in Rochester we're at capacity and at some point there may come a time where a car crash victim doesn't have a bed because someone refused the vaccine.
  17. I think you're newer here, so I'd offer some advice and suggest you not engage with Stormy. It's not worth it and will only lead to him sitting outside your house in his car spying on you and your family.
  18. when engaging in a battle of wits and arguing your scientific opinion is better than another's, it's best not to spell and sound like an idiot. -proud member of the team
  19. I feel it's a choice as well. The cold hearted bastard in me also feels like you shouldn't get a ventilator if offered the vaccine and refusing it. i don't really feel that way, but it's an interesting theory
  20. if someone bought a crossbow or is planning to make money selling their venison off this proposal then i don't know what to say to that. Reading seems so complicated for people these days. They see a facebook vaccine meme and just accept it as truth without doing their own research and it's freaking scary that these people exist. You want to do your own research and come to a conclusion, fine... but man to just accept shit as fact...
  21. I have to call BS on a bunch of this. Shotgun areas were created due to safety and recently many of these areas have been opened back up to rifle as a result of studies and yes the fact that shotguns can shoot pretty far. ML season is rather new and while the weapon has advanced quite a bit they were never thinking bp and round ball. The tech was already there when this season started. They were not thinking stick and recurve with archery season and if anything they've opened up more archery areas by recently decreasing the setback distance from 500 to 150 even as new tech "pushes the limit". And even if they thought a bunch of indians would be out in loin cloths with self made bows, you're going from an effective range of 20 to maybe 40-50??? come on.
  22. because us archers also opposed it. Remember there are groups who oppose this and worked and wrote letters to our elected officials too. While some groups wanted it, others didn't and as much as it pains me to say it, you could look at this as a win for democracy whereas if the DEC gets their way we lose any small chance at all of opposing their decisions and they just get to decide it all without vote and without input.
  23. bingo. also consider that the majority of pitman robertson (i dont recall the numbers specifically) comes from ammo and guns and not the single box of .30-06 a hunter buys every 5 years, but from sport and target shooters that don't always see the benefits even though pitman robertson has been and can be used by states to build public ranges. Most recently it's too hot so they do other projects instead.
  24. it's up for vote in some western states with the understanding that it has a snowballs chance in hell to pass. However, bino's do get taxed so there's some benefit there. Also a few states have park use permits that many hikers, bikers and watchers purchase. The best idea i've heard was to include the "backpack tax" as they call it, but to separate out the 2 funds. The backpack tax would go to hiking trails and resources that are used by both, but would not go to resources that support hunting. I feel that's a good compromise and probably the only way to get it to pass.
