there are over 1500 active players each year, with an average career of 3 years. 111 is horrible sample size, and is also only those who wanted to be tested, meaning they likely did suffer from the issue. I'm not saying concussions aren't a problem, far from it. But your statement and that study are not scientific.

someone watching sports on sunday and those who were active 3 sport athletes in their youth are in no way the same thing. What happens to adults is they get married, have kids, metabolism goes down and they put on some pounds. It's harder than it was as a kid to stay in shape. But many, myself included still hit the gym 4 times a week and maintain it. I don't do any of my gym workouts because I used to be an athlete who received d3 scholarship offers. I do it to stay in shape for myself, wife and kids. trying to tie youth athletics to those who have a gym membership as adults is silly in my opinion.

lol wut?

I agree. You're far more likely to contract lime from a tick in the woods than properly preparing bear meat. And one has consequences a lot worse than the other.

i'm more into the nfl than college, but i prefer college basketball to the nba. Both collegiate sports have some great passion though. I love seeing guys just go out and play for their school or a shot at a career. So much more refreshing than seeing a guy sit out for more millions, no loyalty to his team or fan base etc. In the end, i'm the same though. I'm too busy during the fall to give up my Saturday and Sunday to football. But I do like to catch the night games now that I'm older and rarely go out anymore haha.

i absolutely give credit to the sox for finding those guys. you're making my point for me. It's not like any of the guys we're discussing were consensus overall #1's. They were later picks. That's where a GM of any sport makes their name. Tom Brady is probably the best example of this. Know when to reach and when to wait and when to pass.

140 is safe, but you can do 160 and not ruin your meat either. just treat it like pork exactly! What happens is a few guys do get sick, because they dont treat their wild game like their store bought game for some reason, and if anything we should be more careful with wild game as few of us our pros and none of these deer or bear die with a pneumatic gun to the head in a controlled environment. handle your sh!t properly and there is no worry. eat a raw piece over a camp fire like rinella and suffer the consequences.

this right here. blueberry or mast/ag crop bears are supposed to be amazing. But there's a real problem in alaska where they eat rotting salmon or dead wales and just taste horrendous.

this was sort of the essence of my post though. It's like we're asking to introduce bear hunting. We're just asking to either change the season and/or allow baiting. the later of course would get the anti's all riled up and from what I've read and heard about groups that are protecting our right to hunt, they're more interested in keeping what we have then adding to it. California just lost fur trapping and other species are under attack as well. As it is though, NY gives out like 500k bear tags and nobody bats an eye. Imagine if we had a late may/early june season? You'd have a few months off after deer, where you can do some scouting, shed hunting and small game. Then turkey starts, then it rolls into bear and you get another small break in the heat of the summer and you're back into deer. I'm just not sure anyone or any organization would even have the resources to attempt to get it passed.

i've hunted the opener the last 2 years but cant make it this year till the last week in september. but the last 2 years its been real warm so i'm hoping a few extra weeks and maybe some deer hunters in the woods will get them moving more. good luck!

it's sort of interesting reading this. We get 2 types of threads like this. It's either a thread like this where someone buys/leases some land and has neighbor problems, or the opposite where someone loses land. We always seem to support the poster of course and the way the guy who lost his hunting spot in this thread is not ok, we do have to remember that one mans gain is another mans loss. We're not fortunate to live out west where the public land is plentiful and game rich. the adirondacks may be some of the hardest hunting east of the mississippi and that's the best comparison to the west we have.

because they didn't think they would be who they were. so they were good gm finds. that was my only point biz. Judge was never thought of as an mvp home run champ and he is. these 3 guys are generational type talent. you're lucky to get 1 out of every first round pick you have in a decade.
-
why did 31 teams pass him up then? i know you're smart enough to get my point
-
i should clarify. Enforcing is different than a court battle. if it came to that.
-
i can't talk shit as the season isn't over. the stros have a hell of a team, that's for sure. we didn't have the best AL record any of those years, so we weren't favorites either. This year is different I agree.
-
the 32nd. he wasn't expected to do as well as he has or 31 other teams would have picked him up first.
-
a redsox fan saying choke is hilarious. Don't forget the last 2 years we were supposed to be rebuilding when guys like glaybor, judge and didi came out of nowhere. Now throw other surprises like voit, urshela and tauchman! come on!
-
we are 2 pitchers away, wah wah wah. We haven't had stanton or severino and are still one of the best teams in baseball. quiturbitchin i pay out the ass to get YES and watch bits and pieces of just about every game. I'm just not active in this thread.

it means we were better than you this year. that means something. point is you're dogging on cashman. the guy has 4 rings. That's pretty impressive. Unlike your organization who just fired their GM a year after a title. but what's really impressive is the talent out the farm system. guys like judge who came out of nowhere. anybody can sell the farm and max salaries like the sox did last year. it's another to find so much talent in the minors that you're not sure you can give them all plate time they deserve.

I can tell you this from a perspective of someone who is trained in concussions and is a director of football for a youth football team. Concussions are no joke. However, the biggest risk is receiving a concussion when you haven't recovered from the first. Generally speaking 2 concussions in youth sports are not rare. My advice is to listen to the doctors (doctors plural) and not the internet. Let him rest and fully recover before he sees the field and focus on tackling fundamentals that will help him avoid future head injuries. Worst case, he stops playing sports and that would suck. I gained so much from football growing up, and that's why I volunteer an ungodly amount of time as an adult. But it's not worth your health. Best case he's fine all the way through high school. And somewhere in the middle, could be a position change to defense focused where he has more control of where and how he hits. good luck and feel free to pm me if you want

it was really just one guy who did it a lot. and then summer bordum. you guys don't swap as adults?
-
point of it is this. if you wanted to enforce trespassing laws, or take action related to him for illegally accessing the land, it would need to be the timber company. Him threatening you is a you vs him legal issue for sure. But him encroaching on private property, even if leased has to be dealt with by the land owner. Now I'm not a property lawyer so I could be wrong, but I'm 90% sure that's how it works. Again the DEC should give better advice.

cashman has 4. those are all post 1980's. Funny how the sox fan got a little cocky the last few years.
