  1. former teenager here. that happens now anyhow. the self driving car would be much safer.
  2. My family is the same way. But I am not home all the time and my kids have friends. Nothing is impenetrable. We've seen enough Ocean's 11 movies to know that. But I bet you still lock your doors to your house and car even though a simple rock renders them useless. You do the best you reasonably can. If you're robbed and your gun safe is broken into, I doubt anyone looks at you sideways. Robbed and your guns are stolen from your dresser drawer might lead to some more scrutiny. Their are worse things that could happen as well that might make you wish you locked your guns up. I think some of you are missing the point. And it's simply that we should do the best we can to control what we can. Bad will always be there. Why contribute to it? So you can save $20 on an FFL?
  3. legally you're not responsible no. As a gun owner you should do the best you can to prevent them from falling into the wrong hands. And if that still doesn't do it for you, you'd think that protecting your kids and the valuables that have sentimental value would. Don't we constantly hang our hat on the ideae that criminals don't follow laws? So why not prepare and store your guns with this idea in mind? https://www.nssf.org/safety/ https://www.theatlantic.com/national/archive/2013/09/the-gun-lobbying-group-you-dont-hear-about/279616/ https://gunsafetyrules.nra.org/ https://www.nrafamily.org/articles/2016/4/14/6-ways-to-safely-store-your-firearms/ there is no requirement on the seller to ask about a criminal record, you're only in trouble if you knowingly sell to a felon, for example the lady who bought the gun for the guy who shot the webster firefighters. Otherwise, you're just judging a book by its cover if you assume a guy with lots of tats is a convicted felon. And billy bob at the gun show could be a felon too. I think you're missing the point about a convicted felon not passing a nics check. That's exactly why he would buy privately and bypass the check through the legal loophole. You're not going to win this one.
  4. holy crap. does he have a history? There's something off with the gf side of this.
  5. Dad and I took a walk on the property. Still some decent snow in 8F. Not enough for an extreme workout, but still some work to hike in some spots. Brought the .22 looking for some tree rats, but really were chatting about stuff and not really hunting. Found a blind that didn't survive and scoped out a spot for a new stand. Ended up without gloves and just a baseball cap which was awesome considering the weather last week. Some fresh rubs, lots of beddowns and even a few scrapes. No obvious drops yet.
  6. However, that ability to freely sell your firearms to your buddy also would allow you to sell it to some gang banger. I agree with your ideas in theory, but that's not how the legal system works my friend. Private party is private party and the government has yet to define "friend". I honestly think as gun owners we need to do our part to prevent them from getting into the wrong hands too. As someone mentioned earlier, guns aren't being stolen from manufacturers. They generally start in the hands of a good law abiding citizen like you and I, and then somehow they make their way into the hands of criminals. And honestly, if your guns are stolen because your house was broken into and you don't keep your guns in a safe, that's on you too.
  7. Can one of you just answer my question. Are you ok with being able to legally sell your guns to whoever you want?
  8. however, your thought is that it shouldn't be a law. Just that citizens should do their best to record the info of the buyer and then of course hope he doesn't sell that firearm himself?
  9. so what do you do, ask for a drivers license and social copy before sale? Would you hand that info to someone you're buying a gun from in a parking lot?
  10. so we're using our feel and sense detectors? I'm not sure you really answered my question either.
  11. so you're saying you have no issue with someone obtaining a gun without any sort of check on the legality of their ability to own it?
  12. how so? Because I'm a gun owner with an unpopular opinion regarding a gun law? Because all legal gun owners scream that it's not them who are contributing to this countries gun problem yet will do nothing to try and stop criminals from possessing them?
  13. yeah every walmart cashier i've ever worked with has been super speedy, attentive and not talking with her coworker or friend.
  14. that's what I thought but for some reason it did "feel" colder this am.
  15. Trump "I'm going to build a wall" gets elected and intends to build wall left "omg what a monster he can't do that" the rest of us... "um he said he was going to do it..." guess some people are used to empty promises from the left.
  16. it's also the whole "gun show" loophole. You meet this guy in the parking lot and sell him your gun for more than the FFL and he's a convicted felon and uses it that night to rob a gas station and kills the clerk in the process.
  17. if you're keeping your cans in the garage. Do not attempt to open them.
  18. i recommend the battery tender. it's not a trickle charger so it's safer. I have a big one for the car that sleeps in the winter and 2 juniors for motorcycle/lawnmower https://www.amazon.com/Battery-Tender-021-0123-Junior-Charger/dp/B000CITK8S/ref=sr_1_4?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1548953105&sr=1-4&keywords=battery+tender
  19. that's the only way to kill innocent bystandards. just saying that technically there is still a value.
  20. those truck/car jacks are a super pain. I give you credit for just relying on that.
  21. Technically that's incorrect. There's a time and day where the government can attempt to confiscate or prevent the sale or inheritance. The safe act and ARs is a good peak into this potential. Obviously this doesn't include the black market.
