  1. stay safe, hope you better soon Larry Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. At about 3 5 pumpkins came out of the woods into the field 2 properties over. I swear mz season used to be pretty low key and honestly it doesn’t feel much different from regular season. I guess that’s kind of a bitch, but was mostly meant as an observation. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. It’s funny how similar most of our spots look, I’m in a similar spot and now looking around for you haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. High shot sounds like a tree stand hunter who only practices from the ground, if at all and isn’t accounting for angle. BB might be a 20 gauge or .223? Both capable, especially on a small deer but not ideal at distance? Able to salvage any of the meat? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Last morning sit of the year! Downright tropical in 8F Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Feels like a waste of time in the blind tonight but I’m watching red zone with one ear bud in, which is what I’d be doing on the couch so whatever I guess haha. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. If there’s grass on the field though Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Bailed yesterday morning after seeing single digits. Out this am in 8F in a stand that’s had a long break but all tracks are in the orchard. Will probably do a pm sit there, light snow and breezy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Probably that damn Marques! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. PS what you did is still awesome. Happy holidays all and good luck to everyone still putting boots on the ground!
  11. I mean do you not agree that having to draw while uncovered and on the ground is substantially more difficult?
  12. congrats on the recovery... man a knife kill. I hope I never have to do that. Done a few gun finishers though.
  13. I've seen what comes out. I have no desire to eat them fully loaded nvm edit. just saw the post that it was targeted, but otherwise I'm with you here.
  14. was a cold one this am. had a doe with 3 little ones come in on high alert, I was downwind of them. took my hands out of my muff to grab the gun on my lap and they stopped. never looked at me, never blew or stomped but caught enough movement and they're spooky enough that is all it took. had the gun up on the doe as she was leaving and didn't like the shot. happy to get some action and looking forward to tonight.
  15. those 5 and even mountain lions are not in the same category as the furbearers which are generally not eaten.
  16. prices have been high for a while. Remember you can buy an "illegal" AR and ship to an FFL who can swap and pin the mag for under $100. Again, I'd say start cheap/small. What's so cool about the AR platform in my opinion is how easy it is to swap out and upgrade parts. And even then you might end up with more than 1.
  17. my guess they're 50+? that's a very antiquated thought process disproven time and time again by biologists. All that said, yes some areas have a low pop, but it's almost always better to shoot a doe than it is a small buck.
  18. i find it less complicated than others. Doe are always open season and don't shoot bb's or yearling bucks. Some may take it further and limit no does during the rut or restrict even 2.5's but I think just limiting yearling bucks will allow meat hunters and trophy hunters to be happy so long as the doe pop is large and healthy.
  19. I've purchased 4 off gunbroker, but never used. 2 pistols and 2 rifles through 2 different FFLs. Always smooth, never an issue and good prices. Unfortunately I had them all together a few years ago on my boat when it sank, so I might follow the same system to recoup them.
  20. my best opportunities with late have been the first or last hour. That said, I've had a few magical days where the woods explode, often referred to as the "second rut", which is a debate in and of itself, but there is some truth that does that aren't bread in early November will go back into heat. To see it with snow on the ground is magical.
  21. for cold feet I rock these and even in muck boots they're awesome. heated socks have come a long way https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07XTB71BR/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Full schedule till Friday, but hoping for some quiet time since gun and maybe some post storm movement in the snow.
  22. this is the kind of stuff that stops people from sharing and learning. ball busting is fine, but I hate how we bring up stuff like this. just my .02
