  1. you got your rebate back already? I mailed mine out in november and I'm still waiting. I will second looking around. I've never seen good day to day deals on cabelas or bass pro. You need to really scour the net. opticsplanet, ebay, midway, sportsmansguide. Their warranty and customer service is second to none.
  2. Do yourself a favor and save for a 200-300 scope. A vx2 is a great scope and Nikon has some solid scopes in this range. That being said, I just added a vx3 to my ruger American and it puts my vx2 and nikons to shame. Glad I splurged a little more to get a 3.5-10 at $320 on Black Friday with a rebate. 3. just don't carry a toy bat in your car either. That one is a whole other chapter in grow's book of stories.
  4. they aren't though. I did some research the other night and there are some variations in design that allow them to act like switchblades but aren't. It was approved and especially exempted in 2008 I think?
  5. sometimes it's about using what you have, or trying something new. but truthfully, only about 15% of the internet is learning. the rest is just people killing time by debating.
  6. i think that's all anyone has really been saying. Nobody is against you, just making a point.
  7. You mean like Papist and VJP? Members can think what they want about my stance on crossbows, but I wrote letters and sent my money to NYB. I did more than just post links from websites. Hope we all do the same with regards to the doe only nonsense.
  8. I've been looking at spring assisted knives. I see they're almost impossible to buy online and ship to NY so I better get some now in case I move back home. Doing research the OTF knives are essentially switchblades, but skirt the law somehow? What a weird country we live in. Seems spring assist is legal for hunting in NY but not anything else?
  9. I can't say my family of 4 is always together every night of the week, but we make time for dinner as much as possible. It's important to my wife and I. When I was back in NY we almost always went to my parents or hers on Sunday for a big family meal. I think more people still do this than you think. The big family meal is even more common down south. You know, where conservative family values are ruining America.
  10. I still respectfully disagree. The size and smaller cartridge leads to less recoil and an easier shooting gun with a higher probability of more shots on target. Of course, like mentioned earlier, if you practice enough with any gun you can overcome the recoil. I'm just a realist and I know many don't spend enough time at the range.
  11. look at the link i posted regarding knife laws.
  12. me. I have little faith it'll do anything though.
  13. yes there are hereditary issues, but I'd sure as heck try first. Even then, diet and exercise is good for you.
  14. I understood your point loud and clear. And I've not gone back to a few primary care docs after first visits where they were interested in nothing but prescribing pills. However, in this case they're simple test results and the doc is giving him a heads up to fix it before he ends up on pills. there is no scam that i'm aware of with any METS related test and health issues.
  15. I know of a relative of a friend here in MS who paid multiple thousands of dollars for having loose rifle shells with the gun in the car.
  16. what's crazy about the NY knife laws is that they're class A misdemeanors. The same as illegal firearms and worse than prostitution. wtf? http://www.knifeup.com/new-york-knife-laws/
  17. Horrible advice as usual. Are you advocating he doesn't get his diet and exercise under control?
  18. Same here. I take my mag or shells out and place in my fanny pack. My understanding is that is a legal situation. But having them readily accessible like in the ash tray wouldn't be.
  19. I've always been fine with Italian dressing for a day in the fridge. Add a salad, mixed veggies and some brown rice. Exercise and get some sleep and you won't have to worry about the red meat.
  20. If there was a call, I don't see any issue with going to the kernel. Not sure if you have a hut or not but maybe they wanted to see if he was in the hut or there was any visible sign of animal cruelty in the cage. All perfectly legal. Your offense at all this is what smells bad to me. I'm not saying you should just let anyone into your home without cause. But if you're innocent I wouldn't be freaking out.
