  1. i have a kershaw as my everyday pocket knife. i love it.
  2. same reason people don't mow their own lawn or plow their own driveway. I have a pretty busy professional life and 3 young kids. Not a lot of free time. $80 isn't a hard choice when things are hectic.
  3. that's exactly my plan. head attached rug. I am going in with very little expectation. Just an excuse to go to the cabin and something to do.
  4. I started butchering my own 3 years ago and I'll never look back. I admit by the last bowl of ground I'm over it, but if I can get the wife to help it's not so bad. I like to break up the butchering and ground to 2 different days. I just feel a lot better doing it myself.
  5. I agree with culver's point. If you've quartered and tagged your deer of either sex, i doubt you're getting any grief from an officer with or without proof of sex. The only time I think you're getting some grief is if you have antlers in your sack and a doe tag attached, not the other way around. but... if this is really a concern, i stand by my statement of skinning and quartering in the garage
  6. it's interesting to me that in my opinion the main purpose to field quarter is to save weight and make an easier drag. I do intend to do this if I'm lucky to get a black bear this fall. Throwing the head in there is just added weight.
  7. Are you guys cutting off genitals hunting public land? Are you quartering? I never quarter in the field, but I often wait till the garage to even tag on private land. I've lost a tag once that was zip tied to a hole in a does ear but still ripped out during a drag. Cutting out her cooter seems excessive
  8. little smaller of a bird though.
  9. grow with the knowledge drop. i like it
  10. I agree. I only own a 12 with a bird barrel so that's all I know personally, and my group had a few 20's that did real well close to mid depending on choke, but not so stellar at any range. Would have me leery of a 410 for pheasant. btw, beautiful gun.
  11. i hear you on this. Probably more applies to button bucks than the rare antlered doe/antlerless male. These discussion are always fun because they get deep into rules and regs and often point out the bs behind them. As someone who often writes policy for his company I can tell you that it's hard to make a regulation that is all encompassing and also not 10 pages long and simple enough to understand.
  12. I agree with wooly, and i wouldn't discount mom being near.
  13. i don't know. If I drop an animal and intend to display and eat it, I want to be part of it. Feel a little more connection with the animal than squeezing the trigger or releasing an arrow. I know what you mean, but I guess I have a little bit of disdain for the "hunter" whose wall is more the result of his bank account than his hunting prowess. So if i can gut it, at least I did a little dirty work? lol.
  14. i can't imagine an early fall with all the good rain and decent sun.
  15. i'm gutting everything i kill. but if i'm paying big money for hunt? You can drag it for me haha
  16. it is not illegal to call someone ugly. POTUS like? no. Even trump supporters dislike how he handles himself, but it's not illegal.
  17. I'm with Culver. What law did trump break? And what the heck are you even talking about lol.
  18. Didn't know about this DEC program. Thought some of you may be interested. Anybody do it last year? http://www.dec.ny.gov/animals/7193.html
  19. Well I guess that was my point. There are better options.
  20. people are so ignorant on what impeachment means. Not liking what someone says is not impeachable. He would need to break the law. Sorry you lost, quit whining lol.
